  1. yayyyy! youre on the road to recovery! Remember the protein drinks. You need the nutrition to help heal quicker.
  2. good luck with your approval process
  3. yaaaayyyyyy! It is a great feeling when you overcome the approval hurdle!
  4. I just had out patient surgery on my left hand and am so happy I can have my protein drink and water again. My concern was not for my hand but for making sure I got my protein and liquids in. So now I get to practice typing with only my right hand.
  5. totally agree that the exercise helped. I was walking prior to surgery and was up and about after the anesthesia wore off...that's the worse part. glad to hear you're having a smooth recovery!
  6. Sleeved on 2/21 and have only lost 8 lbs post surgery I did have a week of liquids pre-op and lost 10 lbs then. I guess I'm a really really slow loser. I'm trying not to get discourage. It almost makes me want to eat junk food since I'm not losing the weight and I'm out walking just about everyday for 3 - 8 miles. I'm being good with getting all my liquids in and my protein. It's time for the brain to kick the butt to get losing on this weight. I'm eating between 600-900 calories a day. Oh well, less saggy skin....at least that's what I'm telling myself.
  7. Hi, I was sleeved on 2/21 and think I'm a slow loser also. I make sure I get my 60-80g protein each day and drink 8 cups of water a day. I have been walking 3-8 miles a day....occasionally 8. And I've managed to lose 6 pounds the last 2 weeks. I'm working awfully hard to lose this weight. I'm just hoping that it's my body adjusting to the much lower calories a day. I think I'm getting 600-800 calories a day. Hopefully the scale will move a little faster. If not, I keep trying to remind myself that I will have less saggy skin for being a slow loser.
  8. So I'm in the puree stage of my diet now and the thought of puree food is just so unappetizing to me. I would rather stick with the full liquid longer. So, I've been using my teeth as my puree device. I'm sitting here nibbling on crab meat and chewing the heck out of it before swallowing. The family will get Maryland crab soup and I get pure crab meat.
  9. Oh, can you eat a chocolate bunny for me? I see them in the stores and want one.
  10. Hi, I'm two weeks out and the first 2 weeks, I had a protein shake (30g protein) for breakfast. For lunch I drank unjury chicken broth (20g protein). Dinner was some kind of soup broth with 10-20g of unflavored protein in it. I drank 8 cups of water in between meals and had SF popscicles and sometimes SF pudding.
  11. Hey as long as it works for you. I got myself a 24oz Tervis cup and I know I have to refill it at least twice a day. That's how I track my fluids
  12. good luck with Aetna. Don't you just hate the way insurance companies dictate your health rather than your doctor?
  13. Sorry to hear about this obstacle you've come across. I hope your test goes well and you can get the sleeve.
  14. keep sipping sipping sipping! Try to make a conscious effort to drink more. In the beginning, I just focused on getting my fluids in by taking a sip then walk around the inside of the house then take another sip. I did nothing else but focus on getting my liquids in. I know by noon I should have at least 3 cups of Water in me. If not then focus on just sipping until I get it in. Then by 3-4, I should have another 3 cups of water in me. Then I try for another 3 cups and if I don't make it, then it's ok because I would have had 6 plus my Protein shakes/soups. You don't want to have to depend on going to the hospital for IV fluids. It's hard in the beginning, but you can do it with a sip at a time. Have you tried flavoring your water? I use Crystal Light for 6 cups then plain water for the last 3. Good luck with getting your fluids in.
  15. Congrats! You've made it! I hope your surgery goes smoothly and you have a speedy recovery! No need to worry about dehydration, they'll be pumping you full of liquids via IV Yep, I see a space here on the losers bench with your name on it.
  16. Good luck with your surgery! Hope you have a speedy recovery!
  17. Congrats! Hope you have a speedy recovery! I agree with you....that leak test liquid is NASTY!
  18. Yes! I can see the difference. Nice! Keep up the good work!
  19. Hi, when I had my surgery, my pre-op instructions were no nail polish or artificial nails. When I went in for the surgery, the nurse checked my fingers by pressing down to see the color change. I'm not sure what that's for...maybe circulation. I had silk wraps on my nails and I made sure I removed them first. I guess you can wait and see what your doctor says.
  20. tofu, applesauce, cottage cheese, lentil soup, puree chili, cheese... those are some of the ideas I have for when I start soft foods.
  21. I have Kaiser insurance and had a 6 month program to go through. 2 group classes and 4 visits with the nutritionist. After that, the nutritionist submitted my paperwork to the committee for final approval. My understanding is that if you got approved in the program, then you just need to follow their guidelines for the 6 months. Oh, I did have to lose some weight also. It's a percentage of your weight. Good luck with the process.
  22. nope... I haven't felt hungry yet, but I am eating 3 protein shakes/soup a day and getting in at least 8 cups of water and eating SF popcicles.
  23. I'm glad they found the problem and fixed it quickly. I hope you have a speedy recovery!
  24. Stef, with the sleeve how should we handle it now? When I get up, I have my Protein Drink then i go for my walk. I walk 1 -2 hours depending on if I'm doing 3 or 6 miles. I want to optimize my workout with losing weight.
  25. Wow, that's great! When I went for my first post-op at a week and a half, I had lost 5 lbs and thought that was great! I like your number better.
