Folks, do you love burgers but can no longer eat them cause they get stuck?
I couldn't imagine trying to eat a bun, but the throught of a grilled bun with a big juicy hamburger....oh well I can dream. I may try Betty's idea along with the olive oil in the hamburger mixture.

The First Meal
Sounds yummy. I still remember my first post op food, French Onion Soup and a side order of mashed potatoes with garlic, thought I'd died and gone to heaven. That was before a fill, now since the fill, NO potatoes, my band hates potatoes.

Protien Shakes
I'm not a milk person or anything associated with milk, EXCEPT milkshakes, and they have to be mostly frozen, not liquidy at all. I use the zone bars, 16 grms of protein, but ya have to eat really slow.

Dance Recital
Tooooooo Cute!!! They're adorable, no cute little girls to post here, all boys, I was doomed with males. Two brothers, two sons, husband and two grandsons, although, there is a new grandbaby due in January.....just maybe.

PB"S
Mine is more of a slime issue, happens more than I like. Usually when I've waited too long to eat, which makes me think it's my fault and I probably ate too fast and didn't chew well enough. Boy that's aggrivating when you're starving.

Pics of my Barium Swallow
Check out the video that Betty found, pretty informative.

Take a look at this site! Very informative!
Thanks Betty, those were awesome. I too, would like to see my food going down or sitting which ever the case may be.

I'm not sure I can do this...
VQ is right, don't try to tough it out. I did that for an entire month, I was totally miserable, I pbd or slimed, not just every day, but everything I put in my mouth. I finally went and got a partial unfill, what a relief. It's been two months and I'm trying to talk myself into trying a tinsy tiny fill, but that was such a horrible experience, I just don't know. You need your energy, so you need to eat. Good Luck.

No Bread?????
Been banded for six months haven't even tried a slice of bread or a bun, but OMG the thought of a great big, juicy hamburger..., but nope, no bread for me. I don't even know if I could, but I make it my choice not to eat bread, period. My mother was banded 2 months ago and I can't keep her away from it, so...........go figure, LOL.

Explain your perfect restriction and how much you could eat
Nancy, I've been waiting for the hiccup, but never paid attention to runny nose or burp, I'll give it more thought. Thanks for the advice.

Explain your perfect restriction and how much you could eat
My band is very uninformative! I never ever know I'm full until it's too late, and like Angleeyes, either the back up or the slime happens and THEN I know I'm done.

Who was discouraged and isn't anymore?
I think after a few months we all get a little discouraged in ourselves. I've been fighting the scales now for three weeks, up 1.5, down 1, up 1, down .5, ERRRR! BUT, am I sorry, heck no, if I never lose another lb, I'm so much happier with myself than I was before my friend, the band. I just wish it would let me know I'm full before I'm over full.

Fickle band
Congratulations Darcey! I too have a fickle band, which refuses to let me know I'm full until it's too late and I get the "slime". You would think after 6 months I'd know, but I'm still trying to find the ultimate sweet spot.

Need Tasty Liquid Protein
If I liked milk, Carnation Instant Breakfast would be my drink of choice. When my kids were young, they always had a glass before school. As a mom it always made me feel better thinking they were getting lots of protein before school.

Not doing so well
I was fortunate and didn't have to do clear liquids. My doctor told me anything that would go through a straw, though I didn't use a straw to take in the liquids. I did thinned sausage gravy, (didn't eat the sausage), milkshakes, creamy soups, etc. By the end of my second week, I was so desperate to chew, I used the Campbells Hand Soup and would stand over the sink, chew, and spit. Sounds gross, but it helped get me through it. Hope it helps.

Do you save a lot of $$ on food?
I still enjoy eating out, but I look forward to eating my leftovers either for dinner or the following day. Sometimes I get 2 addl meals out of one. On several occassions I've had the server comment I'm not drinking my Water, (you know how they come around with the pitcher to refill the glass). I sure miss drinking with my meals, or maybe I should say, washing down the grub during meals. I guess I'll have to start taking an insulated bag to keep my leftovers safe.

???-4th day out & Black
Poor Baby! I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you. I didn't have either of those problems and I hope it's only temporary. I did have the nauseousness, it was due to the pain meds while I was in the hospital. If you're still taking pain meds try cutting back or have your doctor switch to something else. I didn't need the pain meds once I went home. My port is very distinct, it does not protrude, but the entire area around it is and has always been puffy. I think it's more my enlarged liver than the port. I sure hope you start feeling back to your ol happy self real soon.

My introduction
Good luck on your new journey. You're fortunate to have the surgery at such a young age, (compared to 55, LOL). I wish you the best.
-
Ahhh HELP!! IS THIS NORMAL PAIN?
I agree with Christine, if you're still in pain today you should follow up with your doctor.

H*O*M*E From Surgery
Well it's about time! Congratulations, glad you're finally here.
-
Congrats, Christina! (I'llsucceed)
I was thinking about you too, hope you're doing well, you've waited so long. I'm so excited for you. Good luck.

What foods do you find difficult to eat?
I haven't had bread, and potatoes of any kind is a no no, my band does not like potoatoes period.

Dr. Office Attitude
Don't have that problem here, I'm on first name basis with the entire staff. Sure makes a difference to have friendly, helpful staff.

Non-scale Defeat
Sounds like he's jealous to me, not just of the money you spent on yourself, (OMG, the shame and sin of you, what in the world were you thinking), but of the fact you have lost 35 pounds and you're probably starting to feel pretty darn good about yourself, regardless of what he thinks. YOU GO GIRL, tell him to kiss your getting smaller every day butt. I'm blessed my DH never even asked what it cost until a golf buddy, who is a little on the chunky side, inquired. I just smiled and told him he coulda bought another Harley, but he got a thinner me instead. My DH tells me every day, loss or no loss, "you're just wasting away honey". He's never had a problem with weight and he knows I've battled it our entire marriage. Enjoy the new you, he'll get over it.
