  1. give your body some time to adjust. unless you are eating a huge amount of calories it will start. your body needs time to adjust. there will be times when you are in a stall and it is very frustrating and can last for weeks. but then you will get out of them
  2. had aetna also and the NUT was included in everything. I still had a 3000 co-pay but it was worth it
  3. I just watch my sugar and fat intake. no fried foods, baked goods, ice cream. I do eat full fat cheeses because the flavor is so much more intense and I end up using less than I would if I used low fat and it is much more satisfying.
  4. I am almost 5 months out and I am finally able to eat lettuce !!!! what a happy day that was for me
  5. the only time of the month I crave sugar & carbs
  6. lol.... that is when I am gaining weight and I dont even step on the scale that week at all
  7. the only thing I can tell you is that.... you have overweight for how many years? I know it is frutrating. it took me over a year and a half just to get approval (jan 2012) and I wasnt able to schedule it until april due to the fact that I had to request the time off. also this is part of FMLA so they can not deny you the time off. good luck
  8. former rhode island girl here. congrats !!!
  9. you do not need another dr's appt to get your chest x-ray. you just need to request in from medical records or have the pulmonologist/cardiologist request it and they have to do it.
  10. been in a slump for the past month. started going to more exercise classes and I start with a personal trainer next week. Hopefully that will help/ I am not done losing weight and I know this too will pass
  11. My husband and children know that I had the surgery. Also most everybody at work knows. They have been very supportive. Working in an ER we see what morbid obesity can do to people and I didnt want to be one of them. It does feel weird now of all the compliments that I have been getting. I'm still not used to it.
  12. im just wondering if having a foley catheter during surgery is necessary? ive never had one before and if its necessary im gona be scared!! has anyone had a single incision sleeve done yet?? the doctor thats doing mines is gona have about 4 or 5 incisions i believe. but i heard that its possible to do the sleeve with a single incision. the number one thing im afraid of is getting dehydrated. has anyone experienced hair loss with the sleeve?? never had a foley placed. that is up to the surgeon. they dont BTW just an odd feeling like you have to go to the bathroom. you are going to have hair loss. fluids are your number 1 priority when you first get home. after that it is fluids and Protein.
  13. I use the grape tomato (thinner skins or the roma tomato also I use english cucumbers since there are virtually no seeds in them
  14. the first time I got it was when I was eating a sugar free italian ice. figured it was like a popsicle but I guess not
  15. colace twice a day and increase your water intake
  16. before surgery I never had acid reflux but after surgry it wa out of control. I was put on dexilant and that seemed to help untill this past week and it started creeping back up again. dr now put me on nexium. I am hoping this works because waking up in the middle of the night because your heartburn is so bad is not fun at all.
  17. had it a few times right after getting sleeved. hot, sweaty, nausea, trouble catching your breathe you feel like you are going to be sick but end up in the bathroom for at least an hour. not a good day when that happens
  18. chew on a sugar free popsicle or ice chips. maybe that will help
  19. sugar is my heroin .... one taste and I am back in that bad habit.
  20. that is awsome.
  21. bread pasta and pizza will expand. If I am craving pasta I overcook it and onlly eat 1oz portion and it still takes me forever to eat it. I either add clams or chicken for the protein. Pizza still bothers me. I eat the topping off of it and that is it. I have not eaten one piece of bread since surgery
