  1. What's body brushing? Sounds like pampering and I loveeeee pampering lol. I have bought some spanx to put on under my clothes and have became obsessed with them! Haha,I even wear my spanx around the house like all day long and I wear them when I exercise. My doctor said that may help the skin as well in the fact that while the weight is coming off the skin is being compressed rather than just hanging like usual. I am a big fan of Nivea skin firming lotion with Q10,but I would love some ideas on what kind of body oils to use also.
  2. I'm 25 too and had 130 to lose. I am now 5 weeks out have lost a total(Pre-op diet and then since surgery) of 40 pounds. My skin seems to be doing ok so far but of course I have alot more to go. I wish you luck on your journey!!!!! Keep us updated!
  3. Mmmm yummy,I love the chocolate. =) To me,it's not a thick as the protein powder shakes. Hope you like it. I took one with me to my one month post-op and they were happy with it. =)
  4. Congrats! You'll be there b4 you know it!!! =)
  5. Girl, you are strong for even realizing the changes you need to make!! Don't beat yourself up over it,just move on and take the experience and use it for future reference. You know that you don't ever want to feel that bad again for eating something you shouldn't. I honestly think you're gonna do great,I think we all have to go through the tough part and the little mistakes. It is part of this whole life change. Noone is perfect. If we were,we would have never needed the sleeve in the first place. As long as it isn't an everyday thing,it's not a problem in my opinion. You're gonna lose the weight, and keep it off,you can do this. As far as Ron,he sounds like a JERK. I would most likely had ended up saying something to him. ((HUGS)) to you,I think you handled the situation great. The ice cream incident is over, put it in the past and continue to do great sleeve sister! ((HUGS))
  6. The pre-op is like the hardest part of it all. You can get through it though. I do remember how hard it is,I will never forget my husband and I arguing over me wanting to trash these sugar cookies(I so threw them away) bc he kept bringing in all kinds of HORRIBLE junk food in aka stuff I would normally pig out on..LOL. I even vented here about it. I was a mess, but got through it. Lost 15 pounds pre-op and 24 pounds in the 5 weeks since being sleeved. You got this girl, just keep your eye on the prize!
  7. Great attitude to have! Can't wait to see your transformation! When do/did you get sleeved?
  8. So,we can do pills now instead of chewable? I hate them! :/ I haven't takem my calcium in a week,I just can't do it. It gags me now.
  9. Oh and one more thing, the "Golden Standard" RNY doesn't always work either. My sister had it in 2008 and has lost and kept her weight off but her best friend had it also in 2008,didn't lose all her weight and what she did lose has came back. They were relatively the same weight, only her friend was taller. Just kinda goes to show that you HAVE to work the tool you are given in order to be successful long term.
  10. You should def have the expectations that your sleeve will work. I feel it's all about how you work your sleeve as well. =) You still have to eat the right things and exercise regularly. With that being said,at my pre op appt, one of the doctors expressed to me that she thought the RNY was the gold standard and the sleeve may not allow me to lose all my weight( I don't agree) But they said if it doesn't work, they can do the DS. They never mentioned doing the RNY if the sleeve didn't work. I didn't pay much attention though bc I knew/know that my sleeve will not let me down. Sleevie and I will work together till all this pesky fat is gone, then continue to work to keep it off. Lol

Good luck girl! I know someone on here that has to do Optifast for 8 weeks!
  13. Wow,you're rockin it! I love NSVs more than I do scale victories.lol The NSV's are the ones that boost our self esteems through the roof!!!!
  14. I am only 5 weeks out but I intend to hit my goal and stay there. My sleeve will pretty much tolerate anything now(although I can barely get in an ounce at a time). But I still choose to fill it with lean protein first,I used to be a lover of all things carbs-bad carbs. Breaded everything, chips, crackers, candy, etc. But now I am like a bad carb nazi hehe, and I intend to stay that way with leniency in moderation when/if I ever feel like I absolutely would like to eat like one chip or a bite of cake at bday party. I will never again make it my everyday lifestyle to eat empty calories, carbs, and junk all around, and I feel that this, plus adding exercise, will take me to goal and keep me there.
  15. I am 5 weeks out and deal with the same thing. Although I am doing good lately about getting in my protein,it all comes from shakes mostly. I eat maybe 2 ozs of food on a good day. I really hope I can start eating more soon bc I know I am not getting close to the recommended amount of calories in that I should be daily and it is giving me a slow(but steady) weight loss. I think I would be losing more if I could up my calories a bit and get my body out of starvation mode. lol.
  16. Hi there! The first step in my process was to attend the seminar as well. I started my process towards the and of October 2011 and I was sleeved on Jan 25th 2012. Good luck to you,the seminar was very informational for me. There were guests speakers that had WLS(none had the sleeve),a psychologist spoke,as well as the surgeon and his assistant doctors.
  17. That is awesome! You are beautiful girl, love you profile pic!
  18. I agree with the poster above, they have some great ideas. Just though I would give you a link to eggface's protein shake recipes. To kick up your protein shakes. They are so friggin awesome. I think it is a good idea to stick with the shakes for now,and just kind of sample the solids, but start off with very soft and juicy, tender meats. I am still only eating about 3 oxs of solids a day and relying on my protein shakes to get me by bc even at 5 weeks out,I get SO full after eating liek 1 oz that I can barely get in liquids or shakes in for the rest of the day. Here is the link to protein shake recipes: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/06/my-favorite-protein-shake-recipes.html
  19. I also experienced this type of pain until a little past 3 weeks,I slept with a heating pad on my insicions every night,it helped ALOT. Hope you feel better soon!
  20. Those sliders are very moist so I would assume they wouldn't go down too bad,but I probably would like just eat the meat part. There are alot of restaurants that sell burgers with all the stuff on them but without the bread. I am 5 weeks out and have not tried bread yet. My nut told me when I do start to eat bread,to toast it at first, that will help. Hope this was a lil helpful to you! ((HUGS))
  21. Thank you, sounds so good. I will def have to look for some here. I am a mml freak! lol
  22. You just have to stay positive! ((HUGS)) The same thing happened to me but at 1 1/2 weeks out! I gained 2 pounds and then stalled. It was horrible and lasted for a lil more than a week. Then I started losing again. I am losing slow but steady now. Just try to stay clam and be patient and remember that the weight WILL come off. I remember someone on this site saying a very true statement: That at some point,we all think we are the one that this surgery is not going to work for, that we will be the ONE to fail. But it WILL work, just keep doing what you know is right as far as eating, liquids, protein and walking. Also, getting the right amount of sleep is somewhat crucial as well. Let's look forward to the next week as you will probably be losing again by then! =)
  23. Welcome and good luck to you! Just wait, you'll be losing in no time!
  24. Yes I am slowly adding food. I can eat pretty much anything now,it's just that it isn't near enough for nutritional value-at all. And it keeps me full fo SO long. So,I try to get in most my protein and Water, then look to the food, not sure if that's the best idea, but it's what I'm goin with for now. lol. Ooohhhh my,okay I am so in need of some coffee! I ran out of chocolate powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury so I need to order more. I love love love eggfaces Protein shake recipes. Cannot wait to try some!
  25. I was excited when I found them too! Have only found the light in chocolate but oh my they are so good!
