  1. You're welcome! And when you decide to try it, you can just start out with 1 or 2 to make sure your sleeve will tolerate it ok. It doesn't take much to fill you up with the sleeve, especially when you first move to more solids. This is yummy, I hope you enjoy it.
  2. I have had some problems recently with getting errors and thought it was my pc or my internet server, but it does it on my iphone too. I can't remember what the error says. I use Firefox on my laptop. I don't remember any spell-check issues but I will pay attention to that and let you know if I do.
  3. I know right?? How can you go wrong with shrimp OR bacon? And since I am not much of a gourmet cook I love finding these tasty and simple recipes. Enjoy and let me know what you think if you try it.
  4. I've seen a few too, and I do get irritated, but mostly I pity them. Their lives must be pretty miserable to have to come on a msg board for support and spread their toxic poison. I am trying to learn to ignore them.
  5. Thanks! I do love this, because the dip is kinda sweet and spicy too. But not too hot. I actually crave this stuff, and it's a great party/ballgame appetizer too. I am a sauce girl too, and it makes our lives as sleevers so much easier and tastier haha. Plain Greek Yogurt is a great replacement for sour cream in any of the dips.
  6. I posted this in another thread about meat/protein and thought I would put it here too for others looking for a yummy easy recipe!! I love bacon wrapped shrimp, it's so easy to do on the George Foreman Grill cuz the shrimp is already cooked, so it just takes a few mins on the grill to heat and cook the bacon, and I can cook just a few at a time. It doesn't take many to fill me up! I dip it in this creole mustard recipe I got out of a magazine. I modified it and use greek yogurt for the sour cream, and the splenda/brown sugar mix instead of just brown sugar. And onion powder for the minced onion. I cut the bacon into 3 pieces instead of just 2. Here is the original recipe then I made my own modifications: Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp With Creole Mustard Prep time; 20 mins. (it's way less time if you use the already peeled deveined and cooked shrimp in the bags) Total time; 35 mins. Servings; 8 1/2 c. whole grain Dijon mustard 1/4 c. sour cream 1 tpsp. minced red onion 1 tpsp. packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp.worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp. tabasco 24 large shrimp, peeled & deveined(about 1 lb.) 1/2 tsp. dried thyme 12 slices bacon, halved crosswise wooden toothpicks CREOLE SAUCE............. In small bowl, combine mustard, sour cream, onion, sugar, worcestershire sauce and tabasco sauce; cover and refrigerate. Sprinkle shrimp with thyme. Wrap 1 half slice bacon around each shrimp with thyme; secure with toothpick. Heat large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp; cook tumbling once, until shrimp are cooked through and bacon is crisp, 5 to 6 minutes per side. Remove toothpicks; arrange on platter. Serve warm with sauce.
  7. I like to also get prime rib at a local restaurant in my area. It is very tender and flavorful and goes down easy and it's not tough at all. I also love bacon wrapped shrimp, it's so easy to do on the George Foreman Grill cuz the shrimp is already cooked, so it just takes a few mins on the grill to heat and cook the bacon, and I can cook just a few at a time. This may not be the correct place to put it, because we have a recipe forum here too I think, but here is the original recipe then I made my own modifications: Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp With Creole Mustard Prep time; 20 mins. (it's way less time if you use the already peeled deveined and cooked shrimp in the bags) Total time; 35 mins. Servings; 8 1/2 c. whole grain Dijon mustard 1/4 c. sour cream 1 tpsp. minced red onion 1 tpsp. packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp.worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp. tabasco 24 large shrimp, peeled & deveined(about 1 lb.) 1/2 tsp. dried thyme 12 slices bacon, halved crosswise wooden toothpicks CREOLE SAUCE............. 8. So sorry to hear you're in the hospital, please keep us updated. (null)
  9. I've seen it questioned and discussed and various peoples surgeons opinions on it, but I don't know what the truth is. I have seen Dr's say both ways too. I just try to under eat my sleeve and hope i keep the restriction forever. We naturally have a little more room as the swelling goes down between 4-6 wks. But after that, I don't know how much or how easy it would stretch.
  10. Yeah that person wasn't really your friend and she proved it. Real friends don't act jealous because we are trying to become healthier and improve our lives. I have found a lot of some people will keep others around and call them friend, when in actuality, they want to hang around us to make themselves feel more __________ (fill in the blank with prettier, smarter, sexier, skinnier, richer, etc). When something like this threatens them and their little world, they just can't handle it. They lose it, and show their true colors. Don't feel bad, it's not your fault she was so selfish. And the Facebook status also proved she is very immature.
  11. Probably the swelling from your esophageal hernia, but keep a close watch on it and consult your Dr, I sure hope you heal quickly, sounds like you've had a rough start. Sending you healing vibes.
  12. Congrats on hitting Onederland!!
  13. The only protein shake I like are the ready to drink Atkins ones, they don't have that gross protein taste. I like the flavors with coffee in them, the Cafe Caramel and Mocha Latte, and also the vanilla is good. I use them for sweet treats. The tubs of powder protein I have tried at different times, immediately post op and also this past wk, I still hate the protein taste in them. I like the pure protein protein bars, just the chocolate peanut butter ones.
  14. Hmmm difficult decision indeed, but I would get Insurance to cover it if possible. Not just due to the money, but the post op care you could get Insurance to cover if the unforeseen happened and you had any problems or complications. Of course, waiting does suck. And are you sure that your insurance will cover the actual Sleeve? Some people go through the 6 month wait and supervised physician diet, only to find out they only have the option of getting the RNY or Band, cause they don't cover the Sleeve. Then there's all the many other hoops to jump through such as Psych evaluation, sleep study, nutritionist, Stress test, not all Dr's have you do all tests, but most do some or all. So you may not get your surgery at the end of the 6 month wait if you also then have to schedule a bunch of different other appts. There's a lot to consider, I know I didn't help you much here, lol. Good luck on your decision!
  15. I think you can order them on their website or amazon or vitacost.
  16. Congrats on being sleeved!! It sounds rough right now and horrible that you aren't getting to eat or drink, but hang in there, it's going to get better!! I hope you have a speedy recovery!
  17. I'm sorry you are having a rough time! I would definitely focus on fluids to see if that helps. There's the G2 that is Gatorade but no or less sugar that you can look into. I'm glad you are going to start getting your vitamins in. I didn't think we had dumping syndrome as Sleevers, that is more of a Bypasser issue, but she probably deals with them more often. I hope you feel better soon!!
  18. I had thrush/yeast on my tongue. I had been sick right before surgery and on antibiotics, then had antibiotics in my IV and post op also. I ate a lot of yogurt drank those little Dan Activ liquid yogurts and took probiotics. It went away over a wk or two. Depending on your symptoms, you may have to have meds for it.
  19. I know they sound so good! That's one I want to try to. Someone posted if you microwave for a few seconds it makes them even better so if you taste and it's just so so, try the microwave. Oh, and let me know what you think about them please.
  20. I am using the Pure Protein chocolate Peanut Butter right now, and they are ok, sometimes I will spread a little almond or peanut butter on them. But I really want to try the Quest ones I keep reading about, they don't have as many net carbs or sugar alcohol. I just don't know which flavor I want to order.
  21. I was there in May and had a wonderful experience. Yecats just got home and is doing well. I don't know when she'll see this, because she's tired. Maybe you could send her a private message?
  22. Sorry to hear about the nausea, I have seen a few people have this problem. I too suggest trying a different PPI and you may have to double dose til you find relief. The reason I think it may be acid is because you get a little relief when you eat then it starts up again a little later. Also, you may need to be tested for H.Pylori if you haven't already. I know you're miserable, but don't give up!! I hope you get better soon.
  23. Oh wow, congrats!!! I know you're so excited and happy. I hope you have a really easy surgery and speedy recovery! Please update us as soon as you feel up to it. Take Care!
  24. That makes total sense, I don't suppose you are blaming him if you are considering going back. I know it must be very upsetting and frustrating. First the Band, now you're having trouble with your Sleeve. You're right, it could very well have been scar tissue that determined your sleeve size. I know it must be disheartening. I commend you for not giving up completely and doing everything you have to do to reach your goals of becoming healthier. You are a very strong and determined person. Please keep us updated on your situation and what you decide to do.
  25. It's so weird how not only is my body changing, but my mind is. Because I used to worry so much about how I would handle these questions too. And I DO order the water, just cuz it's free and i hate plain water so I'm not tempted to drink while i eat. But I haven't had too many questions or looks and the once or twice it's happened, I just answer whatever question with "I just need a to go box thank you and smile and look away. This nicely lets them know I don't want to be questioned, and I don't owe an explanation, and I am not about to offer one. It politely dismisses them before they can get too nosey or question. I used to think they asked questions because I had eaten so little and I am a big person, but now that I'm not as self conscious about my weight and I have more confidence, I realize they are asking because it's their job to push more food and sell more. They push appetizers, wine, desserts, etc because it's an upsale and they are required to do it, much like some dept stores require their check out cashiers to ask if you have a credit card and if you say no, they are required to ask if you want one. I kind of resent this too, it's no ones business if I have a credit card and if I wanted one I'd ask for an application hahaha. But my point is, a lot of times it's more about them doing their job than caring whether or not we eat all our food or how big we are.
