  1. Awesome nsv's!! Congrats on your success and I'm sure you will continue to add to that list!
  2. I was sent home with omeprazole from my dr before leaving Mexico with instructions to take 2 at bedtime to protect the tummy. I was also taking 1 in the morning but am about to drop that dose. It is known to prevent nausea and "fake" hunger pains. I think they usually recommend it for up to 6 months if needed. It makes a huge difference. I'm glad you got some and that it's helping!!!
  3. Congrats on being sleeved!!! You seem so excited, just like me lol. I was sleeved on Monday. I've been on Cloud 9 since. It is awesome knowing that I am finally gonna be able to get this weight off and be healthier!! It's good to hear things went well for you.
  4. I am so glad things went well with the procedure and now maybe no more bad surprises for you!! You were very upset and had every reason to vent/rant. You have had sleeve problems, non-supportive co-workers/boss, and it looks like you are also trying to plan a wedding?? No wonder you blew a gasket, you were completely entitled to those feelings. I plan on being more open and verbal about my feelings on things now, because I know I have spent the most part of my life holding things inside, and trying to make sure everyone around me was happy, and I didn't offend anyone. I am a people pleaser, and thought that was the right thing to do. I cared more about other peoples feelings than my own. I now realize that it was low self esteem that contributed to that, as well as contributed to my being overweight. So I have warned people I may be emotional and even bi*chy at times, and they need to deal with it and get used to it. My sister jokingly said, well at least you will be a skinny b*tch!!! haha. We had a good laugh with that one. So yeah, they were warned. I hope things get better everyday for you, and you come to love your sleeve and your journey. We are all here to listen to the joys and pains and give each other support. I really like this forum.
  5. Barb, congrats on the 2 lbs, you're doing great. I think it's wise to do the measuring tape and/or trying smaller sizes of clothes to measure our success and not get caught up in the scale and pounds as much. That is my plan also. I have seen so many people get so upset and even depressed over the scale not moving at all or fast enough. While I can totally relate and understand, I just have too much weight to lose and a long journey and I don't want the scale to control my emotions, yanno? That is exactly what would sabotage me pre-surgery when I dieted, and would cause me to just say, well forget it, I'm just gonna eat that ______ if depriving myself isn't gonna make me lose weight. So I am trying to go into this with a different plan. It will be a lot harder to just give up on eating healthy now, thanks to the sleeve Will you let me know which of the unflavored protein powders you like the best between the Unjury and the Bariatric Advantage? I want to get one but would like to hear a comparison review between the two. Thanks!!!
  6. I'm so sorry you are going through this, I know it's really difficult. You are gonna just have to do YOU girl! Take care of yourself, physically and emotionally. The rest will all fall into place. Distract yourself with activities, get out and enjoy life. Focus on you and your health. This forum is wonderful, and we're all here for you! I hope you continue on your WLS journey, because you deserve to be healthy and happy. If he chooses not to be a part of it, then so be it. You're gonna be fine and do great!
  7. If you have any more left, I'll gladly take them!
  8. :welcome: Hi, congrats on being sleeved!! I am 6 days post-op, so I am still kinda in a daze too, can't believe I actually did this. I hope for the both of our sakes that yes, it works!! I hope things are going great for you so far! I am very pleased with my sleeve, Kelly
  9. I'm so sorry your fiance has gone through so much, I know it must've been very scary for both of you. I'm glad she did the right thing and went to the ER and caught it in time. I am sure it's been very painful and of course she is regretting her decision at this point. The healing process can take a while and be both physically and emotionally painful. There may come a day that she will come to love her sleeve, it just may take a while. This procedure is a lifesaver for so many people, and no one thinks at the time they make the very difficult decision to have it, that they will be in the percentage that has complications. You are correct, people that are researching need to know of these complications, and also, they need to know the signs and symptoms of a leak in case they have one themselves. Thank you for sharing her story and for your love and support for her, I am sure it means the world to her. Please continue to update us on her condition and also encourage her to join this forum for continuing support in her journey. It is nice to have friends to share both the ups and downs. I hope she recovers very quickly. Kelly
  10. You are doing so awesome!! When you say you are having trouble getting the liquid in, is it due to the restriction, the taking the time to do it, or does it cause you pain or discomfort to drink?? I am just 4 days post-op and not having problems getting the liquid in. I have tried different temps and different flavors to give me some variety. Protein, I am not doing as well, but trying to get in as much as I can. Congrats on the 28 lbs!!!:becky: :hippie:
  11. Congrats to you on your weight loss and your upcoming wedding!!! How very exciting. You are doing fabulous girl, you've lost over a 100 lbs!! Wow!! I hope you meet your goal for your wedding day. I'm sure you can do it!!
  12. Hey girl, I know it can all be so overwhelming, but as the others have said, just focus on liquids right now to stay hydrated. Try different things at different temps, sometimes cold drinks make our tummies spasm. So room temp or even warm things may feel better. Warm broth, warm tea, etc. And I try to avoid drinks that are acidic, like the lemonade drink mixes for now. Are you on a PPI? I notice that the acid reducing meds are helping a lot on the tummy grumbling and weird noises. I take 2 at night and 1 in the morning. I am walking and taking Gas X strips all through the day for the gas. It seems to be helping, but not eliminating it completely, but it's not causing me a lot of pain. I haven't even started on my vitamins yet, until I get all the fluids in. I bought some chewable vitamins today and I will try them in the next few days to see how they do. Just hang in there, it will get better.
  13. Good luck to you, hope you have an easy recovery
  14. Congrats and good luck!! Tomorrow is my surgery also, and I am so excited!! See you on the losers bench!!! Kelly
  15. Congrats on being sleeved and it sounds like you are beginning to feel pretty good. Glad your revision went well and was a success! Kelly
  16. Congrats that you are getting sleeved in the morning, so am I!! Yes I have a lot of mixed emotions. I alternate between fear, anxiety, excitement, etc. I think what you're feeling is very natural. We are about to make a lot of lifestyle changes. Change is scary, and we normally do resist, but it's necessary to be healthy and happy. While it requires changing our eating behavior, it will all be worth it when we can live a longer healthier life and be here for ourselves and our families. I am tired of being a spectator in life, and I want to really live. Good luck to you tomorrow and please keep us updated!! Kelly
  17. Congrats on being sleeved!!
  18. Welcome, you have found a wonderful place for support. Looking forward to more of your posts.
  19. So they won't give you clearance for surgery? So sorry to hear this, but don't give up, cuz you are fighting for your life!! I've been trying to get surgery for 7 yrs now. I am scheduled for 5/16. It took a long time but I learned a lot and feel prepared for the changes that the sleeve will bring. Good luck!! Kelly
  20. Welcome! You will find a wealth of info here and learn so much. Just read and ask questions and good luck on your decision. Kelly
  21. Well you've been doing something right, 130 lbs in 8 months is terrific!!! Congrats on your success so far. That far out you should be able to eat all kinds of different protein. You don't have to use the powders. But you do need to get in protein first, limit carbs and plenty of fluids. How much more weight loss till your at goal? The closer to goal the slower the lbs come off, but you're prob still losing inches. As others said calorie/carb/protein counting really helps. Good luck!! Kelly
  22. Congrats to both of you and welcome to the forum. I know I am getting both nervous and excited the closer my date approaches. I am a few days after y'all on 5/16. Let us know how things go, and I hope you both have a quick and easy recovery! Kelly
  23. Congrats!!!! That is just amazing and I too want details of everything you do! How many calories/protein/carbs do you get a day? Do you or did you ever use protein shakes? You're a sleeve rockstar!! Way to go!! :hippie: Kelly
  24. Lot's of great ideas here!! Thanks for the topic. I would also like to add that you could still bring food, just focus on more protein/low carb recipes. I also love the candle idea. Kelly
  25. That is funny! Looking forward to eating like a bird too! Kelly
