Starting with Low BMI
Thanks so much for sharing your story mini.. I am at the 35BMI and I have had the same thoughts... I am so tired of feeling guilty and depressed. I do my best to make healthy choices and work out. I honestly believe this surgery will give me the added tool(s) to make a life change. I have my last weigh in July 1st. Then it is off to get approval.. I am hoping for an August surgery.

Is it a good time to start yoga yet?
I woulld definitely talk to your doctor before starting any exercise program. It never hurts to verify what type of activity you should be doing. I am sure you will have time for yoga if it is not Ok now. I have a friend that swears by it! : )

Do you have insurance that approved the sleeve?
This surgery is one step on the journey to a healthier you. If you are commited to using the tool along with diet and exercise you can accomplish anything. I am amazed at the stories on this forum of people who have reached their goal (and are keeping it off)... and the people who are doing it right now!! I am so glad I found this forum. Before reading some of the responses in here I felt like I was sooo alone. It is nice to have people who really "GET" what you are experiencing.. pre-op and post.

Do you have insurance that approved the sleeve?
I have UHC and I was required to do the 6 month weight loss program with my surgeon. The time really flies honestly. It is worth it. I have my last weigh in on July 1st. Hoping for a quick approval and surgery date soon.

Study: ghrelin makes you choose bad foods
That is a really intersting article. Thank you very much for posting this. That is my biggest weakness...anything sweet. It would make sense that if I have more grehlin floating around I would be drawn to these types of food more.

July Surgeries
we have a magic bullet... I love it for ease of use. It is not a high powered blender but I knew that when I bought it.. heh It works great for smoothies and ice coffee. I know after the surgery it will be useful for making shakes or soups. The thing I like the most about it is the different size containers and tops. Just make sure you do not screw the blender attachment on really tight..snug is fine but if you screw it on too tight you have a heck of a time getting it off again. heheh

Feeling really sick
If it helps any your urine should be clear... if it is darker colored you are dehydrated and need more fluids. Sorry to hear that you were hit with a double whammy. Hope you feel better quickly!

Am I insane? Alone? Insane AND alone??
I feel the same way... one minute I am ready and gung ho ... then the next minute I am petrified. I have the same thought patterns... maybe I can do it myself... I can change everything. Then I realize if I was going to do it, I would have already made the changes. I have tried weight loss plans and programs until I am blue in the face. I lose the weight but sooner or later I drop everything and it all comes back with a vengence. I have second and third thoughts about the surgery but the reality of my knees hurting and my feet on top of other health issues weigh on me more. I need to make this change for myself and the surgery will make it possible. I have my last weigh in on July 1st... then blood work and PCP approval.... and then I can set a surgery date. I feel lucky that my husband will be doing the same procedure. It will make it easier to have his support and vice versa.

Almost 5 weeks out!
It is wonderful to hear that you are doing so well and you are happy. I get anxious about the surgery and keep talking myself out of it.. then later I look at myself in the mirror or in photos and I talk myself back into it... I am a giant chicken lately. hehe It is nice to see so many people doing so well.

Questions you wish you asked before surgery?
Thank you everyone! I appreciate your responses.

B12 Injections
ovary up? OMG I love that you said that... hahahaha I am a chicken when it comes to shots too so I feel your pain. You could also check to see if the sublingual has a flavored one... just a thought. Good luck!

June Surgery anyone?
Thinking of you Sparkle!! Hope your surgery goes well! : ) Please let us know how you are doing when you can.

What are you looking forward to?
I agree with you Kathy... When I hear someone say things like "just quit eating so much!" I want to scream at them! Most of the people who are blessed with a fast metabolism do not understand what is it like to be an overweight person.

neat website for postop eating

Very Sick- Please Help!
Hope you feel better soon!! The nurse at my bariatric center advised us to get some sample spoons or baby spoons. She said it helps you visualize the right size bite.. She also uses a 1/4 measuring cup when she is making her meals. She said it works better for her if she actually eats out of the measuring cup. Sending you healing energy!! You will find the right balance... remember to have patience with yourself. : )
