1. Dr Aceves is 8750 and you WILL NOT FIND A BETTER TEAM! He's amazing. The hospital is private and so clean, much cleaner than the US. You don't hear about him having leaks or not taking care of his patients like you do some of the 5k Drs. You just can't go wrong with him.
2. Congrats Angie! I remember your posts from when I first started researching this surgery. I always found them honest and encouraging. Happy New Year to you too, hon!
3. I've not had one moment of regret. If I don't lose another pound I will be disapointed but not regret my surgery or the 10k I spent out of pocket. My recovery was easy. I'm almost 3 months out and .2 lbs away from losing 50lbs. I feel much more in control over my eating. I only really struggle around the time of my period and it's having two peice of choclate struggle not a whole box of cookies struggle.
4. I try to keep a little carbs in my morning breakfast but here's what I had this morning. 1/2 a piece of turkey sausage 1 egg 1/4 a piece of toast with butter. The lunch I had yesterday was 3 baked chicken nuggets and 1 french fry dinner 3 chicken wings with blue cheese Snacks 1 oat bar glass of protien chocolate drink (not a shake exactly)
5. Welcome to the board Red. Less than a week away for your new life!
6. Remember to copy and past the last person's list and add your name in then. Somehow things got all mixed up and there are a few names missing on the last few lists.
7. Like Tiff said, crockpot is your friend. ALLRECIPES.COM is even more of a friend. When they say "fold the cheese in" and you are like "What exactly does that mean?" They have videos and tips on how to cook. Here are a couple easy things you can start out making. In your crockpot put 3-4 breast of chicken. Cover in chicken broth. Put in low for 6 hours or high for 3. Once the chicken breaks apart with your fork seperate the chicken in two bowls. Pour bbq sauce over one and you have pulled pork (but it's chicken). You can do the same thing with pork or beef, chicken just sits easier with me. In the other bowl you can put the fixings of your favorite chicken salad (find a recipe on allrecipes) or simmer (cook on med/high) equal parts butter and hot sauce. You want it to the point were it is bubbling just a little not a lot. Once that has simmered for 2 minutes pour it over chicken and then dip it in ranch or bluecheese. Taste just like chicken wings.
8. OMG I'd love to go to the keys! Those are all on my "To do once I'm not a fat ass anymore" list! I am going to Miami with a girlfriend in May/June so I won't be too terribly disapointed if we all decided on vegas instead but still SNORKELING! SAILING!
9. I'm in tennessee so flordia sounds good but seriously I'm sure a few of us could carpool or work something out for a couple days. I would have to go over the weekend as hubby just started a m-f job and has no days off. I'D LOVE to meet everyone!

11. Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you mend physically and emotionally at home. Keep us updated!
12. I paid 8750 for the surgery in Mexico with the "A Team" and it was worth that much x 100 over. I had researched the surgery here in the US also it seems the closer to the border you get teh lower the price. I had a quote for 12000 in TX by a very good surgeon and I believe 1400 in Cali. I ended up spending about 10k with airline tickets for my mom and I and other stuff like shakes, vits, meds, food there and back for her and me.
13. Don't worry about it. I gained 10lbs in a month before I had surgery. I ate everything. It would be breakfast and I HAD to have IHOP omelette for the last time. Lunch a whopper for the last time. Dinner Chicken Tenders from ________. Every day like that. At one point I wish I would have controlled myself better so I could be thinner now and not have to take those extra 10 lbs off. On the other hand I don't miss the food and didn't right after surgery. I don't know if it's because I said goodbye but more likely it's just from the surgery it's self. I did have a 7 day low carb diet before surgery that I very much stuck to. You don't want your liver to be slippery and surgery to have to be put off or your organs harmed.
14. Find another surgeon! VSG sounds liek it would be great for you.
15. I found the guy at GNC very helpful and Hawt btw. I told him I had just had surgery and he showed me which protiens were the best and the shaker bottles. He asked about taking pill forms etc. I have to say the shakes he find "taste really good" are terrible but hey his looks made up for it.
16. I"ve heard you should wait for a year after WLS because some of the skin bounces back.
17. Thanks Irene! I plan to have a happy family gathering, gift giving, headache inducing, stall starting, merry bringing Holidays!
18. I drink until I take my first bite. If I drink while I'm eating it makes me feel sick. I wait about 30 minutes after to drink again.
19. Brownbear you most certainly aren't a coward. Would you call someone who went through chemo a coward? That they took the short cut to beating cancer by just not trying harder? Of course it's different but there are many studies that show how obesity is in our jeans not just in our heads. I know how you feel about losing food and it was such an issue I worried about pre-op. I always used food when I was happy or sad or bored. Now i'm just bored when I'm bored and that kinda sucks but let me tell you. The high of losing weight is much stronger than the high of eating what you want. I'm not sure how I will get that high once I'm on to maintaining my weight but it is most certainly a high. My suggestion to you, at 25, is move your ass and get that VSG asap (as long as you have a good surgeon who you have researched). I wish WISH WISH I would have done this at 20 or 15 or hell at 12. I'm now 32 and I can see myself wishing for a second youth.

Just an edit to say I went back and reread the previous posters and what I said was basically a repeat of Lila's. Oh well my bad
20. I started eating salads and nuts about a month out. I eat nuts when I have to skip meals from not being at home like when I'm working or out shopping I keep a small amount of nuts to eat so I don't get to teh starving point and overeat at the next meal. I have had salads twice and I've never heard my stomach talk more. I cannot hold more salad than other foods just lots of rumbling and gurgling from my tummy.
21. Well my reason for face shots is that everyone I know takes absolute horrible body shots I'm the only one who can take decent pictures around here. I did take some pics in the mirror for my 10 week post but wouldnt' you know it, it was all body no face. Just can't win I guess! You are looking great, it's amazing to see your updated profile pic. You have reason to feel sexay!
22. Grats! I've been wondering how you were doing, haven't seen you around for a while.
23. Yep I don't lose when I'm on my period either for the days before actuallly and I've had 2 long stalls with big losses right after them. The only thing I've found that might help them is drinking more water.
