  1. ME? Yes, Ren was my surgeon. Have you gotten any fills with Gaspar?
  2. Sounds gooooood. I need me a crock pot
  3. I have the band, I did the liquid diet for two weeks my sister had the sleeve (with another doctor) and she was NOT required to do it. I suggested and advised her to do it and she did NOT (she's older and thinks I'm stupid) LoL. She had no complications. I would suggest and advise you to do it anyway, it won't HURT you Low carb diets are, for the most part, high in FAT. If you were not getting adequate amounts of fats, that might have been a reason why you were "hungry" a lot. I was NEVER hungry when I was low-carbing on Atkins.
  4. I too mourned my steak & ribs before surgery... For nothing, really, because I've been able to still enjoy them. My most recent fill was Tuesday, so I'm still on soft foods and don't know yet if I'll be able to have steak again, but I think I will. How do you like your steak? I've always liked it medium-rare to medium.... It's the easiest to swallow now with the band anyway.
  5. I didn't quite understand where in your journey you are exactly (post op or pre op- and how long) but, if its the actual food you had that worries you, I don't see a problem with that... Unless you had a BUCKET full of skin, and I know you didn't. I went to KFC three weeks ago and I had exactly what you had, except I always go for the thigh meat which is more moist than the breast. Ps.... What happened to your first band?
  6. Ohhhhh, emmmm, geeeee, you guys, this flatulence is ridiculous!! LoL!!! Sorry for the tmi comment but I'm weirded out because Beans have NEVER had this effect on me. Sheesh!! And I've made chili before and this has never happened. Anywhooo, I have about six servings in the freezer- and I don't care. Hubby better cover his ears for the next week or so.
  7. Does anyone know if Chili freeze well?
  8. Another great recipe site is Linda's LowCarb http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/ And fyi, low carb & low fat usually don't go together
  9. Simple. Water Lots of it.
  10. My surgeon is VERY thin, however, her husband and partner is a bariatric patient. The NP that does my fills is also banded, and I think one of the front desk girls.
  11. I think most of us go in KNOWING there are cases where the LapBand doesn't work if we do our research. I'm glad you've been able to continue losing.
  12. Do you have a link that explains this diet?
  13. Papaya enzyme helps with food breakdown
  14. What's his sorry excuse for not working? It's not easy supporting a household with six kids including special needs children on one income. Please tell us he at least cooks, cleans, and does laundry!! LindaFromFlorida has good points and I agree with her a lot.... But you fell out of love two years ago and that's a mighty load to carry.
  15. I looooooove that cold, moving feeling I get when i drink ice cold water.
  16. Wendydarling, when I look at your default pic, all I see is a beautiful girl.
  17. I think what she's saying is exactly the opposite... What I understand is that she CAN eat that 16oz "steak", for example, and not feel miserable like you would. Same with me, I can eat more than 1cup before I get that satiety signal, which in my case is a sigh; although, I try most of the time to stay within the 1cup recommendation. But when I DO, I'm usually hungry before the 4 hours. I'm not sure if I'm "there" or I need another (conservative) fill. What do you all think?
  18. I WANT SOME!! Not for me, but for my 10 year old. She rarely drinks soda, but it's the only soda she likes (BCS) PS... I hate artificial sweeteners. I rather have the REAL stuff, so my sugar intake is VERY limited.
  19. Sweet, Miss-Cherry, this is not the end of the line for you. There are other options. PLEASE, get the medical help you need NOW!!! When you're doing good and possibly revised to another method, we'll be hear to listen how you pulled through, and even better, you can maybe even be someone else's lifeline, who might go through this in the future.
  20. Good luck!! Let us know how it goes. You can search surgeons on this site and you can find people who have had their surgeries with her. Maybe compare notes or ask questions.
  21. I was reprimanded by the NP when he saw me pouring COLD water after my fill a few months ago. He told me cold liquids "tighten" the band, and I should drink room temperature or warm water to test restriction after a fill and to "relax" the band.
  22. You've had 3 years to lax, it's time to grab the bull (sugar) by the horns and take control of your life. You are SO close!
