TEAM SASHA PINK reacted to linds&herband in My banded life
Thanks everyone! I'll keep trucking along. Every day is a clean slate. It's been a long strange trip trying to figure out how to live with the band and after 11 months I think I finally understand how to work with it and use the tool to my best advantage.

Damn I thought friends were suppose to support each other! I am choosing the band cause I want to lose the weight slow. My wife on the other hand is getting the sleeve. I think removing the stomach is crazy but she did the research and she feels its the best one for her. 75 lbs in a year is good! Besides you don't wanna lose it too fast. Sounds like you are doing good. Don't let know one get you down!

I understand and I feel you made the right decision. I hv friends that have had both surgeries. I selected the lap band because you are in control and can like you sttd still have children.
The slower the weightloss the better. Sleeve you cant control it at all and I agree stomach can strech out. You do you. Be healthy and stop second guessing yourself. U are beautiful!!!

Yeah - doesn't make much sense. Since I'm newly banded, I'm going to follow their instructions to the T, but I'm sure in time I'll alter some things that work better for me :-) As long as I keep losing weight, I'm good

TEAM SASHA PINK reacted to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in drinking
My doctor said I could drink right up until the time I started eating then 30 minutes after.
However, recent research is proving even that is unnecessary They now know that it takes food less than a minute to pass through the band when eaten properly. It doesn't sit up on the band as originally thought so there isn't anything to "wash through". For this reasons, a lot of doctors are changing their recommendations to small sips while while eating is fine and simply drink as normal any other time.

I drink right up till I eat (it goes right thru so I don't understand why you have to wait 30 minutes) then I can feel when I can drink afterwards (I've had my band for 3 1/2 yrs, you will learn to feel it soon), usually 30-45 minutes later. I CAN'T drink while eating - it'll all come right back up. I guess that good. No wanting to drink while eating!

Per mine I drink up to meal time then 60 minutes after. If i drink too soon my meals want to come back up. Congrats on your surgery!

I still don't understand why going without fluids BEFORE makes a difference. The food isn't in there yet, it'll go right thru. This is what my dr explained, at least. I understand the concept AFTER eating, but before?

TEAM SASHA PINK reacted to SueBee01 in Substitute for Pizza? Mac and Cheese?
I just tried Papa Murphys pizza today. I got the Delite thin crust, herb red sauce (no added sugar), spinach, chicken, mushrooms, and cheese. You take it home and bake it. I added a litle garlic Ms Dash. I had one piece and it was awesome. The crust cooks crispy so I had no problems. I was very satisfied with one piece.
It is like a subway for pizza! You pick what ever you want for your toppings.

TEAM SASHA PINK reacted to Kallets in Finally
Well after 9 months, an allergy to surgical glue, getting sick after everything I ate, visit after visit to the surgeon and er, realizing the band was too tight, and going on and off liquids, I think I've finally found the green zone! There's hope!!

If you can't eat enough healthy food to sustain, then yes it would be too tight.
Sometimes when people say they "can't" eat more than a couple bites they don't always mean it's physically impossible to eat more but rather they simply don't need or want more. They're satisfied on very little food.< /p>
