New, with a Question
Don't freak out! I was banded on 12:14 and I haven ad 3 c-sections also. There. Is no comparison. I did not feel pain in the 6 small incisions. Some port pain but it takes an extra week for it to subside! Don't worry you'll be fine. There is no bigger wuss than me! Good luck and God bless!

Short Cut?
I have come to the conclusion that banding is no cop out or easy beat out. People don't understand that this, for us, is a desperate measure! We are unable to lose weight by any other means! It's our time to shine! We need not worry about opinions right now. It's your dream, go for it!

Hi, my name is Aly and I was banded on 12/4. I just thought i would come back before I move out to the post op forums and post a few things that you may experience post surgery that are absolutely part of the healing process. Port pain is normal and can last upto one month. You can reduce the shart pains by holding your belly in that area when moving around. You will probably be able to sleep on your side after day 11 or 12. Gas pains are ormal and should subside by days 8 to 10, but it could be a lot worse! The ore you walk the less pain you will have. I took cruched Percocet for 7 days every 4-6 hrs. Do ot take pills whole even if others tell you it's ok! A stuck episode is painful. Please do not eat mushies until after the third week.. You may Think you know your body, but you really don't know how bad it is until you experience it! I did, and I filled up with gas worse than after the surgery and the cramping wasso bad I almost went to the ER. Take small sips at first. But drink, dont worry about losing weiight during the healing process, many do, but many don't. It is normal to not lose weight while healing. Do not exercise, lift or bend so that you will not herniate sutures. You will only have to have surgery again to repair them. Whatever you do, bbut Miralax and start aking it in your crystal light after the surgery. Pain meds make you constipated and many of us wind up in the hospital with impaction. You can easily avoid this using the Miralax at least every other day. I hope this information is helpful for someone. Besides the bit of pain and discomfort, you will find that it was well worth it! The best is yet to come and nskinny days are aheaad, have fun and don't be scared. Everything will be ok"- In the hospital-AGAIN! so frustrated!!
Once I got home from the hospital I started to use Miralax powder. Tasteless, gentle!- December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!
I was banded on 12/14 and am doing ok. I'm experiencing a couple of wired things but that's part of the game. Have lost 24lbs! Does that sound ok?- PORT ANGRY
You really should not take Motrin or ibuprophen because these are NSAIDs. (Anti-inflammatories) these can erode the lining of your new stomach! I take adult strength liquid Tylenol from CVS! Works fine!- What a liberating moment for me!
I admire your way of thinking! Job well done! You guys inspire me!- Newley banded.
Let me give you an idea of what can happen when you try to jump the gun thinking you know your body! Please do not skip the first 7 days clear liquids, following 2 weeks full liquids and then 1 week mushies. I am 14 days post op and I had mostly lost all the bloating and gas. Yesterday I thought I could skip to mushies and I had 2 oz. white rice with stewed chicken sauce for lunch and dinner. I chewed until liquifying and thought I'd be ok. Last night my upper abdomen swelled up like I was 5 mos. pregnant with gas. It's now 5 am and I have slept one hr. I threw my body back one week! Cannot pass gas, and I am in a lot of pain! Please don't trust your instincts as I did. I thought I was going to die last night!- Gastritis????
What are your symptoms? I have pain in the hiatal area under the breastbone.- Infected stitches
You can use 1/2 & 1/2 peroxide/water or else you break down healthy tissue!- Cough after eating
I get the watery nose!- how is this even possible
I completely agree with 2muchfun! I don't do fruit juice or salted broth and I have lost 14 pounds since being banded 12/14. Also, the more water and crystal light I drink, the more I lose!- Just a question about your goals
I am 267 at 5'5" and my goal weight is 150. I am medium build and anything else makes me look unhealthy!- What is this "full" feeling when I haven't even eaten?
- Soo hungry!!!
Sweetie I am 13 days post op and I have started mushies today! Not because I'm hungry but because with the hiatal hernia repair I was having more gas accumulation and up a few times a night. I had 1/4 cup cooked long grain rice with stewed chicken sauce for lunch and dinner. I feel much better, expelled a lot of gas and just made sure it was liquified before I swallowed! - December Bandwagon Supporters
