hely88 reacted to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in Help get back
Weight loss boils down to simple math, if you consume less calories than you burn, you lose. The easiest way to make sure this happens is to track every calorie you eat and stay to a cup or less of food per meal.
Btw, "losing fast" is unlikely. The average is 1-2 pounds per week. Be realistic with yourself and your goals so you don't set yourself up for failure.
Best wishes.

The only way to know is to call your insurance company and make some appointments with surgery. Unfortunatley everyone is different. I wish you the best of luck no doubt losing weigh will definetly help you have less pain.

This quote is so true!! Often I hear people complaining of not seeing a drop on the scale (understandable!), but they do see results in how their clothes fit etc.. Then, they get a positive outlook because of the loss in inches and what do you know, the scale starts dropping!!!!

hely88 reacted to elcee in Surgeon didnt recommend a first fill
Forget the cup measurement and look at what is happening. You are losing weight(a large amount of weight) every week. Why would you want to mess with that? Save the fills for later when you need them, just keep doing what you are doing as it is obviously working.

hely88 reacted to Destined*Lady*D in Surgeon didnt recommend a first fill
I agree. I have been through a similar issue with my Doc. I have a 10CC band and started with no fill. I just have a 10 week check in and I am loosing weight at about the same rate you are. From what I understand, if we are working out harder you are going to eat more and eat slightly larger portions due to the amount of calories burned. You should not be fully replacing all the calories that you burn. However, as the previous bandsters have stated, This journey is not about restriction.
You have already made some amazing changes in your diet and with the addition of exercise, you are getting awesome results. Just know that either way that you choose, this is your journey. However, I don't think that you are at that phase yet. I would save the fill for when your weight loss really slows or your body starts to not respond to your workouts.
Either way, Cheers to your journey and your accomplishments so far.

my first thing that i HAD to change was my attitude
if i went into this (surgery) with a what if i cant, what if that, what if this, i would have been in for a long ride.....the first thing i changed was ME...i told myself if i was able to get my insurance to approve this surgery, and find a great doctor, that i would do whatever it took to help myself..sure i failed in the past and this was my (last stand)..once i changed my attitude from woe is me and i cant to I WANT.....it was game on.......and i can see the end zone from here..

Your secondary won't pay until your primary has paid so I wouldn't risk it. I would recommend waiting the 6 months to get your maximum benefits from both companies. Good luck to you!

Dear Weight Loss Comrades:
I survived my LapBand surgery today and surprisingly, I feel great. I was really expecting to be in more pain than what I am.
Went in for the surgery at 6 a.m. Surgery performed 7:30 a.m. Discharged at 11 a.m.
The incisions are very tiny. With the exception of some really mild stomach discomfort (which is alleviated with my heated blanket), I feel great for having underwent surgery. Again, I was really expecting to be in a lot more pain than I am.
Haven't regretted anything. I already lost 14 pounds just from having been on the pre-op liquid diet.
This is so worth it!!!

hely88 reacted to JACKIEO85 in Stomach Spasm Problem - Need Advice
Stomach spasms are uncontrollable muscular movements in the abdominal area. They may be sudden and painful. Although the occasional stomach spasm is normal, prolonged bouts are likely the consequence of an underlying condition. Disorders impacting the gastrointestinal tract, like gastroparesis and irritable bowel syndrome, are particularly prevalent with stomach spasms. Other causes can include infections or pregnancy.
Inflammatory issues with the lining of the stomach are one major cause of stomach muscle spasms. Invasive substances such as viruses and bacteria can infect these areas, causing irritation and resulting spasms. Individuals with levels of food sensitivity or food intolerance may also be vulnerable. Allergies to fools like dairy products can cause inflammation and stomach spasms in these cases.
Similar digestive disorders can create stomach issues as well. For example, gastroesopageal reflux disease (GERD) can cause imbalances in the amount of acid the stomach produces. The muscle that keeps acid out of the esophagus is also faulty in this condition. These combined abnormalities may facilitate both stomach spasms and esophageal spasms.
A disease known as gastroparesis also holds stomach spasms among its chief symptoms. The vagus nerve, which controls the muscular contractions that move food through the digestive system, malfunctions in this condition. As a result, muscular function in the stomach is hindered and food passes slowly in the tract. A number of stomach ailments can follow, including nausea, burning sensations, and spasms. GERD is one common cause of this condition, as are diabetes and other chronic disorders.
http://www.wisegeek....mach-spasms.htm
A hiatal hernia occurs when part of your stomach pushes upward through your diaphragm. Your diaphragm normally has a small opening (hiatus) through which your food tube (esophagus) passes on its way to connect to your stomach. The stomach can push up through this opening and cause a hiatal hernia.
In most cases, a small hiatal hernia doesn't cause problems, and you may never know you have a hiatal hernia unless your doctor discovers it when checking for another condition. But a large hiatal hernia can allow food and acid to back up into your esophagus, leading to heartburn. Self-care measures or medications can usually relieve these symptoms, although a very large hiatal hernia sometimes requires surgery.

If an Un-fill is necessary it doesn't mean you will automatically gain your weight back, yes it might be tougher to lose weight BUT you really Need to KNOW WHY your having spasms. That is far more important at this point. your issue of being able to eat unhindered at times is normal, But having trouble drinking simple Water IS a problem (sounds like your too tight?) Being too tight can also cause esophageal problems, dehydration etc..
If the spasms are due to a Vagus Nerve issue that isn't anything to take lightly
Good Luck Keep us posted please!!

Yes please check out Missy's link!! If you do not need a fill please dont get one. I have a friend who has lost 75 lbs so far since mid December with no fills. I also met someone at a group who lost around 150 with no fill. Not everyone needs fills. Wish I didnt would make my journey so much easier because I usually end up tight and have to get unfilled.
