Best decision I made for myself! Although I did not reach my yearly goal of 100lbs, the number is slowly starting to not take control, it is about getting there, period. I have lost about 90lbs (89.6!) and I am grateful. I am not there yet but I am on my way, however I can now say that I can stand on my own and no longer need to lean on my band "Oscar the grouch" to take the lead. I am doing it on my own and loving it!
Perhaps, just perhaps I will get another fill when I hit a plateau and need that extra push.
I appreciate this forum for the guidance it has given me, although I have never physically met anybody who has had the lapband yet, I know I can pick the brains of all you fellow cyber-bandsters!
Much love,
-Jason

Welcome to the club :-)
I was banded back on 2007. The only problem I had from surgery was alot of gas in my shoulders and a sore stomach, you have to walk to get the gas out. I weighted in at 309 lbs, I lost 100 lbs the 1st year. I got pregnant in 2009 and gained 60 lbs back, but most of that was due to being on bed rest. I gave birth in 2010 and well its 2012 now & I'm down to 188. You just have to remember that its a tool and weight loss might be slow in some cases but it will happen. Best of luck to you.

Thanks everyone for your answers and support. I just called my surgeons office and they said I can add Protein to Water. So I can make it until Oct 11th. And I guess your right this pre-op diet will get me ready for the post-op diet. Thanks again:)

Msdropinoff reacted to meyouus in Coffee Nutritive Values, A Shocker!
I have been doing very well with my (food)lifestyle change lately. Had a big bump in the road a while back, but it's been worked out (thank you to those that helped me). However, I've jumped in head first into a cross over addiction, flavored iced coffee from my hot spot, Dunkin Donuts. I almost always drink Decaf, btw. Anyway, I stepped out of my blind spot and looked up the nutrional values of my drink of choice, and I half knew and half denied the reality of drinking such drinks. I "was" using Equal, that makes up for all the damage doesn't it, NOT! The calories weren't over the top but the carbs were through the roof! A serious change in this new addiction is in order.
IWhen I do go back to DD, I will buy my iced coffee with no flavor or cream. I LOVE coffee and don'twant to part with it, I just need to alter the ingredients. I drink it black in hot form, why not try iced form?
Yet another adjustment in living successfully with my band. And if I can succeed with my food intake, I can succeed in my coffee. They're just Fluid calories/fat/carbs, a no-no anyway.
So I caution those of you to bite the bullet as I did and find out the nutrional values in your coffee choices. You may be shocked, but it will put you in the right direction!

Msdropinoff reacted to AggiePaige in Clean Your Plate Club
I never realized I was a member of this club until I was banded. At first, I would really push the limits of my band because I didn't want to "waste" food, resulting in PB's and hours of discomfort and pain. Now, I am aware of every bite and I use a small plate to avoid the "waste" guilt. What techniques do you use to stay out of this club?

Don't forget that even if you eat out you can get good mushies. All restaurants have blenders and will chop up what ever you want. I used to get fish or scrambled eggs and mash them with a fork. Or any meat chopped really fine with broth or mayo. Good luck!
