  1. awww are you far away now? Wait a minute.. you had to do a supervised diet for a year?
  2. Hi! If there is anyone out there that lives in or near Alexandria, VA and would like to get together to exercise once or twice a week, please let me know! I am just staring my 6 month supervised program. However, ANYONE is welcomed, wether you are just starting like me, you are pre-op, or post-op! I figure it'll be fun to workout together and support each other! **Suggestions welcomed too!!**
  3. Awesome!! I love this pic and im so happy for you!!! I know that has to be a FANTASTIC feeling!!!
  4. I also have the 6 month diet thing. I was kinda bummed at first but now i realize this is a HUGE change, and these 6 months could make or break your success. You will learn about eating habits that will help you be successful post-op, prepare your mind, and the psych appointment will also help. In addition, execise is needed and 1 good thing is you can start tightening your skin now so that it wont end up being ultra saggy Look at the bright side. I started my 6 mo plan TODAY so maybe we can be surgery buddies!!
  5. lol I know i feel overwhelmed. I also have to get a sleep study, and endoscopy!! I will be overly prepared on surgery day lol
  6. Congrats and good luck!!! Cant wait for your reports from "the other side"
  7. For me, it is required by my Insurance company, and my surgeons office as well. I also have to do the 6 month diet AND sit with a exercise specialist, dietary specialist and a behavioral health specialist! They require alot!
  8. Thats really sad that he doesn't support you Im so sorry you have to go through that. I am also 27, with sleep apnea and 255lbs. I have been on here just a few days and the support is amazing! If you have no one else to support you, meet people here and I think that will help a bunch!!
  9. Yes it really does!! I am glad I found this place, it really eases my fears because there is a post or group that talks about any concern i could possibly have lol. Also hearing all the positive responses and seeing succesful people!! Im so happy! Also im glad you stopped discussing it with her and i bet you guys will still be great friends!
  10. I know how you feel. One of my friends that I really expected to support me, acted the same way. My response was: If you are not going to support me, then we will permanently remove this topic from the table, and ill keep this part of my life to myself". Simply -- and we never talked about it again. I am still Pre-Op, so I can't offer MUCH advice about the surgery, but I did read a posting on here, written by a Personal Trainer that said to start working out before hand (not cardio, but strength training) to build muscle now, which will in turn start tightening your skin and of course muscle burns fat He even listed a website with tutorial strength-training videos (www.bodybuilding.com/exercises/). This is what I will start doing NOW and continue to do after surgery. There are exercises that will also work on your boobs Lastly, every single person that I have seen lose weight (from exercise, surgery, diet, etc.) has looked YOUNGER afterward, so please do not let her discourage you in ANY way. You know what you need to do for your health. Stand by your decision, and cease to discuss it with her anymore. I know its hard becasue she is your best friend -- but it will not help you, and right now you need support.
  11. This was really helpful, thanks everyone! I am attending the information session on Saturday, and I hope to have a surgeon meeting soon thereafter!! Goodluck with your visit!
  12. Monica I feel sad about having to do the liquid diet as well. However, I look at it as a temporary hurdle, its only for a few weeks, and then you start getting back to solids. The end result is toooooo good to a meer liquid diet deter me from the operation. Health and happiness is at risk. Look at it like that
  13. can you let us know where you get your arm shaper from?
