Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here
My docs keep kind of glazing over it. It feels a lot worse than it looks, so they are more concerned about the ringworm on my back (which is not a concern to me since I don't feel it!!) Find out if it's a boy or girl on Dec. 11th!

Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here
(((Tracy))) I have had this rash come & go on my hands since about 2 months preg.. It was so miserable last night. It flares up for a day and it's gone the next, then comes back another day, etc. Last night my hands were burning so bad like they were in an ant bed.. and I couldn't find any relief (healing lotion, benadryl cream, aloe vera). Anyone seen anything like this or have ideas? I have no known allergies, and it is occurring on both hands (besides the cheap metal, but that's not a diagnosed allergy and I don't have any cheap metals on my hands)

Pregnancy Rash?
I only am saying pregnancy rash because I never had it before I was pregnant!!! 2 months pregnant I got a rash on my back and some burning in my hands. I went to my GP, he said the back looked like ring worm, and my hands weren't real bad so he dismissed it really. I went to my OBGYN a couple weeks later with no improvement (hands were getting worse, started cracking and burning more) she said to put a different cream on my ringworm and to use the cream my GP gave me for my back on my hands. I didn't use it on my hands, just because that rash comes and goes.. to no known pattern I can figure out. Last night it flared up and it was so bad.. it burns so bad, felt like my hands were in an ant bed!! I tried healing lotion, felt worse.. washed that off and tried aloe vera, didn't help much. Anyone seen anything like this or know someone (pregnant or not) that has had something like this and what to do to treat it? I think both my docs were too concerned with the ring worm to pay much attention to my hands. I think it feels a million times worse than it looks.. but its across the top of my knuckles and up my thumb (both hands). On my right hand it's also on my joint knuckles. I have no known allergies.

HELP! Thinking of canceling tomorrow surgery
We all get scared right before surgery, it's normal. My best advise, is to go look through the Before & After pictures thread. I knew the risks of surgery going in, but I did NOT go into complications thread until post-band. Just like every surgery there is an amount of risk & complications & failure rates. If it was 100% perfect, no one would ever question it. But for every bad story, there's plenty of good ones. Go look at the encouraging stories right now. I am so glad I got my band, and so glad I didn't back out (although, my reason for wanting to back out was because I did NOT want a catheter).

Baby food!
I actually liked the baby food. I eat banana baby food as a snack sometimes anyway, so this was just trying different things. I never did try actual meals (like lasagna, or chicken & rice.. that sounded pretty gross) but I ate foods, that I would normally squish up to eat anyway.. Butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and peas. I put salt on the squash & peas and heated them up.. I thought they were very good for what it was. Banana baby food, I still eat & love The butternut squash was my favorite salty food, with a dash of salt in it.. yum yum. The sweet potatoes were pretty good too, I probably added butter to them as well.

bad experience at the doctors regarding flipped port
Sorry you're having to go through all of this My port didn't give me pain, luckily that whole area was numb for several months.. my port did flip, and the only reason I had surgery to fix it, is because my doctor could not access it for fills/unfills. If he could access it, I would not have done a surgery.. again though, I was not in pain. Maybe he thinks your pain will lessen as the nerves are worn out..or the port will eventually stop moving? Can he still access it? I believe you need to feel like you're in good hands with your doc, so I 2nd your idea of finding a new doctor. If the nurses made you drive all that way just to be told what they told you on the phone, I would be livid! My doctor is 3 hours away, so if they wasted my time like that.. well, I would be very vocal.. and then find a new doctor.

Hello Everyone!
Welcome Broken! You can find a lot of good information here about the surgery. I personally liked starting out in the Before & After pictures to get some motivation and hype me up for the surgery.. There's a lot of valuable information all over the place to answer just about any question I could ever have thought of. Good luck with your research!

Hi from Connecticut
Welcome to the forum Betsy! I think we're all scared going into it, it's the unknown and besides complications, worrying if it will work or not. You have to do what you feel is best for you, and once you make a decision, try not to second guess yourself due to fear. Fear of not changing anything is even scarier! I did have a minor complication early on, my port flipped and I had to have a revision surgery 6 months later. Despite that, I think the band is the best decision I ever made. I was down 121lbs before I got pregnant a few months ago.. I have since gained 17lbs back, but I am confident once I have the baby I will be back on track in no time!

Anyone have "The Rabbit"?
I agree, it's more novelty. I tried it just because it's 'the rabbit' and you hear about it.. but.. I prefer my bullet of all things. That could also be preference, I'm not much for dildos anyway. Anytime I do want a dildo, I want it to be as close to the real thing as I can.. don't like the sleek things..

Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here
Creme Brulee is my all time favorite, hands down. Let's get this thread off of page 666!!! I did Christmas lights last year, and everyone we know made fun of them.. so I refuse to do them again! Plus I shouldn't get up on a ladder as a preggo lady.. and I sure as heck know Russell isn't going to do them. For those of you with lots of lights and care to know, Home Depot is doing something.. you trade in your strand of lights and they give you free or discounted energy saving Christmas lights (I vaguely listen to radio commercials) but it may be worth looking into. It's been in the 40's and tonight it's suppose to freeze, all I have for coats are the 3x ones.. and the one Jennifer sent me.. Jennifer I love it, too bad I have 2 white cats.. it's already covered in cat hair So I went to Cato's to get some new jacket(s). The new style is 3/4 sleeve coats & jackets. ARGH?! They display them with a model wearing long sleeve shirts under it, but I prefer a t-shirt style with a coat.. not a 3/4 sleeve coat with a long sleeve shirt. It's so weird.. So I bought several sweaters, that I can use as jackets.. and one of these goofy 3/4 sleeve jackets just because it was cute.. khaki corduroy with big wooden flower-shaped buttons..and baby-doll style so my belly won't outgrow it.

Pff you're rockin in the 100's Tracy!!! And I'm sorry but I laughed when you said Extreme Home Make Over made you cry..... I tell you a secret to make it up to you though.. The attorney commercials "Do you know someone who ..... then call us and blah blah we get you $$".. one of those came on the other day and had some elderly people looking abused and I got teary-eyed.

Well update on my Thanksgiving fiasco.. I'm glad I didn't fly off the lid prematurely, I had hoped it would work out without me having to complain.. anyway, his family says they'd like to come to our family gathering, all depending on his dad's next surgery.. they're putting a splint in his leg veins or something?? But the last thing we heard is that they ARE IN as long as the surgery doesn't conflict. Fingers crossed..

Carb Addiction Out of Control!
I can recommend something.. it worked for me before, but I don't do low-carb anymore. If you can go a certain amount of time with no-carb, your body stops craving it. I would say 1-2 weeks. (Atkins says 2 weeks, but when I did it I think I stopped dying for sugar after 4-7 days) Those 1-2 weeks will be rough because your body is use to carbs, and will be wanting them.. but if you can pull yourself through that time, your body essentially converts how it processes fat & carbs and no longer 'craves'/'needs' carbs.

Hi from a new member
Welcome Iman :smile2: There is a section "food and Nutrition" and once you click on it, near the top there is a recipes section. I'm not sure how many shake recipes there are, but you could probably find some under the liquid phase diet recipes. I also recommend google for things like that, google 'high Protein shake recipes', I found some that way.

hello from missouri
Welcome Ace! Oy, you have pill form pain meds? My doc had given me liquid version codine.. if you have any more trouble, call your doc and see if they can call in a liquid version for you. Taking the pain meds is the best advice I could give you right now. I didn't take mine as I should (I didn't like being loopy), and by day 4 I had pulled something from holding myself funny and ended up in the ER thinking I had a blood clot in my lungs.. I didn't, but it was a headache to sit in the hospital all that time and for nothing, since they decided I just pulled a muscle (doh!). Also, make sure you stick to your post-op diet to a T. It's very important for your healing, and will help you avoid any complications later on.

Just Beginning in MA -- Long post, help!?
Welcome SW, I think we all have some sort of fear of this won't work, like everything else.. but for me, it couldn't hurt. I was crippled at 20 from back pains (I was 23 by time I decided to get the band). I had a back up.. if this didn't work, I would resort to RnY. If that didn't work, well.. then I give up.. but I at least had to try, ya know? I think the band is the best think I decided to do for myself, and was pleased to know it works great! My back pains were completely gone in a matter of months, I think it was only 50lbs(ish) I had to lose to stop the pain, who knew!!! To get started, I just looked up bariatric doctors in my area and the nurse would tell me what was required (Generically, they require a 1. consultation 2. Psych evaltuation). If your insurance is paying, they may require more steps, but the doctor's office should have a person in charge of handling insurance needs and will give you a rundown of that at your consultation. I consulted with a couple doctors before deciding on one. The downside of this (I don't know if insurance pays this normally, I was self-pay)was each consultation was a few $100's. The plus side, I got to find a doctor I felt extremely comfortable and happy with. You can also check out the 'local' forum here, US-->MA and see who people recommend in your area for a starting point.
