So sorry you're not getting the accolades you deserve from those close to you. But you should be very proud of yourself!!! What an amazing accomplishment!

I know everyone here has said it, but I'm going to say it again....THIS IS YOUR JOURNEY...STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS ARE GOING TO SAY ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT LOSS.
I have found that you really have to set yourself up for success and a big part of this is visulazing yourself in the healthier, skinnier body that you want. If you focus on failing, you will fail. This way of thinking doesn't happen overnight, but as your mind fills with worry, try and stop that tape running in your head. Figure out some affirmations you can repeat to yourself over and over when you feel the negative thoughts coming over you.
    Example:
I am healthy....I am strong...I am kind....I am losing weight....I am feeling great about my life....I am proud of myself....
If you believe in the power of prayer:
Lord, help me maintain my commitment to this process
Lord, help me shed this weight that is holding me down
Lord, thank you for this opportunity to be healthier
The mind is powerful and to succeed you need to get your body and mind in sync and that means following the new dietary plan and exercising, as well as finding new ways to deal with stress, lonliness, boredom, etc.
We are the same height and I had my surgery 4/6/12 and my body is changing and I feel better than I have in so many years, this will work, you just have to get in the game and make it happen!!!
    Good luck!!! Think positive!!!

Having small children is even greater reason to do this!! The best way to take care of your familly is to take care of yourself! Everyone will survive for a few days while you are in surgery and recovering and then you will be on your way to being the very best mom you can be becasue you will have more energy, you will be healthy and you will be able to teach your kids healthy eating! Shut the comments out. Make the topic off limits with people who can't be positive right now. Sometimes people who care about you do not know how best to support you. You may need to spell it out for them. I need you focus on the positives of my having surgery rigth now. I need you to talk about the good things. If you can't, then please let's just agree not to talk about it. In a year, when you reach goal, you will be the one saying "see I told you so!"

I had to go in for a chest x-ray today and I thought of something...maybe a bit strange...but I CAN'T WAIT until I can fit into a "regular" size hospital gown and blood pressure cuff!!!! The nurse started to hand me a hospital gown and stopped and said...."here, you better take "this one" in case the regular size doesn't fit". I figure there's no need to get offended, because she was right.

I had the same feelings but you have to resist. Just keep reminding yourself you consented to have 85% of your stomach removed and thrown in the trash! This always keeps me on point. Then I look at my 4 little scars.

    First of all, STOP THAT!
    You are NOT DISAPPOINTING ANYONE!
You are in a battle and you're going to succeed.
Don't worry about others, worry about yourself. You need to do this for you. If others think you aren't doing a good enough job, they can kick dirt. They have ZERO clue what you're going through.
Remember, this is your life - they don't get to judge. I'm quite certain they aren't god!
If they don't accept you unconditionally when you're struggling, they don't DESERVE you in your success!
Keep your head up and do what you're supposed to. It'll all fall in line.
When someone opens their yap, shove a cookie in it. Better they eat it than you

I'll admit that at first turning 40 was kinda depressing, but now 40's is looking pretty awesome ! Spent my 20's having kids, 30's being overweight and depressed and now will be rockin my sleeve at 40.... life doesn't get any better than this! October can't get here quick enough. To those who have had surgery, congratulations... and to the ones getting ready good luck.

I was talking about in & Out with my husband yesterday and saying.... that is one place I have no current solution for. We will not be going there for a long time together, since I am 19 days post op. There are so many other places with sleeve friendly options. He can go there with out telling me all about it. It is for sure one of the things I will miss, but not worth staying overweight for~!

I've tried P90X and it's crazy tough. One that is tough but is doable for us ladies...Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. Start easy and go at your pace and then repeat the series if you need to. It is crazy fun too. I cannot wait til I drop a few pounds and start it again. I have a very week knee and I am just too heavy for it. But one day I will.

I'm not proud of this, and if the women on this forum hate me for it or are offended, I'm truly sorry. But this was one of my rock bottom moments and it made me realize that I had to do something, anything, about my weight because I didn't like the person I was becoming. And I initially ruled out weight loss surgery because I thought it was too extreme.
Here's my story: I was taking my seat on an airplane and I was sitting next to this woman--not obese but very dumpy--and when I sat down, she gave me a dirty look and made that "scooting over" movement, clearly showing me that she didn't want to sit next to a fat person.
I looked at her and said, "What? What's your problem?" And she replied, "Perhaps you should have bought an extra seat."
Without batting an eyelash, I said, "And you smell like blood. Who's more offended?" She gave me that shocked, pearl-clutching face and wouldn't even look at me for the rest of the flight.
And at the time I actually felt good about saying that to her. Then I went to the airplane restroom. I was washing my hands and realized how inappropriate I was to this woman. I looked at the person staring back at me in the mirror and whispered, "Gustavo Alexander Rena, this is NOT who you are."
That was the very moment I decided to make an appointment with the surgeon.
