  1. Hi folks. I havent been sleeved yet. Hoping for late sept date. I am reading about the carb/ mashed potatoes. I believe though the bulk of your meal should be protien. You should have 20-40 G of carbs to give you enough energy to digest your protien and keep your body from going into starvation mode No less than 800 cal a day . I am an RN and i do a lot of diet teaching. Go figure
  2. Wow. WLS isnt a big thing in CT, at least not yet. I hope Your time flies by.
  3. I have the same problem. My husband loves my curves and although very supportive he gets this forlorned look and asks, "are you sure you want to do this" i remind him my rear is disproportionately larger than the rest of my plus sized body (always hated thet) so i assume it will be larger than the rest of my body as I reduce. Exercise to keep it bouncy and firm!
  4. I will definitely keep you in my meditations and prayers. Have faith, you will heal and it will only be a distant memory once you have regained your strength and lost the weight.
  5. Thank you guys! Those are only 5 of 9 kids. The four youngest are adopted, one with very special needs. The others are in their mid to late 20s and on their own.. I am blessed, but I somehow lost myself in caring for them. It's me time!
  6. Maybe. I dont think so. The requirements were triple checked with 3 different costumer service representatives by my surgeons patient advocate, me, and my primary MDs office. Also, my surgeons office has done several sleeves on federal BCBS patients and the requirements were the same.
  7. I am certain the federal employee bcbs plan req are different. They require 3 monthly nut visits one psych eval and a letter of medical necessity from your PMD. You must have a bMI of 40, or a BMI of 35 with one comorbidity such as diabetes hypertension sleep apnea or hyperlipidemia.
  8. I Am currently starting the second week of my 2 week vacation on Cape Cod. luckily, we are camping at our favorite state park we go to yearly and the folks are always friendly and dress is very casual. i have never been this heavy. i am embarrasses to put on my giant bathing suits and walk the 100 feet to the wonderful lake. Went to Provincetown to go whale watching and notice myself in the shop windows and got so depressed. I want to wear cute sundresses, not moomoos. i want to wear shorts and tank tops, not stretch capris and double x flowy tops. i want to be able to buy the bohemian skirts and dresses you find on the strip. I am tired of hiding behind my kids in group photos. I have to wait and see, finish my requirements and hope to Gosh, my insurance company approves. i want a different body, next time I visit P-town
  9. Also my bariatric group has a patient advocate that checked with insurance before I even had my first consult with the surgeon. She will be putting the packet together for submission once my third Nut visit is complete. They rarely get denials once they have prechecked. Do you gave a patient advocate at your bariatric surgeons office?
  10. That is aweful fed bcbs said bmi over 35 and one comorbidity (htn, diabetes, sleep apnea, hyperlipidemia) for approval. Each bcbs is different. Which one do you have?
  11. I am 5'7" weighing about 233 with a BMI of 36. I was recently diagnosed with hypertension about. 3 months ago which brought me to the decision to have wls. I have federal bCBS amd worry I will be denied. I have since had my psych eval which went fine, my first of 3 NUT visits and a letter of medical necessity from my primary physician. I failed my upper GI endoscopy with H Pylori and gastritis. I am to take 2 strong antibiotics and Prevacid for 2 weeks which have given me metal taste in my mouth. I actually afraid of losing weight because of this. I am to have a h pylori breath. Test. 2 weeks after finishing my antibiotic. I live in fear that rules will change or i get denied because my hypertension is "new". I will be done by sept 6 with all my requirements and hope ther is no problem.
  12. I know i will miss diet Pepsi I am definitely addicted.
  13. Not all Indians have this benefit or have casino dividends. I doubt they would anyway.
  14. I too try to eat everything in Sight, but i have a different reason. I am at the low end of the BMI with comorbidity at 36. I have hypertension, and arthritis. I have to stay above 35 bmi to get the final approval. I had my upper GI endoscopy last week and found to have gastritis and H Pylori. I was put on powerful antibiotics and prevacid and now all I taste is metal. So although I am currently on vacation in Cape Cod, I am not eating much and swimming all day. I think I will probably have my "food funerals" ( love that term) when i get over this thing. I have 2 more nut visits to go the 14 day preop to shrink my liver.
  15. I have had previous major abdominal surgeries. Pajamas sound nice, but the reality is the hospital gown was most practical and comfortable, in and out of bed. Bring a robe if the hospital doesn't have them. It's just a day or two, wouldn't invest in too much on new stuff. When you get home, super stretchy jersey pants and oversized tee will be most comfy until you start getting out of the house. I would definitely aske the surgeon about an abdominal binder. It supports and protects, when you start going out.
  16. For the surgery itself I will have to pay about 500 dollars out of pocket. 150 for the surgeon and 150 a day for inpatient stay of 2 days...plus medication co pays. I also had to pay for 3 Nut visits at 330, pre-op optifast at 220.00. Still i feel really lucky, that's all I have to pay. And I have federal employee insurance!
