init4me, sounds like you did a great job! I would also add that maybe some of the bbq'd meats that don't have the sauce on them would work too. Not sure where you're at transition wise w/beef and pork. Anything grilled and not sauced up should be fine. I don't think your going to derail yourself! Sounds like you had a good time w/your mom!!

Hi ya....yeah I was pretty safe with the chicken and broc. Just thought I would see if anyone knows of something else that maybe I didn't think of....tha'ts why I couldn't of gone on myfitnesspal ( which I am on). I is nice to know that our fair does have healthy options and a TON of other things to experience that's not centered around just food. . Have a good weekend and thanks for reminding me about corn =-)

I went to the Pierogi Festival. There were 19 Pierogi vendors and I think a total of 60 food vendors and didn't eat a thing. There was turkey legs and I should have gotten one to take a few bites, but I had a shake before I left and I ate when I got home.
Fairs are about having fun with the people you were with. At 8 weeks I am pretty secure now with going out. My big test will be going to the movies lol.

If your tummy is ready for it, turkey legs are usually a good choice :low carb, high Protein, and relatively low fat. Sounds like you made a great choice, though!

At 4 weeks I didn't lose a thing. Then at 5 weeks I gained 3 lbs. I was upset. But I kept following the rules and it started coming off again. I am at almost three mths now and doing awesome!

From everything I have read...it seems pretty normal to me. I had my surgery on July 2nd and it seems stalls are inevitable. Just try to start exercising and keep up with your Protein and things should be just fine!

Yup, it's so normal that it happens to most people. Usually around the 3-4 week mark. It's called a "stall" and they've been known to last anywhere from 1week to 4months+. The good news is that the earlier stalls typically dont last more than 3weeks. Not saying they can't. But they usually don't. You can expect this to happen periodically through your journey.

Most of all.......be kind to yourself...you've just been through a huge surgery. Believe me you will start losing.

O.k.....a real pain in the arse! BUT I would rather you go in "healthy" then not ( then your asking for problems my friend...some that you might not wake up for...if you catch my drift....). So do what they say and know that you had some good practice for the liquid part...you'll be all set. P.S. I am sorry that happened...

Hey you I'm diabetic too! I got off the insulin when I lost the 44 lbs on my own and just came off 1/2 my oral meds right out of surgery. I hope I come off the other 1/2 really really soon!

Hey 11 days out and I'm having some pretty good mood swings. My husband probably doesn't know what to do with me. Don't get me wrong...he's been great in being my nurse, I'm just having these up and down mood swings. Anyone else?

I saw the "ads" too. I agree with pookeyism. I think if you suggest something because you use it as a total consumer ( no way attached to the company or making money off it), I think it's great to hear a tip. If you ARE attached to a company or making money from it, then I question why they are posting about it. Just saying....

Getting so excited only 5 more days. I'm really hoping that my type II diabetes levels will drop to the point I won't need my medications anymore ( I already came off my insulin when I lost the 44 lbs ahead of time). Well that's pretty much it, just excited....and nervous too.

I just went to the Orientation class at Woodland Hills and I am waiting (impatiently) for them to call to schedule my Options class. I am barely at the 40 BMI threshold but she told me I can go ahead and start on my 10%...even if that takes me under 40 for the start of Options...she better be right!
The timeline she gave was that we would start Options in 2-5 weeks. Do 12 weeks of classes. Consult with surgeon 1- 2 weeks after classes and surgery date 6-8 weeks after classes. That should be surgery some time this summer. Hopefully sooner rahter than later! I'm anxious to get going!!
I also had a hard time finding information on the timelines. Hopefully this helps someone out there.
I'm 5'10" and would like to lose about 130 pounds. When they calculate "excess weight" what weight do they use for ideal weight? I would love to weigh around 150 but I don't know how realistic that expectation is. I lost a lot of weight about the last 7 years ago and gained it all back so I think the PCP was not going to tell me to go try another diet...that's all I ever do is try diets!

I feel it's probably best to start acting (in your head and with what you eat) ahead of time. You know the old quote...walk like a duck, act like a duck.....you might just be a duck. Well we need to start to change our relationship with food now....today...because the surgery can only do so much for you....when the rubber meets the road we are gonna have to make permanant changes. So you have plenty of time to practice and get good at it.
