So Sloooow...argh!
I am so frustrated with this very slow weight loss. I am 3 weeks post op. I lost 12 lbs the first week, nothing the second week, and gained 3 lbs the third week (have done nothing different other than move to purees, and very little of it at that). I am going to be more diligent about getting in enough protein and water, but I am doing pretty well. Did anyone else have a slow start to their weight loss journey? I am super concerned that this is a bad sign for what to expect in the future. I am hoping that my body is just freaking out right now, and will get in "the zone" soon.

Things I Don't Like About Being Sleeved, What Are Yours?
- Almost 2 Weeks Out Eating Normal Food
Every time you eat something that isn't puréed or mushy this early, you greatly increase your risk of a leak, until weeks 6-8. It's not worth it. Take the food they are eating and purée it. Even that would help prevent a leak. Be careful! Leaks will land you in the hospital for quite some time. I watched someone go through this and it's nothing to mess with.- Cheese Stick
String cheese and low fat cheese is on my mushy food options. String cheese has 7 grams of protein!!- I Feel Like A Thirteen Year Old Lil Girl
It's from the rapid release of estrogen from stored fat. Ask your dermatologist what you can use to help. Hang in there! It will be worth it!- Darned Acid - Anyone Else?
Spoke to my Dr and I'm back on clear liquid for 2 days or until no acid, then same for full liquid, then mushies again. So far no acid today. If this doesn't work, we will look at increasing or changing meds next week. He said usually its a sign the sleeve is irritated and to back off a bit.- Day 5 Post Opp
I am having problems getting all my protein in too. I am 2.5 weeks post op. When I can't get it all in I start to feel really week and tired. I am lucky to get in 40 grams right now.- Darned Acid - Anyone Else?
- Darned Acid - Anyone Else?
I asked the Dr today if I could double the Prilosec by taking it twice a day, and he said no, that it wouldn't help. So I'm looking forward to talking it over with him tomorrow. Thanks for your input everyone!- Darned Acid - Anyone Else?
Do you use sugar free tums or regular?- Darned Acid - Anyone Else?
I'm 18 days post op and have been on soft phase since day 14. I've developed horrible acid reflux, even with a daily PPI. Called Dr and got a message back to return to clear liquid phase until he can call an talk to me later tomorrow. I have not vomited or had pain when eating soft foods, other than this ridiculous acid. Have a feeling he's going to send me back on liquids for a bit.- What Is Everybody Having For Lunch?
Soft Phase Lunch: Hi Protein mashed potatoes made with greek yogurt, mixed with finely ground turkey and cream of chicken soup/greek yogurt gravy. This totalled 1/4 cup, maybe a little less. Recipe posted in recipes Forum.- How Is That Even Possible?
Sorry to hear what you went through. As far as the weight loss goes, I'm going through the exact same thing. Hang in there.- Tomatoes And Cucumbers
I was told absolutely no tomatoes or anything acidic for 12 weeks due to irritating already irritated tissue.- Side
I've been laying on my side since the first day post op and nobody told me not to. Hope I didn't screw anything up!- Delicious Soft Phase Comfort Food
Great ideas! Want to try a couple but my doc said no acidic tomato products for 3 months. Baked ricotta has to wait darn it.- 1St Soft Food
I'm 2 weeks out and had my first soft foods today. They went down well. There is no puréed stage on my surgeon's plan. He says just chew your soft foods to a purée before you swallow. I had: String cheese 2 bites refried beans (got full) Hi protein mashed potatoes with protein gravy and ground turkey (so delish...posted in recipes thread). I was really scared to try food but it went well and I was able to get 2-3 oz in before I was full. So nice to actually chew something!!- Delicious Soft Phase Comfort Food
Mashed potatoes boiled in chicken broth and mashed with Greek yogurt and a little milk. Ground sautéed turkey seasoned with broth and onion and garlic powder. After cooking, chop super fine. Gravy: Low fat cream of chicken Soup mixed with Greek yogurt and chicken broth. Layer and eat...Delish and went down well and stayed down!- Nursejenn's Journey
Congrats to you! I'm 13 days post op, starting soft foods tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!- What I Ate On Vacation (Sleeved July 2Nd)
My surgeon's plan doesn't have a puréed stage. It goes from full liquids week 2 to soft food week 3, but states to chew it to a purée. Full foods except raw veggies and steak week 5.- Pain While Eating
I could only tolerate warm tea for 7 days then all of a sudden I was ok with cold liquid and Popsicles. I had the same pain as you, and it gets better.- Pain! Is This Normal?
Wow on the Ibuprofen! I'm allowed to have it after a month, and it was one of the reasons I went with the sleeve over a bypass.- 10 Days Post Op Not Feeling Well
I find it interesting that every surgeon is so different! I didn't have a drain. I wonder why? Sounds like I didn't miss out though :-)- Protein Help?
I use Isopure protein liquid in the glass bottles. Poured over ice and diluted a bit. I find it tolerable. - Almost 2 Weeks Out Eating Normal Food
