  1. I got mine back within two days! It stunk!! But everyone is different!
  2. I am in NJ too and I know that is quite a drive for the fills. But the thought of just having someone that you dont know mess with your band when you like your doctor, I am not so sure of. I would still look for a doc in the area where you will be at school for emergency reasons, have a number to call or something, but I am not so sure about changing your doc completely. Good luck!
  3. Wishing you the best with the new dr! I had my first fill last week.. and I am on regular food and feeling no restriction, I am going to wait a few more days and then call my doc. I cannot go too long without a fill, I dont want to gain too much back!
  4. It is hard! I havent had a stuck issue yet, so it is a constant reminder thing with me. My first day on solids after my first fill, I took a bite of steak... I felt it. I got so scared as I was in a restaurant! So afraid it was going to come back up, it didnt, but it stopped me for that night. Yet the next meal at home, after I was done eating I was back at my big bites and fast. I know I have to work on it. I think a lot do Good luck!
  5. I am there too! I am not at a good restriction yet. I know this and I try my best to make good choices and keep my food intake to a minimum as much as I can. I am trying my best! I know once I get proper restriction it will be much easier! Good luck to you!
  6. I live a few feet of a 7-11 and yes they are carboated. But the carbonation is so minute, that you hardly notice, its basically flat. Like Mis73 said, freezing kills it.
  7. I agree with everyone. It is up to the person to find out all they can about the surgery before they had it. I also was not told clearly about a regular diet I would have to follow without help for months on end. If I could do this without problem, I wouldnt be in this place to start. However, that being said, I have gotten through this and am looking forward to using this tool that I have been given to its fullest extent! I cannot wait for the right restriction. I am just getting clear on what restriction is. I am understanding that I should not feel too hungry between meals and feel satisfied. I do not feel this at all. So at 3cc, I know I need more of a fill. I am ridding my house of all the foods that I know are too tempting to me.. like all my carby foods, they kill me!! I thought I could do this with those foods in my house, I am wrong!! Another lesson learned!
  8. I had my first fill last week, doc only put in 3cc and was so excited to see the results, well now I know. No restriction! Ack! I was out at a BBQ today, ate a bit more than I should, but with no problem at all. Didnt really even feel full or satisfied when I know I should have been. I know that it is common for first fills to be uneventful, but I was hoping! How long does everyone wait to get their second fill? My doc said he wants me back in 3 months, if all is well. He said he expects to see me within a month and a half, b/c he expects that the first fill was not going to be good enough. Should I wait that long?
  9. yes! I have the same problem. I was always a "night eater" I know, its the worst! I am still having trouble with it. I try to eat a greek yogurt later in the evening, around 8ish, that helps me a bit. I think once I am filled to a good spot I am hoping this resolves some!
  10. I love mfp too! I always come in lower than expected calories. I just keep doing what I am doing. I have a few friends on there now and I have been realizing that they too are coming in too low most days. Sounds like you are doing ok! Keep up the good work!
  11. I had my first fill today. I am so excited. I think I feel more excited than I did getting the band initially. I feel like this is the real start of my future. I know not to expect much restriction, but I am making a step in the right direction. I got 3cc put in, I am on a liquid diet for 24 hours and then a day of mushies, then back to regular food as I can tolerate it. on the down side.. hungry already!! but I will get through this, this part is nothing compared to the initial post op diet!
  12. This is great!!!
  13. All of these stories are great! I am so inspired by each and every one of you! Keep up all the great work!!
  14. and its gluten free! Wow! I might try it just for that! Thanks!!
  15. I sometimes have it hit too, I go to doc tomorrow myself and will ask then. I have not had a fill yet, hopefully tomorrow.. but I was wondering the same thing!
  16. My port is on my upper belly towards my right side, but more centered. It is the biggest and most noticeable scar.
  17. I am going through the same thing. I have gained a few pounds back since my initial loss of 10 pounds. I looked on here and realized it is quite common as I am no longer on liquids and even though I am making better food choices, it is not always perfect. Keep up the good work! It will get better!
  18. Nice job!! Wooohooo!!
  19. Yesterday started ok, I had a dr appt in the morning so I missed Breakfast and when I got home I had a salad in a wrap. It was my husbands birthday and the entire family went to Joe's Crab Shack, I got a meal and brought most of it home. I did have a piece of cake with my family when we got home, my son wanted to sing happy birthday so I indulged! Today, the same thing... early start so no breakfast, lunch was spent at the grocery store (buying good foods for the house, so I have plenty to choose from for my meals) I had left over crab for lunch too. Then I made some fresh eggplant caponata for a bbq tomorrow, tasted that, but ate a bunch of crackers!! dinner consisted of fresh made Asian chicken burgers, they were slider size, I ate 2, with no bun and some broccoli! I tasted more cake tonight.. shame and ate more crackers tonight! UGH! I feel awful. Way too much food for the past few days, even though I didnt hit my calorie intake or my Protein intake. I feel so full! and I did not get in any exercise other than running errands! Sorry for the complaining, I feel just horrible. I have cravings and I just want to eat even though I am not hungry. I still have no restriction, I see the doc on Wednesday. I hope to start the restriction process soon.
  20. You usually will be required to see other doc's as part of a pre op. My insurance approved my surgery, then according to my doc that was doing the lap band for me, I had to see a therapist, a nutritionist, a GI and a pulmonologist. I know some had to see a cardiologist too. Once these pre op appts are completed, then my surgery was scheduled. I do know every doc is different, but I think most had to see some sort of pre op doc's first. You can ask around too.. you will see how everyone was different. Good luck and I wish you the best!!!
  21. I agree with all of the above. I lost 10lbs pre op and up until my first post op visit, now I know I have gained a few back, but I am ok with that right now. I am making good food choices and working hard on portion control. I know when I have restriction I will get help with this. My doc was very specific on the theory "this is the time to heal, not lose weight" I keep drinking my water and eating my protein and we will go with what happens. I see my doc on Tuesday and am hoping for a fill!!
  22. I use fitness pal too.. you can add me if you like tinkerbellswt is my name on there
  23. oh I am a bit jealous! I have not had a fill yet, and I have gained a few pounds back. I lost 10 and have gained 4 back. Not happy about that. I am making better choices, but I have such a hard time sticking to such little amounts of food.. looking forward to the help!
  24. I have only used turkey for years! I omit all eggs too, never needed them, with the other wet liquids it binds just fine! I use Peter Lugers instead of ketchup and drop a bit of soy or whatever else fancies me that day in it. Its always moist and delish!
  25. Nice! Great Job! Keep it up!
