I Think I Need A Buddy. Struggling...
Hi there. I am too in NJ and have a hard time with food choices. I am only 7 weeks post op and still learning the ropes. And there are wonderful people on here who continually remind me, without getting mad at me, that this is a learning experience. That I am ok.. doing my best. I am not lactose intolerant, but I have Celiac's disease and ulcerative colitis. So I feel your pain. Let me know what I can help you with and I will try!

When Was Your 1St Fill? How Much ? And In What Size Band? Effective?
I had 3cc's put in my first fill, which was 6 weeks after surgery. A week later I had another 2cc's put in. I feel some restriction, but not much. I have a 14cc band though. So its obviously a bit bigger, takes more to fill it up.

Killer In Prison Gets Lap Band
This is just an outrage!

How To Tighten A Lap Band Without A Port Head?
I have to agree with Mis. I simply do not see a way to "plug" up the part of the tubing to keep the Fluid in. The port actually does this for us once it is injected into. It also seals itself whereas the tubing does not. The tube would simply have a prick in it where the needle went into it. Sorry! I hope your situation works out for you soon!

Still Hungry!
I am still hungry. I have had two fills, I am at 5cc and about 2 hours after I eat, I am hungry again. My stomach is painfully growling. I am getting better at not eating too much between meals. Its not good enough. At least I dont think so. I dont know if I should call my doc on Monday or not. Should I just try more willpower for a bit? Or should I call and ask? He told me to stick to a liquid and mushy diet with tiny small Snacks when hungry. I dont think its cutting it. Am I just complaining when I should just "man" up and deal with it? Is this just part of the challenge?

Second Fill
thank you to everyone for their help with this post yesterday... I do not feel hungry today at all. I am onto mushies again and this morning I had half a Protein shake, (I was super late getting out the door!) and two small bites of a gf cookie (a new gf bakery, I had to try) and about three bites of cottage cheese and I do not feel hungry. I am not sure I am going to stay this way, but I will take it for now! thanks!!

How Did You Decide Your Goal Weight?
I am setting small goals for myself and will continue to do so for now. Right now I am looking at a goal of 190. Its a long way, but I want something to look forward to!

Second Fill
Mis you are right, it is 14cc band. I hope I will feel some restriction. I did gain back 3 pounds from my last visit (yes I am a bit discouraged, even though it is that time of the month) Thank you for your feedback so quickly. I know logically the answers, but I am feeling a bit down.

Second Fill
Hi! I got my second fill today.. I now have 5cc in a 15cc band. I got the fill at noon today.. and doc was sure that I would feel a lot of restriction. That I wouldnt even be able to have an entire Protein shake at once. (I am on liquids again). However, its four hours after the fill and I have had one shake and one broth and am starving! Not in my head either, my stomach is growling painfully!!! I can get through this now, I am not looking to eat something, I am wondering is this still normal?? My doc was so sure that this fill would make a huge difference, I would barely be able to eat a cup of food when I was back on regular food. It sure doesnt feel it!! Ugh!

Fruit And Lapband
I love my fruit. Especially in the summer, I can hardly resist the peaches and plums.. oh, my mouth waters just to think of them! I can eat them as long as I chew well.

Went To Seminar, Confused And Have Some Questions
I agree with the above too. I have read many people losing 100 pounds or more! Just look around at different posts and ask away. I am looking to lose more than 40 pounds myself. As for the steak, some people can eat it, some cannot. I hear that some can eat it on certain days and other days, not so much. Everyone is different. I did stop drinking soda for this diet, just b/c of pre op and post op and I have never picked it back up. I have moved completely to Water and True Lemon and I am happy for it! Good luck!

One Week Post Op....feeling Overwhelmed!
Like what was said in previous posts, take each day, each hour at a time. I suffer from depression anyway and with this surgery I did get depressed again, it is a side effect. And I didnt have my food to comfort me, it was hard. You can do it, its hard, but it can be done. every day you get through you are closer to the mushy stage. Keep your head up and know that you are not alone!

Question
I still get burps from eating too fast. This is something that I have to learn. I know when I eat right, eat slowly and chew chew chew that I will not burp as much at all. If it is a problem, talk to your doctor

Not Terrible...
This is great to hear! I hope the rest of your healing goes equally as easy!

Dr Suggested Newbie
I am just 40 and have the same problems. I am now in the zone for no more kids and I regret not trying this sooner. I hope you have better luck than I do! I will still try, I havent given up all hope. I also have other health issues, blown discs, bad knees stuff like that b/c of my weight, I weigh more than you do though and I am hoping by next year to be in the right range. Just so you know, I had my tonsils out a few years ago, 3 now, and it was sooo much worse than this surgery. The lap band was a walk in the park! I am not saying there are no risks, but it was easier for me! Read all you can, ask as many questions as you can and I am sure you will make the right decision for yourself! Good Luck!!

Fighting Food Today!
Ugh, I feel for you. That was me yesterday. It was a food type of day yesterday. I am so ashamed to say, that it did win a few times, my intake was higher than it should have been. Today was better, not perfect but better. Its also that time of the month for me.. not happy! But I know it will go away and all will be ok again. Just hang in there... we all have days!

I'm A Vomitphobe - Help!
I am still only 7 weeks post op and I have had no vomiting issues at all. I havent had an issue being stuck yet, but hopefully when it happens I am ready for it! Dont worry! You will be ok!

First Fill, Kind Of A Terrible Experience
I had a tad bit of discomfort with the first fill, but my doc too said the first is always the worst. I did not have any bruising or multiple sticks at all. I used no lidocaine or anything either. I am getting a second fill two weeks after the first b/c of no restriction. I am not sure how long other docs wait though. I hope you feel better soon!

Sigh, So Little Restriction
Well I called my doc today, I had my first fill last Wednesday and I feel no restriction. They are going to fill more next Wednesday. I am ok with that. I have to wait a week to get in, but that is fine! I am glad they arent going to make me wait longer! Whew!
