Medicare insurance
I'm in Ohio and Medicare passed the issue to allow the sleeve in June of this year. I go to a Center of Excellence and was assured that Medicare paid for the sleeve by the doctors person who takes care of the insurance. I had surgery 3 weeks ago and never signed anything that I had to pay. I'm assuming that they paid. Will let you all know if they did not. By the way I am from Cinti, Ohio and go to Dr Northup, excellent doctor.

January 22 is the Day!
I pigged out the whole month before pre-op. Now I am 3 weeks out and down 31 lbs. I don't regret doing it. It was just one of those mental things. I have to have this and that one more time. We both know we are foodaholics and in my case carbaholic. We will have to deal with this the rest of our lives.

Why in the hell did I have this sugery during the holidays! I'm one week out and craving food bad!
Sleeved on Nov 28. With the holidays I had 3 family birthdays and the one I attended there was a coca cola cake that everyone said tasted like a brownie. I was only 4 days out so I sat there with a glass of Water. It has been so rough. But Xmas eve I can make cheese balls the way I can eat them. shredded lunch meats, deviled eggs, a handful of crackers. Sounds so good. As I told a friend, as everyone puts on 5 lbs over the holidays I have lost 31. How many people can say that. Next year is another time and we will have a new body to dress for the holidays.

Boy did I mess up!
Well today 3 weeks ago I had my surgery. For the past 2 days my son and his family plus 2 dogs are staying with us for four day while they are having their kitchen remodeled. I love having them here but I must sit with them over a big meal every night and I can not eat it. I guess after 5 weeks of so little food and not eating is really getting to me. Well they brought hugh chocolate chip Cookies for their dessert. As we were playing a game last night they started to eat them. Later when everyone was in bed I was on the computer and went out and got a cookie and ate the whole thing. My God it is starting already. My love for crap carbs is coming out already. Sad truth is my sleeve accepted it without a twinge. I am also diabetic so my blood sugar went sky high this morning. What is wrong with me. I can not have gone through all of this and go back to all my old habits. I need support.

Best Protein Powder EVER!
Any of the old timers: is this the kind of protein we can have. Looked it up on line and I don't think it is the whey isolate. But then again maybe I just didn't find it.

Best Protein Powder EVER!
You mean that awful protein taste is not there? I can hardly stomach any of these shakes anymore. Even the so called unflavored is awful.

I have had 3 spine surgeries in my life so I know the pain. This pain is nothing like that. There was pain don't get me wrong but not that kind of pain.

anyone with bcbs nj?
I had bcbs in Ohio and I had to do 3 months of nutrition visits. That is probably what you mean.

Yeah 4 days.
Everything will be OK. I told the anethesiolist, Your main job is to make sure I wake up. She said I have to make sure you wake up because there is too much paper work otherwise. We all, about 12 people in the OR with me, had a good laugh and then I was out. I always like to laugh before I am put out. That way it doesn't freak me out so bad. Try it, you won't be so scared.

Surgery scheduled! Normal to feel like I want to eat like a pig until then?
I also had many food funerals before the liquid diet but I have not cheated on the liquid diet or after.

Anyone have the Sleeve and then get the Band too?
You have lost 100 lbs in 5 months. That is amazing. Just keep following what you are doing.
-
scared...
For the first 3 weeks you will have to keep track of your liquids, protein, and I do calories but not necessary because I've only been over 400 1 day.

What is the endo?
Your right on that is what it is.

just got home from surgery on tuesday
So glad to hear that you are doing well and are home. That bad pain on the right side finally went away for me 4 days post op. Then it is a full time job just getting in all the Protein and liquids. Please drink as much as possible. It was very hard for me but now I am 2 weeks out and can drink almost like I did before surgery. Protein is another thing for me. Having a hard time with that. I barely get 300 calories a day and a little shy of 60 protein. Getting in over 48 oz of Water. On the plus side I am down 29 lbs since pre-op diet. You will do just great. You are a male and that is another thing on your side. Best of luck.

Just want some input please
You are doing great. I am 2 weeks out and I am just getting in most everything but a little short on protein. I was not able to get things in that well until 9 days after surgery.

Post sleever today
four days tops. Then you will be wondering how am I going to drink and eat enough. I am 2 weeks post-op and still can only get in 3-400 cal a day. Unbeliveable isn't it. That was the amount that I ate at a fast food sandwich and then added the fries. I have lost 27 lbs already so it will get better keep your eye on the weight falling off.

I feel like such a failure
Are you sure it is stretched or are you eating incorrectly? I would go back to the basics and start over. Are you drinking enough water? I didn't think the sleeve could stretch. I was told they cut out the stretchy part. Maybe others had some thoughts on this.

Is it worth all this? (Sleeved 9/13, then stent, then?)
Sorry about all the problems you are having. I will be praying for you.

Gain 2 pounds and surgery on 12-12-12
Was like a yo-yo. Finally the last month the doctor said if I did not lose 4 lbs in the next month he would not operate. Well, then I lost 6. Now I am post-op 2 weeks and enjoying a 27 lbs weight loss so far. I had food funeral after food funeral. Everything that I saw that I liked I ate. I don't regret it now. I will be able to eat my favorite things again 1 day in moderation. Everyone does the nutritional part in their own way. Whatever is comfortable for you. Best of luck.

What did you do when you were scared post-surg?
The many reasons I went ahead with the sleeve. Diabetes: got very tired of sticking myself 7 times a day like a human pin cushion. 2 weeks out and now I only test. As my weight continued to climb before, I could picture myself in a wheel chair as my mother was for 10 years and dependent on someone forever to push me around and take care of me. My like was getting limited in what I felt like doing. Wanted to live to see my only granddaughter marry and have a baby. I was on a path of self destruction. Since of was put on insulin 2 years ago I have gained 25 lbs. My eating was totally out of control. I was so very depressed and cried all the time. I never wanted to go out. It was too much trouble to just get dressed. Now 2 weeks post-op I have lost 27 lbs and have clothes that I have not worn in 2 years. I have noticed that the depression has lifted for me. I want to go places even though I am so very tired weak. Tomorrow I am going to drive myself Xmas shopping and do as much as I can. My new life is starting and I couldn't be happier. This was a very big decision to have this surgery at age 66. My husband tried to talk me out of it but I kept going. So far I don't regret one minute of all the things I had to go through for 9 months and the pain after surgery. Best of luck to you.

surgery tomorrow, any advice?
I'm 10 days out and I was lucky and never had the gas pain. Don't bother with a robe because you will have a bag of saline on you all the time you are there. I took all this stuff with me and just brought it back home.
