I agree... and think how confusing it must be for your husband too.. I know mine has been pretty quiet on the whole weight loss thing... for the first 50 pounds. Now he gives me a compliment at least once a week. LOL I think he wasn't sure what to say.

I really like the Syntrax Nectar flavors: chocolate Truffle, strawberry Mousse, Vanilla Bean Torte. I didn't care for their other fruit-like flavors. I also recently found that I like the Fit Frappe Mocha Protein Powder (mixed with water). A good unflavored powder that I use is from Isopure. I like to mix a scoop of the unflavored with a scoop of the Fit Frappe for a good 30-ish grams of Protein Shake.< /p>

Fit Frappe is pretty good too. Amazon has it for $40-something but Sam's Club has the same size container for $24.

WELL... as of this morning I was able to secure a December date with another doctor (Sheilendra Suresh Mehta, M.D.) he works with now my old doctor (Erik B. Wilson, M.D.). As a matter of fact I met him before I met with Dr. Wilson – what a strange twist of fate. Now I just need to steady my nerves and take it one day at a time. I know God is in control and everything works just the way He planned, not as I planned...
THANKS FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUGGESTIONS, YOU GUYS ROCK

OK, let's tone the poo flinging down a little on this thread, please.
Melanie, as been pointed out it is YOUR decision. Unless your parent are paying for it, or providing the insurance then it again is up to YOU to heed their advice or not.
We all wish the best for you no matter what decision you make.

Just make sure that the doc removes your gallbladder when you do the surgery or you'll have to make up another lie to cover up if you have to have your gallbladder removed at a later time. Other than that, don't sweat it.

Yep. You are comparing yourself to others. While we all have similar experience, we all experience it differently. Keep your head up. I only lost 10 my first week, but I've lost almost 160 since April this year. We're all different, comparing is not fair to yourself. Enjoy your own journey.

I had a stall that started at week three and lasted for three weeks. Just keep following your doctor's plan and your body will start up again. I think there's so much change going on that it kind of does a "What the heck?!!"

It would be easier for me if I was back on Protein Shakes. I can drink the Protein shakes or I can eat protein, but not both, at least not within 6 hours of each other.....

If popcorn does work for you, be careful. For some, popcorn is a slider food and could lead to a fall down a slippery slope. If you are safe around popcorn and won't eat too much, then I think some popcorn would be fine. I used to inhale popcorn, any type of popcorn, as it was my favorite food pre sleeve. If I ate popcorn post sleeve, I would probably be the first one at the bottom of the slope.

You can also look at the pre-op diet as a way to reset your brain some too. By sticking to the pre-op diet's limitations, once you DO get to eat something else after surgery - it doesn't seem like deprivation. Knowing that the reason for the pre-op diet was to shrink my liver to reduce the chance of the surgeon nicking it helped me to stay on track.

*sigh* ... even though I am a guy. I lost my butt too! It was funny when a coworker came up to me and said "boo, where did you hide your ass?" while looking for it.

    Hi,
I am 4 months post op. I have lost 70 pounds and have 70 more to go. I'm so excited about this journey I am on. I went from a size 30 to 20, my knees barely hurt anymore. I am more active then ever, even doing the eliptical machine. this was the best thing I have done for myself. Thank you to everyone on this website you have answered all my questions and have been very supportive.

kimbernada reacted to SleeveDreamer in Size 2 Jeans At 10 Month Surgiversary
Tomorrow will be my 10 month surgiversary. I had gone from a size 18 jeans to a size 4 skinny jeans. (I have always had very skinny legs.) Yesterday I put on a pair of 4 skinny's I bought a about a month ago but never had worn since they were still a little tight then. And guess what? THEY ARE TOO BIG! I returned them since I never took the tags off and still had the receipt stuck in the pocket and tried on a pair of size 2 and they fit perfectly! I can't believe it! I was so shocked to be in a 4, and now I am blown away from the size 2 skinny's! It is so nice to put on a pair of jeans and zip up the zipper with no problem, and feel comfy all day! I never wore jeans before cuz it was so much of a hassle to get them on and they actually hurt while I was wearing them (and that was also with wearing a flexees or a spanx). I am on maintenance now since I have reached my goal, so I need to make sure I listen to my NUT and start eating more carbs (she said up to 150g per day on maintenance) and boost my calories to 1,200 per day so I won't keep losing! I love my sleeve so much! I wish all of you the success I have had!

Have you tried making instant sugar free pudding with 2 cups skim milk and 2 scoops unflavored Protein? Yum! Mix the milk and the Protein powder first, then add the pudding.< /p>
I didn't have much more than pudding, popsicles, and Protein shakes for the first few weeks. (Sugar free, of course.) Fish is still my sleeve's favorite meat. It's amazing what even a difference of a few days makes in regards to what your sleeve can tolerate.
It's a huge adjustment that our poor tummies have to make, and a huge adjustment in our heads too. Sometimes my head still thinks I can eat more than what my sleeve knows it can have. At about 2-1/2 months out from my surgery, I'm still only able to eat 1/4-1/2 cup of food. (And that's a GOOD thing, I want to always have this kind of restriction.)

I still can't tolerate eggs. Well, sometimes I can. If I use Egg Beaters, I am typically okay. Real eggs? Nope. Steak and chicken doesn't really sit well either, unless it is super tender/moist. Meh, that's okay with me. As long as a restaurant has fish, I'm okay. I wasn't really a fish eater before the surgery, but I LOVE it now.
I've only really started to incorporate fresh fruit and veggies in the last week or so. Fruit more than veggies. My "surgery bible" says that canned veggies are tolerated more easily. (I love canned green Beans.) However, since our focus is Protein, I haven't really tried too hard to get the greens in. The easiest way for ME to get my Protein is to drink a Protein shake (or protein pudding).

Totally tell your nutritionist. She/he can help figure out what foods you could eat instead of what you are eating. You know, "instead of bacon, how about..." Does your weight loss program also have a therapist on staff? Maybe you could visit with the therapist as well, to help determine why you are trying some of these foods. (Sort of a self-sabotaging thing..) Granted, part of the "why" is probably just to see if you can. Us "sleevers" really aren't as limited as someone who has had the gastric bypass. I don't "dump" nor do I "slime". It's up to me to really make the best decisions.
