  1. I'm using Atkins, which is a little higher in fat than recommended, but I felt tortured drinking the others, when I've been drinking Atkins for years, and it's the only one I enjoy. I compromised by drinking 2 Atkins shakes, and a lower fat shake for the 3rd. I was told to drink 4-5 shakes per day, so only drinking 3 is an okay compromise, according to my NUT.
  2. 58 pounds in 8 weeks??? Wow! You are doing amazing, and you're looking great. I know you must be sonorous of yourself.
  3. Well, I've had 2 EGDs, one with only Versed, and it was horribly uncomfortable, not to mention I felt disoriented for several hours later. The other, with propofol administered by a CRNA and it was the "perfect anesthesia". Due to it's short acting properties, I woke up fully alert within minutes of going into the procedure. My total anesthesia cost after insurance paid: $38 bucks. In my opinion, well worth it.
  4. It requires oxygen supplementation, a pulse oximeter, and someone who knows not give CPR to someone laying on a soft surface. None of which, Michael Jackson had. Seriously, propofol is dangerous when administered by someone who either doesn't know what they are doing, or doesn't care about keeping their patient safe. Some states allow advanced practice nurses to administer anesthesia without a MD present. I was given propofol for my EGD by a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist), which is an advanced practice nurse. A lot of GI doctors don't offer it because you don't have to be a CRNA to give Versed. They use RNs for sedation, which is a lot cheaper.
  5. You were pretty before, but now you're stunning. Absolute great job!
  6. Hope everything went well.
  7. That sounds a lot like reflux. Are you on any reflux meds?
  8. Amazing!!!! You're my idol! I'm still pre-op, but I hope to lose 120lbs too. If you don't mind me asking, what are your workouts like? How many days, how many hours, cardio, weight training? Give me all of it, lol. Thanks
  9. As soon as I read it, I thought the same thing.
  10. I don't know if I'll fall into this category after being sleeved, but it's possible. I look at my pension and 401K portfolio everyday, so I guess I could very well start weighing myself everyday too.
  11. It must be a sleeve thing. Even when I was 100lbs lighter, I avoided the scale like the plague. It'll never say what I want it to, and I always end up settling.
  12. Hi! I was just wondering if you had spoken with your doctor and what his next step will be?
  13. Hey Angela, how are you? It's been 2 months already? Wow, time is flying by for you.
  14. It can be high based on a lot of things, none of which can be determined by just bloodwork. Did you have to do a gallbladder ultrasound pre-op?
  15. Yes, I used the search function, and only found it mentioned once with vomiting. I've had some head congestion since the weekend, and today I've had chills. I was just wondering if anyone had them on the pre-op diet, or is this a cold I'm getting? Thanks
  16. I'm an OR nurse and we get the surgeons to call or we call family members all the time. The only catch to it is that if the person you tell us to call is not listed on your hospital contact list, then we can't call. Just let the nurse know, I'm more than sure it won't be a problem. Good Luck!
  17. I'm the single parent of a 16 year old with a mild intellectual disability and speech impairment. I had her when I was 20, so my life as I knew it ended with her birth. I gained 60 pounds during my pregnancy, and she came at 28 weeks gestation, and spent a month and a half in the hospital before coming home. As we were both growing up together, I ate my way through emotions, depression, and disappointment in myself. I had to stop attending college because she was medically fragile, and as she got older, she had speech, PT, & OT twice a week every week. My entire 20s and early 30s were spent trekking back and forth to doctors and therapists appointments, so keeping myself healthy was the last thing on my mind. I finally finished college when I was almost 30, and jumped right back in for graduate school, which I just graduated this year at the age of 36. The journey of being a parent to a special needs child has been hard, but definitely rewarding. She now participates in numerous Special Olympics sports and she cheers on a Special Needs Cheerleading Squad. She's the typical teenager who has an iphone, and wants a car. I tell her that we would have to evacuate the streets everytime she leaves the house, lol.
  18. That sounds yummy!
  19. Order the sample pack, so you can taste them before buying in bulk. Chocolate Splendor was hard for me to get down, strawberry Sorbet was a little easier mixed with diet pink lemonade, and the chicken broth went down the best. I'm planning to order more broth.
  20. It's called a "twilight", where they use propofol.is the same drug you're given to make you sleepy to put the tube down your throat when you get sleeved.
