Uniqueladybug got a reaction from BBdoodle in Taste And Smell
I've tried to research why this happens and there really is no explaination. Some people never experience this. A lot of things turn my stomach now. I had a strong stomach but now I have a weak pouch!

Uniqueladybug reacted to mcdoja in Introduction
just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jason and I am just beginning the process of rout en y bypass surgery. I am 6'3" and about 297 pounds. I currently take blood pressure, gout, and zoloft meds. I also use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea.
i want to go through with this because heart disease is prevalent in my family. My grandfather and uncle (57 years old) bot died of cardiac arrest. My father just received quadruple bypass for his 60th bday. he also requires dialysis due to diabetes. he injects insulin. what should be my father and mothers "golden years" have turned into him being a very sick man and unable to do much of anything.
this is especially sad to me because my mother has worked since she was 14 years old and finally has the $ to be able to travel and enjoy other entertainment because she is basically tethered to my father.
I am hoping this surgery helps me break the cyle of illness and enjoy a longer and higher quality of life than the rest of the men in my family.
my surgeon is Dr. Pelosi of UPMC St. Margarets, Pittsburgh, PA

Uniqueladybug reacted to DLCoggin in Need Info About Post Op Life
Malabsorption is a legitimate concern with gastric bypass but easily controlled with Vitamin supplements. My brother is 14 years post-op and I once asked him what he can eat. His reply was "I eat anything I want to eat." I just had my one year anniversary on Saturday and I can say with absolute honesty that I can eat almost anything I want to eat. I have to be a little careful about sugar. I've exprienced dumping three times in the past year, all related to sugar. But as others have noted, some experience dumping in response to other types of food. And some never experience dumping at all. Everyone is different and as far as I know, it's impossible to predict who will dump and who won't - just too many variables.
Does that mean that I can never have sugar? Absolutely not. I've had an occasional cookie, half a piece of apple pie and any number of other things. It's about control, not denial. Last night, I had two small slices of pizza. The first pizza I've had in about a year and a half. I enjoyed it tremendously and had no problems. So yes, you absolutely will be able to indulge on occasions. It's all about lifestyle changes. All about control, not denial. Many folks have the exact same concerns that you do. Completely understandable but for the most part, completely unfounded. With very few exceptions, you will eventually be able to eat anything you want to eat. And there may be no exceptions at all. Regardless, it's a very, very small price to pay for the truly astounding rewards you will experience. You're gonna love the new you!!

Uniqueladybug got a reaction from DrMomFlrs in Just Want To Feel Better
OK.... Called my doctor and they worked me in for first thing Wed morning. Went and had beautiful done. Also, found some premade shakes at GNC. The guy let me sample some. Much better than the ones you make. A little pricey though. But anything to get my Protein in right now! Ate some chili from Wendy's. Felt a bit nauseous, but it stayed down. Hopefully between Protein and a visit to the doc, I'll feel better by the end off the week! Thanks for all the advice! I love the support on here!!!!

As for me I finally converted back to normal rhythm after over 37 hrs of a fib. It's extremely debilitating I can barely get up to the br without feeling horrible. I really can't wait for the surgery to fix it but that will be 6-12 months of major wt loss before they consider me a good candidate.

I had my surgery Aug 28,12.
So sorry to hear that ur having a hard time. It is hard but think about the outcome. You have to think positive. I'm home alone all day so I don't have much support. So what I did is bought me some index cards and wrote on them and taped them everywhere in my home. Some say things like: YOU CAN DO THIS, THIS IS MY NEW LIFE, GOOD JOB BABY,. I EVEN HAD MY HUSBAND AND SON WRITE SOME FOR ME. IT KEEPS ME GOING STRONG. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

Kinda like dry roasted peanuts...its good! Very crunchy. It feels me up extremely quickly....its not often that I can actually eat the whole 1/4 cup. My husband loves them too and he had never tasted either until after I had surgery.

Uniqueladybug reacted to ladyspl in Giving Lb The Bad News...
One of my goals is to tell Lane Bryant to close my account. I am still paying off the clothes I bought before I made the decision to have surgery, before April, and I only have $250 left. Well apparently they are sweating me not spending in over 6 months that I am being bombed with emails, text messages, mail and now a fancy new credit card. LOL cannot wait to make the call to close the account because I can no longer fit their clothes :-)
Sorry, I just needed to tell someone.

Uniqueladybug reacted to BBdoodle in Weight At A Stand Still
Can I join the club too !!!! My weight has been the same for the past month and a half . I too follow diet, exercise like crazy, get my Protein and Water in. The scale has just not moved and I am getting really freaked out. However, pants that were tight are now loose so something other than the scale moving downward is happening. I am OK with it because weight is just a number that is easily to get obsessed with. I am still positive that it has to move again at some point... geezzzz I work out a a hour and a half most days, jog 2 miles, speed walk, eliptical, run with my dogs etc. etc. eat all the right foods etc. I even increased the intesity of my workouts and wear a heart monitor to make sure I am in the fat burning zone... please scale move just a bit.. please !!!!

Uniqueladybug reacted to itzme752 in Sick Of Protein Drinks!
Adding some Peanut Butter has totally changed my Protein drinks. I use milk, chocolate Protein Powder, a small scoop of Peanut Butter and a couple of ice cubes and blend it together. I have one of the bullet blenders and it is easy and mixes pretty well. It ends up tasting more like a milkshake and very yummy.
