Are you getting your total protein in daily? that is the #1 key in preventing hair loss. Also my surgeon has me on Biotin. I am 6 months post op and have very fine thin hair to begin with and cannot afford to loose any more - LOL. I get a minimum of 64 grams of protein daily and never miss a day without protein or biotin. I have not had any hair loss yet.

I did suffer from hair loss. Up the protein, take biotin and I also use garnier fall fight shampoo and conditioner.

Biotin and more protein

What do you eat/drink to get that much protein in daily. I'm struggling! They definitely think my hair will start to fall out in the next couple months. =(

Like it or not I most days start with a Protein shake so I immediately get 34 grams in....and mostly meats, cheeses, yogurt with Protein powder added through the day. Dry roasted edamane is a good snack too....14 grams of protein in 1/4 cup serving.

Never had edamame. I've heard a lot of people talk about it. What does it taste like?

Kinda like dry roasted peanuts...its good! Very crunchy. It feels me up extremely quickly....its not often that I can actually eat the whole 1/4 cup. My husband loves them too and he had never tasted either until after I had surgery.

I will be honest. I am not eating enough of protein. I have got to get me some proteins shakes also. I hate meat now, but I am getting better about eating it.

Most recently ive been using body fortress...you can get it at walmart....mixed with 8 oz milk. Sometimes I use premier protein already mixed up...30 grams.

Thats what I use body fortress. I think either CVS or Walgreens has it on sale this week

How much have you lost since your surgery, just curious.

Surgery date October 10, 2012 converted from Lapband to RNY, begin weight 230, preop weight 219, now Oct. 18, 2012 weight 213

Almost 35 pounds. That includes 15 pre-op. I'll probably lose a lot in the next couple of weeks. They put me back on strict liquids for two weeks =(

I was panicked about hair loss. Starting taking biotin but stopped because it was giving me more hair everywhere! After talking with my surgeon I felt reassured that the hair loss would be temporary. Definitely get your protein in...it is mostly what your hair is made of. My hair has always fallen out even before surgery but has never been thinning. At 4 months post op it starting coming out like crazy...my hair went from full to fine. I didn't have any bald spots or anything just less hair all over my head. The good news is it stopped at 6 months or so, now at 7 months post op I'm back to my pre op shedding amount.
