Bariatric journey Multiple procedures Since 2019 Preparing for surgery

Everything posted by kah1213

  1. Did he fill ur band when u had the surgery? Or did you have to wait to get ur first fill? I'm doing it outpatient in the city, not in the hospital on long island.
  2. Thanks! I'm having my surgery with him may 30. I'm doing outpatient. Looking forward to my journey!
  3. Banter- did you have the surgery? All good? I'm scheduled w/ Garber end of this month.
  4. Agreed. He told me approx $16,000
  5. I have a couple really good friends that I'm NOT telling. We are friends who eat together if you know what I mean. Food is our bond, but I'm the biggest out of thr group. I fear our relationship will change when I can no longer eat and pig out with them....but change doesn't have to be bad. I just think for now I need to keep this to myself and do this for myself.
  6. I'm 5'6" and have a goal of 150, which would put me in a size 10. Less than that would be wonderful, but I need to see what's going to be realistically maintainable. I told my doc that I'd do a naked cartwheel if I ever got to 140 and he laughed and said be careful what you wish for!
  7. I'm not yet banded but I've heard many people say using gas x and heating pad.
  8. I have to stop taking the pill before surgery. I'm assuming my cycle will be a little crazy for the next couple of months...not looking forward to that! Does anyone know how soon we can go back on the pill again after surgery? I'll have to ask my doc.
  9. Appreciate the feedback deanne
  10. I've read all different posts here and I'm still so curious. How does it really feel with the band? I've read everything from not being able to swallow anything to just a full feeling after a very small meal. I'm honestly confused how it feels hard to get something down--even water. The throat isn't smaller, but the stomach is...so why is it hard to swallow for some? Anyway, maybe this is a silly question. I'm scheduled to be banded later this month. Thanks in advance for any wisdom you can share!
  11. I have UHC and did not have to do the 6 month diet. I guess it depends which plan you're on?
  12. omg that's another reason why I'm not telling anyone!
  13. I'm May 30...it seems SO far away!
  14. Jenny- did u tell people about ur surgery? I feel people hear that I'm thinking about lapband and they're quick to judge and tell me I don't need it or I should do it on my own. Just because I don't have 200lbs to lose doesn't mean the surgery isn't right for me!
  15. I'm choosing not to tell people about my surgery (except my dad and 1 friend). I've found so many people refer to WLS as a quick fix. We all know that's not true, but even when I hear my friends say things like this it makes me upset. I don't need to justify my decision to anyone. I think they're all jealous!
  16. I think a few months ago it was decided that people with bmi of 30 or higher might be eligible for Lapland as opposed to 40+ bmi. I think it's case by case, but usually if youre under 40 bmi, you need to have 1 other problem like sleep apnea, etc.
  17. Good idea! Boarding for a few days will be good to allow me to sleep.
  18. About the recovery days immediately following surgery--- is moving around difficult? I'm trying to decide if I need to put my puppy in daycare for a few days or if I'll be able to take her out for walks.
  19. I'm scheduled to be banded May 30. Going to start tapering my diet next week (less calories/more protein) and then 1 day of liquids before surgery...then 2 weeks liquids after. I'm sorta having my last hurrah right now if you know what I mean!
  20. Wow Jenny so u basically lost almost 20lbs on your own! Amazing. Any secrets to share? Lol
