  1. I traveled alone and was never worried. I felt very safe in Mexico. I even walked from the hotel to the local WalMart(about 15-20 min). No one bothered me or even looked at me. I stayed at the Marriott which was very safe. The elevator is operated by your room key and you can only go to your floor, which means no one can walk in and start wandering around. I truly enjoyed my experience in Mexico.
  2. I hate Isopure. I never have liked it because I feel it has a horrible after taste. I would only buy one bottle to see if you like it. I am 9 weeks out. I have two protein shakes a day plus food during the day. I get around 50-60 grams of protein. However, my first month I did not get even 20 grams a day! I agree with Mina; it's better to concentrate of getting fluid that first month. Good luck!
  3. I'm still early into this at 9 weeks, but I know it's possible to change shoe sizes after losing a lot of weight. My feet aren't too big. I wear a size 7 wide, but I have bunions that make my feet wider. I never get to wear the really cute heels LOL
  4. I went to Dr. Garcia in Mexico. I spent $5000 through Successfully Slimmer. My airfare was not included so I paid $350 for my ticket. I had a great experience!! If you decide on Mexico, do a lot of research and be comfortable with who you choose. A cheaper price isn't always the better choice. Good luck!
  5. To be honest, you have no idea what size you will be in one or two months. I am two months post-op and I thought for sure I would lose my breasts before anything else, but I am still the same cup size, just a smaller band size. If you can hold off on buying a bra then you should. Bras are so expensive, especially for us big breasted gals. I'd hate for you to buy a smaller size only to find it never really fits right. Good luck!
  6. I read somewhere that a bariatric patient used a blender to puree McDonald's and other fast foods. No weight loss after a year.
  7. I do my clothes shopping at Goodwill. Saves money
  8. I have decided to stop worrying about the numbets on my scale. I love my scale when the numbers go down, but hate it when the numbers do not move or go up. We all know what this is like. However, I am super excited because I am losing inches!! The jeans I bought 3 weeks ago are getting baggy! I wish I was under 200(207.4 currently), but I'll take inches lost over a number on the scale any day! Take it from me folks, those scale numbers do not mean a whole lot.
  9. omg! take care and get well soon! congrats on the weight loss!
  10. I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia on April 20th. I had no complications. I spent $5000 on surgery and $350 on airfare. I was very satisfied with everything. I couldn't afford the extra 7 grand or so for self-pay in the US and I also felt that Dr. Garcia was more experienced than any surgeons in my area. I was comfortable with my decision and very happy with my results so far. Good luck everyone!
  11. i was sleeved april 20th and have lost 34lbs. i haven't lost that many inches though. going from a 20-22 to a 14 is amazing! congrats!!
  12. i agree with Lissa. i had the infamous 3 weeks stall, too. i tend to lose great for 2 weeks then stall for a week. our bodies have to adjust and it takes time. you've had great weight loss so far! hang in there and stay strong!
  13. don't get so discouraged and don't eat the brownies! your body is adjusting to its new anatomy. stay strong and keep in mind that it hasn't even been six weeks since surgery. your body is still healing. everyone loses differently. i've had small gains as well, but i keep at it and the weight does come off. you can do this!!
  14. no prob good luck!
  15. j don't know what could be wrong, but you definitely need to call your doc. hope u feel better soon
  16. do reverse crunches. you raise your legs and pull them to your chest instead of lifting your upper body.
  17. we should always be careful and not eat too much. we have this surgery to prevent us from over eating. hopefully, none of us will ever do something as damaging as that woman did. such a horrible tragedy.
  18. cat, wear those pants one last time then kiss em goodbye! i'm still new to the losing game but i have lost a pants size. i bought pants from goodwill that actually fit instead of needing suspenders LOL it felt awesome! i never wanna go back!! also, i love reading your posts
  19. if u know u r eating poorly then stop lol. the weight gain could be perfectly normal. about 3 weeks out i gained 2 lbs and hit a stall. i just kept following the plan and after 2 weeks the scale went down again. remember, protein first! at 2 weeks u shouldn't be past mushies so be careful. even if u feel ok u can still damage ur sleeve.
  20. i still have some food restrictions. i eat cheese and lunchmeat, regular oatmeal, baked beans, peas. pretty much anything soft. i like variety so i don't have a strict food routine. i am not exercising yet, however, my job keeps me pretty active throughout the day. i plan on starting a walking routine soon. i've been sick so i've been set back a little.
  21. Fluids are very important! You need a minimum of 48oz. I know it's hard because I've been there. I had to go to e.r. and get i.v. fluids because I didn't force the fluids like I should have. I would not add boiled eggs yet. They are too solid for you at this time. Stick with what you've been eating. Cream of Wheat and Campbell's sippable soups are good, too. Taking it slow is hard, but we have to do it to avoid complications. Good luck!
  22. yes i felt that way! lol i also tried the insurance route about 4 years ago. i was thinking lapband at the time but insurance would only cover the first $10,000. things won't seem "real" until sometime after surgery. the weight will come off and you'll realize the sleeve was the best choice you could have made! good luck!
