  1. Don't worry, the pain won't be bad at all. Ask for more pain meds if you need them Pretty soon this will just be a distant memory!
  2. Yes spinach is on the menu for tonight lol. I've been making themed salads - Southwest Steak Salad, Chicken Caesar Salad, Taco Salad and tonight is Spanish Salad (spinach, strawberries, chicken, sunflower seeds, feta cheese & raspberry vinaigrette). trying to keep it interesting
  3. Nope, my surgery isn't until May 15th! My pre-op diet is going just fine now. I'm still fairly fatigued, but I'm dealing with it okay. I'm not especially hungry although I am getting pretty tired of lettuce and I'm not finishing my salad in the evening. I've lost 4.5 pounds as of this morning, so it's going well.
  4. Be seen some people posting, talking about a goal weight. Im wondering how you come up with that weight? I've looked up my ideal weight by BMI, but it ranges from about 120-160 or so. Quite a span. I'm 31, 5' 7" so what should be my actual ideal weight be? What should my goal be? How low can I expect to go? I think I am small boned lol. I'm currently at 218, 5 days into the pre-op diet. I think I'll be a slow loser. I have PCOS bad (no periods) & I've had type 2 diabetes for 19 years. I've always felt like such a fat lump, even when I was 40-50 pounds lighter. Maybe because I have a disease associated with obesity? I don't know.... Just want to get healthy!
  5. No, no Vitamin yet. I bought some Centrum chewables though for post-op, so I'll try that. Thanks! On the plus side, no headache or hunger really I just feel like crashing somewhere for a few hours lol.
  6. Oh yeah, and constipated
  7. I started my pre-op diet of 2 slim fast shakes and a salad with Protein a day on Tuesday, 3 full days ago. I have lost 2 pounds in those 3 days. I'm not having a huge hunger problem (yes I'm hungry some, but it's not a big overwhelming thing). However, I'm sooo tired. And my brain seems just slightly foggy (I tend toward a foggy brain anyway lol!). Will this fatigue go away, or is it just going to get worse? Here are my approximate counts: Day 1: ~1,200 calories, 65 grams of carb, 70 grams of protein Day 2: ~1,200 calories, 40 grams of carb, 55 grams of protein (exercised, 30 min) Day 3: ~1,200 calories, 45 grams of carb, 75 grams of protein (exercised, 20 min) So my calories are low, my carbs are low and my protein is pretty much high enough (for my ideal body weight, I should need about 60 grams). And I have been somewhat active. It's only been 3 days! How bad is it going to be later on? Or am I going to get used to this? I just want to go lay on the couch and take a nice long nap (but can't of course!).
  8. Did anybody get their haircut either before or after surgery? Don't know if I'll feel like it, but it needs cut and I thought it might be a good opportunity lol.
  9. A marathon is my dream as well!!! Can't wait!
  10. I'm having a blast. Almost no matter what size they have, i'm interested lol. I've got a nice little started stack so far
  11. Going garage saling today and i'm going to buy a bunch of clothes in smaller sizes. My surgery is in a week & a half (!) and i'm in an 18/20 right now. Going to buy sizes 8-16 today for pennies at garage sales so I don't have to spend a ton later on clothes I hopefully won't wear very long. We'll see what i end up at though, maybe I will need smaller lol. I can hope right?
  12. Hmm maybe that came off wrong. I just thought it was ironic when I read that your deductible was $5000 lol Was watching Two and a Half Men last night with hubby and his deductible was $500,000 lol.
  13. Lol i'm only paying $5,000 total for my surgery in Mexico
  14. Have you tried different brands or different favors?
  15. I was so excited to start my pre-op diet today. I'm required to do the 3 day diet, but I wanted to do the 2 week diet (starting with protein shakes & salad). Am I crazy?? Maybe lol. I've had a horrible day today, everything went wrong and even though I adjusted my insulin pump, I still was low half the day & extremely grumpy. It doesn't help that I have a bunch of finals to study for. Stress city!!!
  16. I don't mean any offense, but most people are "good to go" except for the money. Money is why I didnt do this 10 years sooner! Is there any way you can take out a home equity loan? With a low credit score, unless you're friendly with a banker lol, then you're probably out of luck for now. Have you looked into prosper.com? Do you own a car outright? Have anything you can put up for collateral or anything you can sell? If you have exhausted all your other avenues, I guess you'd just have to work on improving your credit score over the next year or two then try again.
  17. My mom and I are both just taking one carry on a piece - I'm going to take a light backpack and I'm finding that I really don't need much at all. I wish I could take my body pillow, but it's a little too big for my backpack I'll be really missing it after surgery!
  18. I already have a few things packed and my surgery is 2 weeks from today. I thought it was just me lol!
  19. Me too! I'm starting the diet on Tuesday and I might be a little crazy, but i'm looking forward to it My husband says that I will change my mind after a day, but we'll see lol.
  20. I bought a sample pack too, thanks!
  21. Is anyone worried about dying? I know the chances are really slim, but I can't help but keep thinking about it. I'm also going to write letters to my husband & sons for them to read in case I die. I just feel like I need to be prepared. But i'm also the type that I've already made a spreadsheet of what to do with I insurance money in case my husband and I both happened to die at once. I just feel its important to be prepared
  22. I was just looking for a pair of big, comfy yoga pants to wear home from the hospital lol. My surgery isn't until May 15th (just over 2 weeks!), but I like to plan ahead And as I was going through all these clothes, I start tossing a bunch into a garage sale pile. If it's too big right now, it will definitely be too big after my 2 week Pre-op diet, then surgery. How liberating to think that I will never wear those sizes again. I have a brand new pair of shorts from Walmart with the tags still on it (clearance for $1!) in the next size up. Just waiting for when I will fit into it some day. How depressing that thought was. I also found a big pile of running skorts, racer tops & other exercise clothes from when I did Couch 2 5K a few years ago. I stopped running due to calf pain which I haven't been diagnosed, but I believe I have peripheral artery disease. I sincerely hope it goes away because I like running and want it to be a goal to run a marathon some day (if it goes away). One of my heroes is Dean Karnazes - I recently met him at a 5K in Kansas City. Anyway, it was exciting to get rid of all those clothes & I just had to share. Half my closet is gone now though!!! Looking forward to new, smaller clothes soon
  23. I am too!! Surgery May 15, right after finals I just have to pass Micro this summer & I start the rest of the nursing program in the fall.
  24. My coordinator is Christi & i'm in communication with her. I already tried to change flights but i'm out of the window to make changes Oh well it will work out i'm sure, I just get to stress out about it for awhile first!
  25. And I just checked again and the ticket prices r back up to $350-$400 each. Looks like I did okay, even if I have to pay for a night in a hotel.
