  1. I can't do lactose now, well most foods that contain milk but not all. I get very ill with youget/cottage cheese/orange cheeses. Once my intolarace showed up I changed my eating habits. I have been taking a low carb approach and have been eating more meats and a few low carb veggies. I guess, if I wanted to get my calories lower I could eat lower calorie meat/fish options. It is great to see what everyone else is doing!
  2. Good luck with the shakes! Drinking the protein shakes is an easy way to get at least 60+ in per day. I have been using the my fitness pal app on my phone. It is a fantastic way to keep track of calories and protein.
  3. So I am getting between 600 and 750 calories a day ...320 is protine shakes. Are you guys not doing shakes to get such low calories? If not, how are you getting 60+ of prot.?
  4. Google the PB2 website... They list the stores that sell it near your zip code. For me hyvee and price chopper. It is only $5 or $6 buck. Totaly worth a try!
  5. 3 day clear liquid/week full liquids/week mushy/real food!
  6. So maybe this was a bit lofty... but for the last couple of days I was trying to get my protine in the old fashoned way--eating. I see that at about a month out that is an imbossible task. I do have unflavored protine that I have been using in my crystal light but wondered if anyone had any suggestions on a good tasting lactose free RTD shakes. I am a kinda rare becuse I do not mind premier, adtkins, or any of the mixes that I bought from gnc. As a matter of fact, I kinda even enjoyed the protine shakes. I could still tolorate my gnc powder with lactaid milk until a few days ago. I do prefer RTD shaks, tho.
  7. Oh Yuck!! They had cantalope and watermelon when I was there..
  8. So I have never in 33 years had a problem with lactose.... Until day 4 post op and then it decided to kick me in the ass! ^_~ I had no idea how many foods lactose is in until I developed this intolerance. I have switched to lactaid milk for my shakes, purchased lactaid pills, and I avoid foods with lactose. I have found the pills help but I still feel a little sick with them. Any other advice? So..in a glass full way of thinking.... If I ever feel constipated all I have to do is drink a very small glass of milk. Things could be a lot worse but I hope this goes away sooner rather then later.
  9. Thanks for all the replies! This kind of info really helps.
  10. I had no probs or complications after surgery. I flew home from Mexico 4 days after surgery and felt great.
  11. I had my surgery on Mexico ... So I do not have a NUT or doctor to follow up with. Do you have a max number or carbs? I really do appreciate your advice.
  12. Do you have a set number of carbs you try not to exceed? Pre surgery my carbs typically were salad and salad dressing. Where do your come from? Thanks for the info!
  13. I'm still on mushy diet but can go to regular food next week. I am not worried about my carbs at this point because there aren't many low carb soups.. beans..etc that I can eat at this stage. When I go to regular food I am kind of torn about doing low carb vs "regular" food. Before surgery I have been an off and on low carber for years (20 or so carbs a day). I did not always stick to it or I would not have needed the surgery. Assuming I get my protein in ... Should I still be doing low carb? 0r just eat small amounts of healthy foods including starchy stuff? I have about 100 lbs to lose and would like some opinions.
  14. So I see many post that they can only eat a bite or two and the are full... That is not me. I just ate a scrambled egg and I swear I am still hungry! I only had surg 2 weeks ago so I am just now going to soft foods. I really hope that I start to feel full now that I am off liquids.
  15. I'm right there with ya, sister! I can't wait to look back on this (100 lbs lighter) and realize how silly I was.
  16. Isn't it funny that we seem to lucky and are able to drink.... And we are questioning our good fortune. I think there are a lot of people who would love to able to drink like us! =). Once we get to have "real" food I think we will have the restricted feeling everyone else is talking about.
  17. A few days ago I posted my experience with Garcia in Mexico. I was just sleeved on 4/21. It is in the Mexico (self pay) section of this site. Let me know if you want any more info! Best of luck to you!!
  18. Im sorry but I do not have any info or feedback about the lenexa center. I went to Mexico. I am shocked at how many kc locals are on the forum. I'm in overland park!
  19. Nope. They have you pee right before the wheel you to the or.
  20. Oh no!!.... So mash po's are on my doctors ok list...and I'm just a few more days out then you. Your not missing anything. I took a bite of them tonight and decided against having any more. They are blah! If I can only eat a small amount of food... I think it should be really good! I know this doesn't help if you are having a craving! If it makes you feel better... I could almost kill for some plain tuna and normally tuna is not something I would want!
  21. Thanks so much for the advice! I really appreciate all the help I can get.
  22. So had surgery in Mexico 4/20. The price was great but I am quickly finding out that some people seem so much more educated about what to eat and when. Some have a nut to talk to and even had classes to attend pre op. I recieved a hand out in Mexico and the rest of the info I get from here. Not that I am complaining because I am glad there was an affordable option for me. I am on full luquids. I drink 2 premier (30 grams of prot) twice a day. I eat about 1/4 or a little more soup for lunch. Dinner is about 1/4 of soup with unflavored protein (21 grams) mixed in. I drink constantly so I get in at min. 64 - 70 oz of liquid (including shakes) a day. Is this what I am supposed to be doing? Any suggestions? Next week I move to mushy and then on to "real" food. Should I be relying less on the shakes and eat more food? After water and shakes I don't have much room.
  23. No one on here ever really posted about the same week I was going to Garcia either. No worries! You will meet other people at the hotel. Just look for people in the hotel wearing strechy pants and eating popsicles! The hospital is really small.... Maybe 8 or so rooms so you really do get to meet and talk to everyone!
  24. There were two hospital beds in the room. They really wern't that uncomfortable so hopefully it will work with her back!
