  1. I have a bridge on the top front 4 teeth and have been through surgery twice (Lapband in Aug 10 and then revision May 29th) and each time I told the anesthesiologist about it and nothing happened to them during surgery.
  2. I know that my metabolism is not slow- my nutritionist testing it before surgery and she said its actually high. Im losing about 1 lbs a week too at this point and GRRRRRR.
  3. So I was told by my doctor and the bariatric coordinator that in their experience people who had the band and are revised to the sleeve tend to lose weight slower than "virgin" sleevers. Im 6 weeks out and have lost 24 lbs (but that was all weight that I gained after the Fluid was taken out of my band because it slipped) and the scale is just moving so slow and its frustrating. There ARE other signs that Im losing weight- clothes are fitting better and Im having to get new clothes. But I want the scale to reflect the same. For those who are farther out than me, PLEASE tell me that it will come off. Im just a little frustrated at this point and needing some encouragement. Thanks!
  4. Thats awesome! Congrats!
  5. well poo. Was hoping not to go through it since I already did one round. But if thats what its going to take for me to get skinny then I will deal with it.
  6. I was just wondering if I will go through a 2nd round of hair loss with the revision surgery? I had some hair loss after the band- it wasnt that bad actually. It was like post-partum hair loss for me. But was just curious if revision-ers have to go through a 2nd round of hair loss?
  7. Connie- I gained 24 lbs from the time my fluid was taken out of my band and when I started my pre-op diet. It was about 3 months but holy crap how did that happen? Oh yeah...but have been the hamburgers, pizza, ICE CREAM that I hate. It sure was good but I regret it now. I have about 3 more pounds to lose before Im officially back to where I was before the slip.
  8. My doctor did tell me that there is of course an increased risk of leak due to scar tissue. WE discussed VSG vs. RNY and ultimately I decided VSG was right for me because long term is safer than RNY. I didn't want to deal with malabsorbption or dumping syndrome. I had my band removed and revised to the sleeve in one procedure on May 29th. It took 2 hours longer than normal because of scar tissue but surgery went well and Im not having any problems.
  9. Love this post. Im 3.5 weeks post revision surgery and there are people who had the same surgery date as me and have lost more weight. I have lost 21 lbs since surgery which is awesome but Im also in a stall and start to wonder if Im doing something wrong. Im still on a pureed diet so im hoping once Im able to get more calories in then the weight will start coming off. I too was warned about slower weight loss than virgin sleevers so I just hope that i dont get too impatient.
  10. OMG- I HATED my drain. Such a pain in the ass. I was told that if there was mucousy stuff coming out at the site that it was normal. I got mine out 9 days post op and I was so glad to have it out. I did still have pain for a few days afterwards at the drain site but it got better.
  11. So im 7 days post op and starting to slowly feel better. I still have my drain in and cant wait to get that removed on Friday. Im not having too much pain anymore- mostly at night when its harder for me to get comfortable. One thing Im surprised about is that Im TRULY not hungry. I remember after lapband surgery I was so freakin hungry like 4 days post op. I am getting tired of the clear liquid diet but i can manage another week. Im ready to move on to my regular Protein shakes that I can make with milk and looking forward to some sf pudding too! Oh and Im down 11 lbs since surgery! YAY!
  12. This is one case where having the band will help me out when Im able to move on to regular foods. I got used to eating small bites and taking food home. And I dont ever really remember being mad that I couldnt eat a whole lot- I mean, thats the point to having WLS is to reduce portion sizes to help us lose weight.
  13. Have you tried gas-x strips? And getting up and walking often? I know it probably hurts to get up and walk but trust me it will help with the gas pains tremendously! I have had 2 c-sections, lapband surgery, and then this past tuesday my band was removed and revised to the sleeve. I did have a few periods of really bad gas pains in my chest and shoulder but the simethecone (Gas-x), pain meds, and walking helped so much. Now im not really having any gas pains- its more pain from the incision sites.
  14. oh this God awful drain. I HATE IT. I wont get mine out until next Friday and that day cannot come fast enough.
  15. I sent you a FR and would love to join the May sleeve FB group!
  16. I was de-banded and sleeved this past Tuesday. Surgery was more extensive than he thought because of all of the scar tissue and he kept me 1 extra day. I came home late last night and man it felt good to sleep in my own bed with my 8 week old kitty curled up next to me. One thing I was surprised about is being able to sleep on my right side. I wasnt able to do that when my band was placed- I felt this horrible tugging when I tried to lay on my side. But I normally sleep on my right side so I know that helped with being comfortable. Can't sleep on my left side since I still have the drain in (ICK). I'm down 5 lbs since surgery but Im retaining a huge amout of water too so I cant wait for the swelling to go down!
  17. YAY! Im finally home! Doctor came by with discharge instructions around 8:15 pm and it took until 9:30 to get everything situated. But Im home and can sleep in my own bed without people constantly interrupting me. Hopefully my kitty will so the same.
  18. I was sleeved on may 29th too! Im feeling ok- just really tired, weak and sore. I was kept for 2 nights as well because my surgery was more extensive because of scar tissue from my band. I also have to deal with a stupid drain for the next week too. Anyways, as far as coughing- get a small pillow or fold a set of sheets up into a squre and put it in your tummy when you have to cough. Learned that one from my 2 c-sections that I had.
  19. Hey ladies- I'm bandless and sleeved! Everything went well with surgery but it took him 5 hrs instead of 3 because of all of the scar tissue. He did have to put in a drain which I want to have taken out so badly. The doc kept me one night longer because it was a longer surgery than anticipated. I'm hoping to go home tonight! Hunger hasn't been an issue. Just thirsty all the time. Anyways that's all for now
  20. Im super excited but nervous at the same time. I have a husband and 2 kids and I worry about not making it through the surgery. But Im looking forward to getting back to my weight loss. I've gained 20 lbs since my slip was diagnosed and my band was unfilled. I feel gross and disgusting right now. Anyways, wish me luck!
  21. I dont have any experience with the DS but I got my band nearly 2 years ago and I wish that I had done the sleeve and not even messed with the band.
  22. My surgeons office told me about Celebrate single serve packets that have protein plus multivitamins and calcium in one packet. Looks like the flavors they have are chocolate milk. vanilla cake batter, and strawberry. Im going to call them to get some free samples before I order. Im also going to get the Isopure protein drinks from GNC. I remember after my lapband surgery I was NOT getting in enough protein and I felt horrible and so weak. I want to avoid that this time.
  23. Im very jealous of all of you who are about to have surgery this week. My surgery is not until May 29th. I HATE waiting. But I've been through this before since I currently have the band and Im very lucky that the process to get the approval for my band removal (due to a slip) and revision to the sleeve was done so quickly. But my band is unfilled right now and I have no restriction and I've already gained 7 lbs back. I've been stuck for the past 6-8 months not losing any weight and Im ready to get back to shedding those pounds!
  24. I have a slipped band and my new doctor didn't seem to think there would be a problem with removing the band and revising to a sleeve.
