  8. I had surgery on 4/11/12. Today was my 1 month post op visit. I am down 14# since DOS and 30# total since pre-op diet. Dr. says I am right on track and should expect to lose about 1 to 2 # per week from this point on. NUT said 600 cal a day is about what I should be averaging and by 3months out probably close to 800 cal a day. I am one happy girl
  9. Great job!! Keep on keepin on
  10. I was sleeved on 4/11/12 so I am 19 days post op. i was released from the hospital with no restrictions. Before surgery I was working out in the gym 5 nights a week with 2 of those nights taking an hour & 15 min. bosu/cross train class. Very intense similar to boot camp. I was back in the gym on Sat after surgery on Wed. & was back at bosu class this past Thursday. Ready for both classes this week. Not sore at all. Was a little more tired than normal. I think you will be fine. Follow your drs orders. Walk, walk walk & sip, sip, sip!!
  11. Yes just a little over 2 weeks ago. No not a revision.
  12. I was 176 on my surgery day of Apri 11. I started at 227 in Sept 2011.
  13. Kate-- my insurance went by my weight and BMI at my initial doctor's appointment. They highly encouraged weight loss. Gene---Good morning!!
  14. Imran21in--- I had no complications at all. I did have a couple of bouts with nausea and vomiting in the hospital but it wasn't anything that medicine didn't control. My experience was virtually pain free. I was able to make it without any pain medicine at all but I do have a high tolerance. I am post op 2 weeks as of yesterday and I feel great!! I had my surgery on Wed and I was back at work full time the following Tuesday. I never was tense but I was a little anxious before my surgery. My only regret is that I didn't do this years ago. My advice is to follow your doctor's instructions completely and you will be fine.
  15. imran21in--- sure!! What would you like to know?
  16. I'm not from Colorado Springs but I got married there in 2010
  17. Hi Kate!! Welcome to this amazing journey. I had to do a 6 month supervised diet for insurance requirements. It really went by fast.i lost 50 #.
  18. Woohoo baydawg!! That is awesome!!
  19. Gene- I committed to this new lifestyle last Sept. I gave up soda, sugar & caffeine at that time. I came to realize that I had been very fortunate that I had eaten anything & everything I wanted for 53 years so surely I could eat & drink healthy for however many years I had left. It is a mindset. Once you decide to do this you just do it! Nothing tastes as good as this feels. I promise
  20. Hi Gene!! Welcome I am from Jefferson City and I was sleeved on 4/11. I had a wonderful experience and I am doing great. Feel free to ask any questions. I will help if I can. Kathy
  21. Thanks everyone!! I am proud of me!!
  22. I was sleeved on 4/11 so I am 2 weeks post op today! I had a very easy recovery almost no pain. I didn't even take any pain meds in hospital or when I came home. I do have a very high pain tolerance though. I did get nauseated and I vomited twice the night of my surgery. The first time I vomited it was a dark brown /green liquid ( I'm sure it was residual blood and Fluid from surgery) and the 2nd time it was Water that I had started sipping. The nurses were super in giving me nausea meds to stay on top of it. I was discharged with a prescription of nausea medication and only had to take 1 after I got home. I was on a 3 week clear liquid diet and had to stay on clears for 2 weeks after surgery. The first few days were the hardest. I totally lost interest in food and wasn't even hungry until a couple of days ago. On the good side --- I am down 21 lbs since I started the Clear liquids (12 of that since surgery). I have been struggling with getting my Protein in but not my fluids. I average around 40 gms of protein a day but keep trying to increase it. Vitamins don't sit well with me at all. I have been taking Celebrate Multi with Iron and per my NUT's advice I ordered ProCareNow with Iron. Waiting on those to be delivered. I did have very little engery but kept going. Yesterday for some reason I just started feeling "good" again and today I feel even better than I did yesterday. I am ME again!! I did eat 3T of no fat cottage cheese last night and man oh man did it ever taste good!! It sat very well in my tiny lil pouch and I say tiny because the 3 T filled me up!! I had 4 oz of greek yogurt with added powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored protein for Breakfast and so far so good. I just finished a low carb slim fast (20 gm of protein) so I can tell that I will be able to meet my protein requirements now that I can eat mushies. No doubt that will only increase my energy levels. This surgery is the BEST thing I have ever done for myself and I only regret that I didn't do it 20 years ago!!!! I was wearing 16/18 pants and 22-24 tops ( I am 5" tall). I weighed 227 at the beginning of my journey in Sept 2011. I am wearing size 10 pants and an XL shirt. My weight this morning was 160. My goal is 120ish. Kathy
  23. Lisa . You will so glad you did this!! I know I am.
