IowaAndy got a reaction from rahnava in Dr. Garcia And Team Are Awesome!
I agree with you 100 percent. The entire staff of Dr Garcia was great and very professional. I also thought that the internist was fantastic. I had a question after I was released to the hotel and she called me right back and gave me a new medication. It was after dark and since I had no idea where to go the hotel staff went to the pharmacy for me and brought the meds to my room. I would go back for surgery there again in a heart beat. Oh and if anyone is planning on going to Dr Garcia and staying at Hotel Pueblo Amigo I have posted pictures of my room and the hotel on my pics.
Glad you had a great experience also and wish you all the best in your journey.

Each BCBS plan has different exclusion in their policies. You would have to dig deeper into what you plan will cover and what it will not. My BCBS in Iowa would not cover the sleeve so it made no sense to appeal their decision. They would pay for the band and a bypass but no sleeve.

If it is a pill that can not be cut or a capsule that must remain intact I would take it with a spoon full of Jello. This helps to open your stomach a little so that the pill can enter easier. You could always ask the doctor for a smaller dose pill and take more than one for the time being also. If they are time release you could try one that is not so that it can be cut into smaller pieces. Check with your doctor or pharmacist on each specific medication as they are all different.

So sorry to hear that you had so many problems but I am glad that you were at a hospital that had an ICU and emergency care and that they could wheel you back into surgery to find out where you were bleeding from. I know that your throat is probably sore from being intubated twice as you had to have 2 surgeries. I know that you will make it through this and this experience will make you stronger. Now you know that there is someone watching over you and has your best interest in his hands. God bless and I hope that you make a speedy recovery and that in a few months this will be a bad memory.

When I get down and think that I should be losing weight faster I just think to myself.......how many years did it take me to gain all of this weight??????? A long time. So do not expect to lose all of the weight that you want in just a short 6 months. Give you body time and it will do what it needs to do. You will lose the weight and feel much better for it. Keep the faith.

IowaAndy got a reaction from Finding MeMe in When Can I Start Exercising?
It depends on what you mean by exercising. By week 2 I was going to the gym and walking on the treadmill an hour a day. Granted everyone is going to be different. As for running or lifting weights I think that would be a good questions for your doctor. I know that I was not feeling like running or lifting anything heavy until I hit about 8 weeks. I did lift a few light hand weights but was not lifting anything that would put my staples in jeopardy. I know that everyone on here is going to have a different opinion but I would say that some of it is up to you and how you are feeling and how much energy you have to work out for even 30 minutes. I would start slow and gradually increase time and intensity.

Sorry you have to suffer at the hands of an insensitive so called medical professional. A doctor can tell you what they think you should do for better health but they have no place lecturing and lecturing you over and over again. Obviously if this is your primary care doctor it is not new news to her that you have a weight problem. She should be aware that you are trying your best and are not planning on have VSG. If you are not happy with your doctor and you are unable or unwilling to stand up to the doctor then I would be looking for a new doctor. I am sure that ones of your friends of coworkers know of a good doctor that you could see as a primary care physician. I work in the healthcare field and if I talked to and treated patients that way I would no longer have a job. Just because this person has been to medical school does not make them a good doctor......it also take compassion and listening and not always lecturing.
If you are unable or unwilling to speak to the doctor about the way you feel then I suggest it is time for a new primary care........their oath does say "DO NOT HARM"

Do not worry about the scale as a stall is not uncommon. I had a stall about the same time as you and it lasted between 2-3 weeks but I am again on the losing side of the scale. Just keep doing what you are supposed to.....get all of your Protein and Water and any exercise that you can and believe me that scale will start to move again.

Well he is a man......I would talk with him and tell him that it would be nice if you could go and eat somewhere that you could also enjoy something to eat. You mother will always be your mother but boyfriends come and go. If this is the way he is going to treat you then I think you have a lot to think about. Was he treating you this way before the surgery. Maybe he is afraid that you will lose a lot of weight and leave him for someone else. Think that it is a time for a talk.......

WOW....truly amazing photos. You look so healthy and I am sure that you are feeling a lot better. I am sure that by now people have begun to treat you differently also. That is the most amazing part to me as I have not changed as a person inside but the exterior dictates how so many people treat you.....expecially when you are overweight and not considered the norm. Thanks for sharing.

Connie.....please do not get disappointed. I was only 8 weeks out and I stalled for 2 weeks and thought....oh my God I spent all this money to lose a small amount of weight. Well the scale has started to move again and I will take is nice and slow. I did go back on liquids for a week again just to give my body a rest and then started back on my regulars diet. Please do not give up. If you are feeling stressed maybe you need to see a therpist of possibly start on some medication until you start losing again and feel more like yourself.

Also I think that it will depend on your age. As we age we get shorter in general as our spinal column compresses thus making us shorter. I assume that the more you weight the more your spine compresses. My guess would be that you are looking taller as your posture is better and your stomach is not making you bend over or arch your back which has probably been the cause of back pain. Hopefully whti the weight loss your back pain with decrease and your posture will get back to a more normal state.

I had my surgery on Dec 11 and I had a 2 week stall also. I increased my Protein and Water and also I went back on the liquid Protein shakes for a week. Well today I got on the scale and I have lost another 5 pounds. I was so happy and elated. I think that the stall is common for a lot of people and each of us is different and loses at a different rate. Like was said in one of the other post......slow and steady wins the prize.
I also like the losing a little slower as I do not want a lot of flab just hanging when I reach my goal. Think that you skin has a better time adjusting when losing slowly. Hang in there and we will all make it.

Congratulations.......So glad that you choose Dr Garcia. I can not say enough good things about him and his surgical staff. Also the staff at Hospital MI was excellent and I have to agree with you that it is small but they had everything that I needed in a hospital. I also agree with your comment on the clean, clean, clean. I have worked at several hospitals in my career in the medical field and this beat any of the hospitals that I worked at in the US.
I am glad that you are feeling better and agree that the liquid was bad. Especially that last blue stuff that I had to drink.
I stayed at Hotel Pueblo Amigo and was also very satisfied. Also the driver to and from the airport was excellent.
I look forward to hearing about your progress......best to you.

You story is amazing. I am so glad that you recovered enough from being dehydrated to be able to procede with your surgery. Mag citrate is some nasty stuff and I am amazed that they did not have you do liquids for at least a couple of days. I know that every surgeon is different and I was on the liquids for 2 weeks like many on the forums. I certainly hope that things start to improve for you and that soon all that happened will be a bad memory that fades fast.
Best wishes on your success and new life.

If you like most people who support the Girl Scouts you could always buy the Cookies from friends or family and then take them to your local food pantry and donate them. That way you are helping the Girl Scouts, those less fortunate and yourself as they will not be sitting in your kitchen calling our your name in the evenings.
