Though I have not expeienced the cancer deal...my doctors have told me for years to lose weight lose weight....well hello if I could lose weight don't ya think I would have done it without them telling me?
The whole child bearing thing would be yikeola because if you already had children wg deal to get historectomy....but the child thin is clearly a challenge. I would lovensided removed so no more Aunt Flo visits, but I have 5 children and 4 grands....harsh choice. I will keep you in my prayers to help you make the right decisions....
The surgery is an amazing tool, that will forever change your life and your way of thinking. I think I would have optted to endure a pregnancy first prior to surgery but all is good. I will keep ms. Robin in my daily prayers to make you successfull in all of your choices and surgeries and being blessed with a new little life when the time is right for you....

Best thing I ever did getting "sleeved". I am no longer a prisoner to food because I am in complete control. Also, I eat pretty much what I want, just way less than before and work hard on getting in Protein. I do stay away from bread, but I am just a month out. So, I am on soft cooked veggies, chicken, eggs, cheese, Greek yogurt, etc. I have lost 30 pounds in a month and for the life of me do not know what took me so long to get sleeved! Surgery was easy, very little pain and nausea. My recovery was about two weeks. Anybody thinking about doing this, it will be one of the best things you ever did for yourself. The cravings for junk food have vanished and on occasion I have a few little pieces of chocolate, but it is a few, not the whole bag!

I don't eat lean cuisine. Ugh. I keep bagged frozen chicken, chicken wings, prepared fajita meat, tuna kits, etc in my house, along with mini babybel cheeses. I eat fish, chicken, beef, pork, whatever meat I want, and I make sure my veggies are steamed or frozen because raw veggies aren't high on my feel good list for my sleeve. I go out to eat with friends and have no problems.
I still live my normal life, but I eat less than I did before. I've added in exercise and I've become a gym rat. I would have NEVER predicted ME becoming a gym rat before surgery.
I had a list of co-morbidities as long as yours and a death sentence hanging over my head when I had my sleeve. I'm happy to say that death sentence has been commuted.
If you're scared, just think how much more pain and suffering you'll endure as an obese woman. I have an aunt who has had 20+ surgeries to try to save her sight, her arm, her leg, and her life because of complications of diabetes and obesity. I chose to have ONE surgery to hopefully avoid all of those other surgeries. It was an easy choice for me. Yeah, I was scared going into the OR, but now my future is so bright I have to wear shades!
Good luck with your decision and your journey.

My BMI was 51 when I started (310, 5ft 5.5") and I'm now 37.2 halfway through 19 weeks later. I feel so much better and with a tummy so little many times it honestly feels like a Thanksgiving dinner after a 3 oz pc of chicken and a couple bites of veggies. I'm happy about where I'm headed and my self esteem is a million times better than 4 months ago. I have a 10 and 12 year old myself and for the first time in a long time soon I'll be able to go to the theme parks with them and actually ride the rides with them. I know there can be weight gain but when you can only eat 4oz at a time and you stick to eating mostly healthy Protein foods for 3-4 times a day I don't see any big gains happening. Most of my family is obese and 3 of 4 grandparents had/have cancer so I know the dread feeling of what if. When is your surgery?

I think the myfitnesspal readings are over optimistic too... I used to use the Alan borushek food & exercise journal, it always seemed to provide reasonable estimates... I think I heard once wiggling your fingers and toes burns 100 calories an hour... I still do it when watching tv... OCD much?! Lol

Ummm, stretching your sleeve really is not a concern, in fact it's nearly impossible. But here is a video that illustrates why we don't drink while eating or soon after.

Big No NO! Adding liquids "drinking" while eating is the easiest way to stretch your pouch or sleeve! No liquids 30 mins before meal or 30 mins after !

First real "encounter" since the surgery (lots of fooling around, but yesterday was... the full meal deal). And... guys... wow. GET THIS SURGERY.
Before the surgery, I was a real "one minute wonder" (if I could even get lucky; at 338, it doesn't happen much). I would be panting and wheezing and see spots, and I was lucky to even be able to finish. I was used to the woman not... finishing, either.
    Yesterday.
    SEVEN. HOURS.
She had more... moments of joy than I could count (maybe 12? 15? 20?), and I had... THREE.
THREE. In one night! Guys, I'm 42. That just doesn't HAPPEN to guys my age.
And it certainly never happened before the sleeve.
Good god, men, if you have ANY problems in that area at all and are pre-sleeve, RUN, don't walk, and get the surgery.
UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE. I thought that stuff only happened in porno movies...
Ok, I'll shut up now. But... wow.
    Sore... exhausted... and happy
Edit: uh, it wasn't seven hours continuously, I should mention... 8pm till 3am, but not all, uh, action. Even at my current fitness level, that WOULD kill me. Seven hours of go... rest, chat, laugh... go... rest, chat, laugh... repeat until too sore and exhausted to continue! And NOW I WILL shut up.

My fears were overwhelming before my surgery, But then I thought about the regret of staying at my current weight (or even worse, continually gaining). If you are anything like me, the weight issues were much more than just some extra baggage. It was also affecting my overall health.
Since my surgery, the weight loss has been a gift. It's only been 2 months and many of my medical issues are now reversing themselves (already). And it's only going to get better.
Everyone has a different story. Mine is that I had to choose between being physically unable to live a normal life and eventually be wheelchair bound, or get my life back in control and do something about it.
This was the best decision I could have made.
Keeping good thoughts for you... good luck.

I am 1 week out down 17 pounds since surgery. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Don't worry complications dont happen often put your faith in your doctor he knows what he is doing you have more of a chance dying from complications with your health and being heavy than with this surgery so the benifits outweigh the risks :-) you will do fine mama.

Wean yourself now, as caffine withdrawls are bad...and better healing with no caffine....also no soda unless it is flat and then "What's the point"? Also diet soda has so much bad in it even though it has 0 cals...enough sodium to smell a balloon...
Try vita waters, they even have then in ZERO if you cant afford the 50 cals., Decaf Iced Tea, I have even learned to drink it with no sugar or sweetner

I pretty much had given them up.
Weaned myself off of caffeine entirely over the last few weeks. However, the broths, etc. were not helping me feel full. I know the surgery will help for the 2nd half of liquids only but the soda helps for the before surgery.
Mainly i drink flavored Water but at dinner, when I'm hungry and have eaten my full of SF Jello, broth and Soup, the diet coke helps me get over the hump.
as long as the carbonation isn't going to hurt pre-op i'm ok with the final shutting of the door thursday night. My only concern is it not allowed pre-op for any reason?

I didn't have any incision pain after surgery but I did have a little gas pain in my left shoulder but after walking a couple of hours after surgery it went away by the next morning. I didn't have problems with pain when I came home either just a little tired for the 1st week. I went back to work though and managed ok =) The thing I wasn't prepared completely for was the complete no interest in food. Then you know you have to get Water and Protein in but can't, I mean literally can't! Couldn't get it all in until week 3, you have everyone tell you about that part but until you experience it, well, it just didn't register for me lol! Then around the 4th day of week 2 I wanted food, but couldn't have it =( Sooo I started freaking out about the restriction for the rest of my life like OMG! what have I done to myself! lol Anyway, you get the picture! I wasn't so much out of commission for my family but I did have some head games going on that were sometimes more of an issue than anything physical... I am now almost 4 weeks out and loving the sleeve, those weeks were totally worth the 34 weight loss =)

I just want to chime in here. Whoa. 22 years is a LONG time for his family not to accept you. Where are YOU going to be with this guy in another TWO years? By then you will have your own body, and he will have to respect that you have not only a new body, but a new life. How much he wants to join in that new life will be a negotiated reality between the two of you.
Whether you let him back into your heart is up to you. You may have him in your life, but in your heart? That is a whole different thing. Whatever you decide, remember there is a BIG difference between love and trust. You may love him and go on with your life with him with forgiveness, but he will have to EARN your trust.
For what it's worth, I don't believe that he FORGOT. That sounds like the very FIRST topic I'd bring up with the marriage counselor.
As far as the mess with his family goes, remember that old adage: living well is the best revenge. Use them for motivation to rock that sleeve!!! Pulling for you.....

JLewis.... I have lived and loved this man for 20+ years and I truely wish for another 20 yrs...He is the father of my children and the grandfather of my grandbabies...He is an awesome father and grandfather.... with those few exceptions along lifes way that we all have....But you all are so right he has disrespected me for the last time....I have distanced myself from the meanness and he will have to EAT HIS WORDS when I weigh in 5 lbs under him....He always says you can lose weight on your own you just have no will power...well after 4 kids and using a Norplant birthcontrol which made 100# gain overnight look easy...well...after 2 yrs and 200# I got the dam thing removed...He will see that he should have taken care of this wife in the fashion I want to be taken care of ....because though women as well as men NEED to be WANTED and NEED to be NEEDED....I have had several requests to be wanted and needed by others...so if he has come complacent and would prefer to live like room mates...well he can get a different room mate!

Another reason some people act that way is simple jealousy. Believe it or not, we all have "friends", family and co-workers who don't want to see us succeed. They either want to maintain the impression that they are better than we are, or better off than we are or have a better life than we do, etc and to see such a drastic improvement is a threat to their bubble of superiority.
We all know who they are and that's why, when you get to where you wanna be, those are the ones you're gonna feel most confident in front of!
