  1. Bumping so it will be easy for Jimmy to find this thread and update us. You're in my prayers.
  2. Best of luck to all of you have your surgery today!
  3. Partake and parade?
  4. Excited for you! Good luck tomorrow.
  5. Yeah, don't listen to anyone who's not supportive. I don't think anyone comes to this decision lightly. And maybe you'll replace eating with exercising, gardening or something else that's healthy. Yes, relationships will probabkly change. But hopefully for the better. Take care and good luck on Tuesday!
  6. Good luck to both of you! Hope to be joining you in two months.
  7. You can definitely substitute Splenda.
  8. So no flour at all? Interesting. I might try making these with PB2. That would drastically drop the calories and fat. Thanks!
  9. I'm sorry you're having a tough time of it. Have you contacted your surgeon's office to see if there is a support group in your area? If not, keep coming here. Everyone who's posting here seem very supportive. Good luck.
  10. They have those fajita strips at Walmart also. I freakin' love them!
  11. That kind of sucks. Something bad probably happens to the sauce when it's exposed to high temperatures so they don't ship it out during the summer months. I was wondering about the sauce myself.
  12. I'm in the same boat as you. My insurance doesn't stipulate if my BMI is based on my beginning weight or ending. If I lose another 15 pounds, I'll be below their 40 BMI level. If your surgeon's office has experience with your insurance company, ask the insurance coordinator. The one at my surgeon's office has been great. Otherwise, you may want to call your insurance company directly and get clarification. You're usually better off asking to speak to someone about bariatrics benefits as sometimes the general CSR's don't have a lot of knowledge. Good luck!
  13. I think it's good to know what to expect ahead of time. First, they start and IV and take your vitals. They'll roll you into a procedure room with your doctor, the anesthesiologist and a nurse or assistant. They had me turn on my left side but i was also having a colonoscopy at the same time so you may just be on your back. They should put an oxygen tube in your nose. The worst part for me (because I have a bit of claustrophobia) was when they put this bit thing in my mouth. You bite down on it and they strap it around your head. It's to prevent damage to your teeth and the camera. Then they turn on the happy juice and you're out like a light! You'll wake up in a recovery area and should be discharged in an hour or so. A couple of days after I started getting a sore throat. It felt like my glands were swollen. Found out the anesthesiologist had to perform something called a jaw thrust several times. Every time I was under enough to let them get the scope down I would stop breathing. So if you have trouble with sleep apnea, keep in mind that you may wind up with some soreness as well. Otherwise, you should feel fine a few hours after the procedure. You may be a bit sleepy from the anesthesia but you should feel 100% by the morning. Good luck with the procedure and your surgery!
  14. So you were really full of the spirit, huh? Thanks for the laugh.
  15. Well I guess your surgery is tomorrow so its a little late to encourage you on your preop diet lol. But good luck tomorrow and I hope everything goes well.
  16. Glad you found something you like. By the way, you can order directly from their website. Just google premier protein shakes. Good luck on your journey!
  17. Welcome to all of you. Sorry you didn't get responses on your first posts. There are so many forums and threads here that sometimes posts can get lost. Hope you find a lot of information here on your journey.
  18. Yay! Glad you're doing so well.
  19. Welcome! I'm currently doing the six month diet program as well. Time will fly! Make sure to browse the different forums here. They are packed with lots of good info.
  20. It might not be a bad idea. You probably won't be able to "go" for a couple days after surgery so it help avoid additional discomfort. Good luck on Monday!

I was considering getting an AFLAC policy in anticipation of my surgery. I know they have one for hospitalization and didn't know if anyone here had used them or if they covered the procedure. I'm also concerned in case I have complications that require an extended stay. Any info you can give me would be appreciated.
  22. You might want to look at PCIP. I was trying to find individual health insurance to cover removing my gallbladder and got denied by BCBS and United Healthcare simply because of my weight. PCIP is a government program for people with pre-existing health conditions. Texas is one of the states that's covered in this plan. The only hitch for you would be that you have to be without insurance for six months. But if you can stick that out, they have three different plans. The one I'm on has a 2k deductible and 4k OOP maximum. Because my gallbladder surgery covers that, I hope to get sleeved sometime in July at no extra cost! Good luck.
  23. I assume you're self-pay? I just had to give them my copay. Of course, I now have a $400 lab bill because I have a deductible. So I guess I'm paying the same.
  24. Hang in there, it can be done. I'm pre-op but I knew this would be a big deal for me. I'm the three refills of tea girl at restaurants so I started practicing. Now I don't drink during the majority of my meals. If I do drink, it's just a few sips. You can do this!
