Fat Consumption For A Day..
thanks for the fast reply, dorrie! I didnt worry about fat either -- until today. The yogurt that I bought today weighs 136gms a cup. It had 2gms of fat and 3 gms of Protein per 100gm serving. I'm planning to have 2 cups a day - which will be 5.4 gms of fat and 8 gms of protein approx. I just wanted to know if this is a conservative number.

First Milestone/mini-Goal!
Oh WOW!! You look gorgeous!! Grrrr... I wish the 30+ lbs that I lost after the surgery could make such a beautiful difference in my appearance!

Fat Consumption For A Day..
I have been concentrating on getting my required gms of Proteins in everyday and doing considerably well compared to the first month. I have added low fat flavored yogurt into my daily diet. I'm considering adding low fat ricotta cheese (need to consult with my doc first) too. And I'm concerned about the fat consumption for day. If it is not much trouble, may I ask you my fellow sleevers, how many gms of fat do you consume on average per day? I dont really get quality low-fat products where I live. So I'm always doing the math to make sure I get enough Protein and less fat. Your replies will help me keep track and make sure I dont over do fat, coz I am a slow loser (not complaining -- I'm thankful for every pound lost!!) and I dont want anything in my diet to adversely affect the weight loss.

Monday Motivation
I have a beautiful picture hung on my wall: it shows a victorious man at the Himalayan peak waving a flag, with this quote on the flag. I saw this picture in a store some months back and was deeply impressed. It really does make you want to strive to unlock your hidden potential to be great!

I Was Nervous And Scared
Glad that you are going into the surgery with a confident and positive outlook. This forum gave me that confidence to go into my surgery. These days, VST is the first thing I open on my browser when I wake up LOL. And all the best for a safe surgery and speedy recovery!!!

Family
You did a great job avoiding temptation! The first few weeks, when my family sat around for dinner, I just had my mushies in my room - I didnt feel confident enough to be near my favorite food that soon past surgery. LOL

Dont Regret This But This Is So Hard
So sorry you are feeling bad! Have you tried something different with your diet? At 5 months post-op I think your sleeve would be able to handle a bit of spices? I used to eat non-vegetarian food during my childhood, but for the past 12 years I have been a vegetarian/eggetarian (though I had some chicken 2 years ago when I was in US). I have now started taking fish(salmon). I feel that a bit of spices enhance the flavor and help me eat the fish without feeling nauseous. Sorry - not sure how much of help this is. But I hope you start feeling better soon!

Personal Goals..
I had my goal as 143 lbs (65 kgs) initially - I didnt look for 'normal' BMI, I just thought 143 sounded reasonable since that was my weight during college (8 yrs ago). But then I thought maybe I should have something even lower, so that even if I just make it to 143, I will still be happy 143 is still overweight for my height (5 feet exactly) but I think I will look and feel better at 143 than now.
-
Personal Goals..
My surgeon did not set any goal for me, so I set one for myself -- the higest range of 'Normal' BMI. If your surgeon did not set any goal for you, did you set one for yourself? And what made you choose that number?

I Find The Operation Stupid
I am 7 weeks post op and I'm still on soft and mushed solids diet. Even if you are on a solid diet, I dont think a cheeseburger is a good idea at this point in time. Hang in there -- the sleeve will work as it is supposed to when we feed it right. You could check with your nutritionist about what are the right food choices at this point. Take care of yourself!!

What Do You Like About Yourself? It's A Tell All!
I like my eyes and smile - a lot of people comment that I have a beautiful face. My friends were very concerned that I may go all hard angles after the WLS, but till now that hasn't happened. So I'm kinda hoping that I retain what my friends call a 'charming' face (whatever that means LOL) And this has nothing to do with weight: Last week I took a cab back from work and once I reached home and settled the money, the cab driver said I had a great voice and that it is really rare to hear such a sweet voice! Ofcourse, I blushed and stammered a thanks but I was grinning the whole week (still do LOL). That was such an unexpected compliment. I have had many friends say my voice is good, but never has a stranger complimented me on it.
