  1. For the guys out there (and gals) that were worried about if they could ever eat a normal portion of a food or drink after their sleeve, for my experience its yes. I'm four weeks out from surgery and never had any food or drink issues. Today I downed a whole 11 oz Protein shake with ease with no bad feeling afterward. Also I'm having normal portions of things like roast beef and fish. Mind you I've now been trained to eat slower and I'm paying attention to properly chewing things. Maybe its were I'm still eating softer foods...but I'm moving more toward my protein goals from foods from shots and shakes...which is great. The atkins bars make for a great high protein snack and greek vanilla yogurt. My diet for this week will consist of deli turkey breast dipped in spicy mustard maybe wrapped in 2% milk cheese, denty moore beef stew, campbells chunky Soups, frozen fish and salmon, canned chili. My sleeve absolutely loves WHEAT THINS...has for over a week now. I guess its where it chews up into a nice mush. For the folks who loved meat before, the post op diet is going to fill right back into track.... thought I'd share that! Worm
  2. Same here..I've hit the 3 or 4 week stall. Dropped 40 pounds in 2 and half weeks...now dropped like 4 in a week. I figured it was just the body adjusting back from the shock of surgery. I'm still watching what I eat and doing healthy choices so I figured I'm doing my part. COME ON SLEEVE GET BACK AT IT
  3. for side protein I use Greek Vanilla yogurt (15 grams of protein tastes great goes down smooth) and for others I use the Atkins bars. I try to find the ones with lower calories but with higher protein. I just had a peanut butter bar one that had 19 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar...but has 220 cals...based on what I've ate for the day I was able to fit it in.
  4. This was my biggest thing to overcome and realizing that showed how much I was really over eating just to not waste anything. Its just something I've come to expect now...at least we have plenty of leftovers!
  5. They tatste great but TOO much sugar. I stopped buying them after that. Look for shakes like Ensure that have 5 grams of sugar or less.
  6. Odd that you mention getting light headed when getting out of a chair. This happens to me also BUT only in my living room recliner after I've been sitting for a bit..What would be the cause of that? It never happened prior to surgery
  7. No worries..I'm on my 3rd week stall as well..but I can't complain in over two weeks I lost 40 pounds and been the same weight for the past 5 days
  8. Sugar Free Snack pack all the way...all flavors...the cups are the perfect size
  9. Yea Im two weeks post op but only getting around 300 cals in a day...no worries though I don't feel it. Living on vitamins and the energy from the "B" vitamins keep me charged up. Living on reserves and vitamins has helpped me lose over 30 pounds in two weeks. Good luck with those isopure drinks..I HATE THEM...I moved over to the Gatorade recovery's which have protein in them and taste much better!
  10. Yea you should go back into the doc. There is a protective glue thats suppose to be over the wounds. The glue on me lasted two weeks before it started pealing and then when I took them off last night my sites were FULLY healed. Don't be afraid on this, its a small thing but you don't want to get an infection from non action...
  11. I've been doing the already shakes from Muscle Milk to the Pure Protein cans you find at Walmart. Just remember to get one with 20-30 grams of protein per surving and with close to ZERO sugar
  12. Yup dusting off the clothes from 4-5 yrs ago now and washing them up! BTW guys, your feet might get smaller too, I'm having to go back down to a size 14 wide from a 15 wide...
  13. I was sleeved on Jan 12th and I've lost 33 pounds so far in under two weeks. I am down from a 6 XL shirt to this brand new 4 XL !!! that I bought today. I haven't been in a 4 XL in yearrrrrs. I'm 32 yrs old and I'm 6'3 and the POUNDS are falling off me!!! Just wanted to share that story cause I'm pretty excited about it!! Worm
  14. Don't fear the "JP Drain" if its used on you during your sleeve surgery. You don't even know its there and its easily pulled out before they discharge you. On the list of worries of the surgery, the JP drain should be down at the bottom. I had one, no big deal...
  15. You're not going to find specific health insurance rates online without calling into a company and giving your medical history/selecting your options first. I recommend finding one of the bigger carriers in your state, usually an Anthem or Humana because they have the biggest network of doctors. Most individual plans DO NOT COVER Sleeve surgeries. The plans that do cover it are usualy on large group plans offered through an employer. Hope that helps I'm an insurance agent...
  16. Congrats, you're now over the hardest physical part
  17. yup the 30 min rule was also advised to me by the doc. So far its working like a charm!
  18. Its ok to reschedule surgeries. It sounds like your support system on this is already failing. The pre-op diet is SO important to shrink down your liver prior to surgery to make the proceedure go more safely and to also see if you can mentally follow the diet after surgery. No one said you had to be in a hurry in doing all this. Just make sure you feel ready to do it and know your support is going to be there and you've made the mental commitment to follow the change in lifestyle. Once its done, there's no turning back!
  19. That sounds great and very simliar to what I'm going through. I was sleeved on Jan 12 and I've lost 26 pounds already in just under 2 weeks. I have ZERO complications or pain and was back to 100% by the fourth day out of surgery. Living on water, broth, protein shakes, protein shots, vitamins, and yogurt. I plan on going back to the tredmill starting Monday..so I should start to lose even more!
  20. Same here..except its just my feet that stays cold. I was expecting this since I had read before my surgery, the hormone that controls hunger "Ghrelin" also controls body temp. One of the production centers of Ghrelin in the body is found on the streatchy part of the stomach...which is the same part removed during a VSG. Add all that plus loss of mass = higher blanket budget, higher heating bills
  21. Doc orders for me on this is to begin one week after surgery which will be this Thursday. The risk from the pain of a gallbladder attack AND another surgery to remove it will out weigh in my mind any side effects it may have. Or if it does bother me I'm sure I can ask for a different med
