I Didn't Want Anyone To Know!!!
Do you think if you ask the girl to keep it confidential that she would? Also she would have her job to consider if she blabbed and you asked her not to. Patient confidentiality - I think would be a priority to her employer and lastly if she is working at a weight loss place, I would hope that she believes in the work that she does and wouldn't be judgmental because she knows that it works and it is needed. I hope that makes sense...

What Exactly Is The Liquid Diet For??
I'm kind of on a semi-liquid diet. I don't have to loose a pre-determined amount of weight preop. But I have to drink two protein shakes a day and then eat dinner or lunch whichever meal I plan on having. The meal has to be high protein/low carb. Doc asked that I not eat anything solid 48 hours in advance. He sometimes people do the "last meals" the night before and their tummy is still full during surgery and he has to "hand express" the solids out.....sounds gross....so I will be sure to not eat anything solid during that period.

Caffeine And Protein
My doctor is pretty laid back on most of the rules that I see people have on here. But he was adamant about not having ANY carbonation. Which was incredibly hard for me since I used to drink about 10-12 diet cokes a day. My doc said that caffeine was fine and that it would not affect the band. However some people say that since it is a stimulant that it may make u hungry....other studies say that it helps not make you hungry....so I would say do what works best for you...however I would definitely stay away from carbonated beverages as it could stretch your pouch and that would be disappointing to go through all this to not get the full benefit of the band.

A Horrible? Ting Happened To Me
Glove - I agree with all of thee above. I also had the same fears....and I forced myself to weigh the positive and negatives. The positives outweigh the negatives every time. I kind of liken it to child birth. Knowing everything that could possibly go wrong with having a baby is always on your mind during pregnancy. However the reward is much more worth the fear and risks...does that make sense?

No Support Group That Is Close To Me
Good Idea - I assumed that support groups were only for a particular surgeon. There is one at the local hospital but not my surgeon. Apparently my surgeons office no longer provides it because it wasn't popular. True Results in Houston offers it...but that is pretty far for me. Pollyanna - that is kind of what i was thinking...something is better than nothing.

Non Measurable Results From Lap Band
Going on a Christmas Cruise this December. Soooo... I would like to wear a real bathing suit that isn't skirted like a tent! I would like to wear a pair of cute cut off shorts without worrying that the that the material in the thigh area isn't going to ride up! I want to go on the cool looking slide thing....and not worry about getting stuck in front of everyone! I want to sit comfortably in any chair and not have to worry about the plastic ones breaking in the sand! I want to look pretty on my husband's arm I now silly and vain... I am doing this for me...but deep down I want him to be proud of me to. He always says he thinks I'm pretty the way I am....but well...you know what I mean. I want him to say it and really mean it. Not sure if that makes sense.

No Support Group That Is Close To Me
I don't have a support group that is close. I am considering Overeaters Anonymous. Has anyone else used them and does the same principles work with the band? Are weight loss people welcome at OA? Or if you know of a support group near The Woodlands, Kingwood, Humble, New Caney or Porter in Texas...I would be love to know. Thanks!

What If....
Swadley - I am a high protein/low carb as well. The recommend two shakes and high protein lunch and dinner. This morning instead of a shake I had a protein bar. It is an Atkins meal replacement with 180 calories and 15g protein. It tastes so good...I feel like I am cheating! However 48 hours before surgery it is just liquids.

Insurance Won't Pay!
What True Results are you going through? I am going through True Results in Houston and they have a hernia/lap band program. If you qualify the insurance will pay for a portion and you will just be responsible food $5500 which can be in house financed. I think it comes out to $270 a month for 2 years. I didn't really have symptoms of a hernia but paid $80 for the EGD and I had one...a tiny one...but it qualifies! I was happy to hear that I had a hernia...lol Apparently many overweight people have a hernia and may not know about it. It's worth checking out.... I also wanted to mention that my employer had an exclusion as well. I have UHC.

Buh Bye....
I have totally given up Diet Coke. For those that know me...know that I ALWAYS have a diet coke sitting next to me and that I am ashamed to to say that I can go an entire year without drinking a bottled Water but drink 10-12 diet sodas a day. This is what I did to quit 3 weeks ago. I stopped Diet Coke completely because of the carbonation. I thought that I would ween myself by drinking coffee. I was mean on day one...I even cussed someone out by phone (bill collector) and this not my way of doing things. Day 2 - I was still a little irritable had maybe 2 cups of coffee...but I stopped drinking coffee to. I had a slight headache for a day or two...not a major one. I have been drinking bottled waters...but I doctor it up with crystal light or Hawaiian punch flavors. No sugar or calories. I now drink 6-8 bottled waters a day. I have my surgery on April 3rd. I was told absolutely no carbonation and that is what kick started me.
