I'm So Blah I Don't Even Know What To Title This Blog.
Today is one of those days where I feel like I'm going backward. Though I've made amazing progress in the past three months, the past week is what is getting me down. It's the yo-yo plateau. You know, the same two pounds...back and forth, back and forth. Ugh! I am trying to step up my exercise and mix it up a bit. Watching my calorie intake. Trying to keep my water intake up as well. Those two pounds just won't leave forever! I know I should focus on NSVs like all the positive comments I'm getting from people; the fact that I have very few items in my closet that fit; the fact that I just got a pair of pants that are THREE sizes smaller than what I had when I started this journey. Isn't it amazing how two freakin' little pounds can trip you up in such a way. Okay....gonna try to be more positive tomorrow.

No Birthday Cake For Me ...
I was banded January 25th. On April 25th, I celebrated my 43rd birthday, my 3-month bandiversary and my goal of having lost 45 lbs! I, however, did eat cake. But I'd "saved up" for it and only had a few small bites....just enough to say I'd had cake on my birthday. No special meal. But I like what you said about not making the celebration about the food. I had so many other things to celebrate, the few bites of cake was just a very small part of it. Congrats to you! i want a beach cruiser too! I have somewhat of a mountain bike and its soooo uncomfortable! God bless you!

Restriction: the Holy Grail
Great article. I'm a little over 3-months post-surgery and had no idea about "soft-stop signals" like sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose. Wow! And I thought it was just my allergies...could've been "stop signals".

2 Years And 130 Lbs Later... Reached My Goal!

How Is Is Possible? Down 15 Pounds But 2 Sizes???
I did the same thing at first. I, too, usually lose a size for every 20 lbs. However, those first few weeks...were just like you described. I'm at 43lbs now and its evened back out to the 20lb-rule. LOL. I'm down two sizes since I started pre-op diet on Jan 11. Blessings to you!

Lap Band Removed And Still Have Restriction!
Wow, sounds like it could be swelling from the erosion and surgery. Your stomach probably shrank some with the band as well. I would guess that it would stretch back out some as time goes by. Good luck to you!

Protein Shake
I must say that I do not drink mine mixed with water. I mix my powder with a cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I usually add a teaspoon of Splenda and about a 1/4 cup of instant coffee (1 teaspoon of powder to 1/4c. of water). I either pour it over ice or crush ice with it.

Surgery In The Am!!!
It'll be over before you know it! It literally felt like only a few minutes (to me) between being wheeled into the OR and waking up in recovery. Saying a prayer for you! Keep us posted and God bless!

Protein Shake
Have you tried EAS pure protein chocolate? I like that and the Curves protein shakes. Those are both whey protein powders. Maybe soy would be better with your system? I haven't tried those.

Pre-Op Diet
niquey0685...congratulations on starting this journey! Your procedure is on my birthday and I'd be willing to bet if will eventually feel like a new birthday for you! I know January 25th seems like it for me now. We're all here to share our stories, problems, questions, successes and failures..and we'll be here for you too. God bless you!

What Would You Do??
This same thing happened to me! I was coughing so badly that I was worried about what would happen post-surgery. My doc said I would be fine, that the antibiotics would probably kick whatever was going on with me...and sure enough...just like above...I felt better after surgery!

Watching Sodium Intake?
whew! I am getting my water in so maybe its not a big deal. I must do better with the salt intake though. no more snacking on pickles. LOL.
-
Sleep Test
By the way...there's really nothing to fear from the sleep test. I've had it done and my son had one when he was about 9 or 10.

Sleep Test
I second what Michele39 said. Sleep apnea can also be a co-morbidity, which can help with insurance approval. If you have sleep apnea, they will make sure there is a machine there because of the anesthesia and how it puts you into such a deep sleep. It might also affect what kind of anesthesia they use as well...not sure.

Watching Sodium Intake?
Is anyone actively watching sodium intake? I'm very much a salt-a-holic and have not been consciously counting my sodium. I'm wondering if it might be hindering me some days.

With This Band...
I love the comparison to marriage. Great blog!

Trial Diet
My doctor is in Nashville. I had 2-3 days of liquids and then i could TRY mushies. If that went okay, I could do 2-3 days of that and then TRY soft foods...and so on. my post-op diet went pretty quickly.

Short Of Breath And Dizzy
I think I did that too. Part of it, I think, is all the air that is pumped into your abdomen...plus all that stuff in there is swollen from the doctor doing his/her work. I felt like the almost-fainting was due to my pain pills but I might not have been getting enough water.

Getting Banded On May 18
oops...its your pre-op that is on my birthday...will still say a prayer for all to go well and all questions to be answered.

Getting Banded On May 18
so true Waynef! I barely remember them taking me down for an x-ray afterward. I think I remember drinking the contrast but to be honest I'm not sure. lol. Natbug2011...blessings to you and congrats on your decision for the surgery. Your date is my birthday...so I'll remember and say a prayer for you that morning.
