  1. I need to know how to get over a plateau. I've been hovering around 30-32 pounds lost for the past couple of weeks. I had a .4cc fill on Tuesday; finished my 2-day liquids last night; and went back on mushies today. I exercise at least 4-5 times a week for 30minutes to an hour. If I go over on my daily carbs, its not by much and my doc said that's okay. I usually don't go over 1000 calories in a day. I get all my protein (plus some, usually) in. The only thing that I have a problem with is getting in 64 oz of water. Usually, I'm at about 48. Could that be the problem??
  2. Sounds exactly like my pre-op diet was. Who is your doctor? I agree with the others...just keep telling yourself its only a few days...and drink as much broth, eat as much SF jello and SF popsicles as you need to...and water! Don't forget your water. That's what I did. I also had the fasting tests in the middle of it as "waitingpatiently" did today. It was rough. I'm trying to go to bed a little earlier at night too. You can't eat if you're asleep. (and I don't feel my hunger until well after my alarm goes off in the mornings.). Blessings to you on this journey!
  3. I use the EAS Pure Protein Chocolate. 23g protein and 7 carbs. I mix it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Yum. Even yummier when I add a tsp of instant coffee dissolved in about 1/4c. of hot water.
  4. Wow...some doctors have a lot of gall to try stuff like that! I agree with the others. I would have the port fixed and band filled and try again before getting part of my stomach removed. After all, it was the doctor's negligence...not the band itself not working. Any surgery is a huge step...and you've already taken one with the band. But the sleeve is MAJOR. Saying a prayer for you!
  5. i usually do after an adjustment. It also seems to me that after a week or two, the band relaxes a little and I'm able to eat a little more.
  6. How does one know if the band has slipped? I don't think mine has. However, I've been excercising a lot and i want to know what to look for...just in case.
  7. I feel kinda the same way. i'm going in for m 6wk post-op check up. According to my scale, I've been fluctuating between 30 and 32 pounds lost over the past week. I have no idea what the doctor's scale will say. I'm hoping another fill will help also. Blessings to you!
  8. way to go!!! So proud for you!
  9. You are right...it shouldn't take a week...but maybe it because its Friday, they're trying to get out of the office, maybe they have a long line of medical records requests? who knows? At least they called back and working hard on it again. Sucks that he's going to be out of the country for so long.
  10. wow!! Best of luck to you. Praying for a successful journey for you. What an awesome NSV! God bless!
  11. I felt restriction with my first fill...then after a couple of days it seemed to lighten up a little bit. When I went back to more solid foods, it did seem to feel like more restriction. However, now I'm almost 3 wks out from that fill and it doesn't feel as tight. I think the band starts to relax some. I'm now getting hungry within about 3 hrs, where it was being 4-5 hours. Going back Tuesday for another.
  12. I was told not to as well. Straws draw additional air in and can cause that awful "pain-in-the-shoulder" thing from gas.
  13. My cousin was denied 4 or 5 times for gastric bypass and she was probably 400+ pounds at the time. She had several health issues, doctors and hospitals submitted on her behalf. She kept appealing (or the doctor did) and she finally got approved. Moral of the story, if you know you meet your insurance company's requirements...don't give up. I will send up a prayer for you on this. God bless!
  14. well...that first week...I followed his schedule for the couple of days liquids, couple days mushies, then try the solids. I didn't get sick or stuck but I was having a lot of pain. So I went in they took out 1cc. I could breathe! 24 hours later, I realized what my problem had been. I had been weighing my meats instead of measuring them. I was eating too much! Plus, I've realized since then that my band had not truly "settled" yet. So..I wasted about 2 wks of possible weight loss because they wouldn't adjust again until my 3 wk check-up. At my 3 wk, I got 1.5 cc. And yes..I love also that Dr. Morton doesn't mess around! Everyone in that office has been great! What has been the toughest part for you all?
  15. Dr. Morton is my doc too! Banded Jan 25th. Had an "unfill" on 2/1 (big mistake...I should have been more patient) but then re-filled on 2/15. Hoping to get my 2nd one next Tuesday. Doing good!
  16. Wondering if there are any bandsters from Nashville, TN here. If so, who was your surgeon? When were you banded?
  17. Amen to both of these posts. I have forced myself to sign up for a weight loss challenge at my gym, I'm doing a 2-mile walk for March of Dimes and I'm signing myself and my son up for a 5k for his school in April. I figure if I make enough commitments, I won't let myself down. Good luck and blessings to you!
  18. I want to play basketball with my son and not get winded.
  19. normal to have some swelling. Most doctors require a day or two of liquids and thne back to soft/mushies for a day or two, after a fill. I'm surprised the doc said solids were okay. hey Holly Dolly....tell me about the 5day pouch test. I've missed this somewhere in my reading/discussions. Thanks. Blessings Rhya2k
  20. I pray you are on the mend! Keep us posted. Sending prayers your way and God bless!
  21. I think (for me anyway) its a psychological thing stemming from having battled my weight for so long. That's why I try not to step on the scale every day. I don't want that little machine to have that kind of power over me. Some days I succeed. lol.
  22. That's freakin' awesome! I hope to posting the same thing this time next year...prayerfully, sooner! Congratulations!!!
  23. Wow Corianna! That's awesome! Wish I could make it to that by my 7th week. I don't see it happening. LOL. I know everyone loses differently, but are you doing anything else "extra special"? Pardon me if I'm being too nosy.
