  1. I was set to get my lapband in November 2011, and was goin thru the final tests, including an ultra sound. I got a call the same day from drs office that my gallbladder looked to be full of stones, no symptoms whatso ever. so instead of lapband I got my gallbladder taken out, dr wanted to do lapband 3 weeks later but opted out.. its bets to do it now, before problems/smptoms start showing up, froom what Ihear they are not nice pains.
  2. Ive only been here two weeks and this site has been a wealth of information good and bad, not based on scientific finds but personal experience, thats the best kind of advise I say. Some things will work for one but not the other and thats why they call it a learning tool. i don't know about you guys but my lapband didn't come with an instruction book. I have people checking on me, I check on them, am supportive in a way that no one else can be. I love this site! thumbs up for me!!
  3. I thought as long as you had co-morbidities it didn't matter what your BMI was,
  4. But remember the weight for the most part is staying off,
  5. someone mentioned the chili at wendys, Im doing soft eggs, lots of Beans, avocados, cottage cheese, and still those Protein Drinks, yogurt now and then, cream Soups, I worry Im not eating enough or Im eating too much, check the forum for diets/foods here. lots of good ideas,
  6. sometimes those are the words that HAVE to be said to make us cross that line to decide to get the lapband. Good luck !
  7. well good luck, don't to add that to what ever else you will be going thru! get those germs!
  8. no swabs here, but be careful. I know they kept asking me if I had any open cuts/wounds. and they had signs about MRSA. Are you going to have to take medicines or something?
  9. most people go for the whey at the beginning, I have both whey and soy only because I was using soy before lapband. and because one offers a flavor not found in other brands. You can go to local health food stores, even Wal-mart carries, Best thing would be to check with your doctors office for type. If you can add 1/2 banana, some people add yogurt. Lots of ways to spice up the drink. Good Luck.
  10. wow so sorry for all the misspells this am, but you know what I mean!
  11. oh my dr tried to switch my moods to extended release, I said now is not the time to be switchiing my meds, (they helped my brain wind down at night. After 3 days after surgery not able to sleep I called his office and requested my old rx back. You have to be an advocate for yourself sometimes, you know whats best for you. write down questions you have for drs, any thoughts you have. they are only human too, I'm hoping once I lose weight, I won't need as much of that kinds of meds anyways so Im not swelling on that part of it. Good luck to you,
  12. I'm right there too, I've always been heavy to the point where I have no sense of fashion, clothes were just clothes to cover myself. No make up. But once I made my decision to get banded, I have been buying smaller clothes and hanging in separate closet.FIlled a make up band, letting my hair grow longer than I ever have, instead of the cut of shower shampoo and go. So once Im ready I will have. Good Luck sister, look ahead not back! Your mom meant well, but you know better..
  13. Glad you asked I want to know too!
  14. I'm negative right now, because this is all new to me, and everyday is a new surprise and I don't do good at surprises, but I read the success stories and most of them say they have had the same problems or thoughts at the same time in process so its normal, Lets hope to be success stories!

Im 16 days out, and mushy for me is cream soups, avacado, refried beans, cottage cheese, fruit pops. lots of that flavored 0 calorie water. I had toppings of a slice a pizza today and it didn't come out my nose so I guess thats good. Oh yogurt, lots of flavors these days. go online lots of good ideas. I just worry that I ate too much or not enough. but soon enough my body will tell me. Good luck and let me know if you find something really good!
  16. Isn't it amazing to look at food now and think how much we used to eat? At my work today they had donuts and breakfast burritos, and a pizza party at lunch, It would be a given that I would of had 1-2 pieces of everything. but all I ended up having was one slice of meat pizza. I was asked if I was on a diet and all I said was yes. I just ate the toppings/cheese and Im doing ok.(for now) Weather's warming up here in California, so drinking water will be easier. My first op visit is Monday. good luck !
  17. Do I have to now get all my meds in liquid form.
  18. I just wanted to tell you I copied your post and put in in a virtual time capsule to me sent to me in one, so I will read it then and ask myself the same questions and hopefully get the same answers! Its called hasslebot. where they will send you email reminders of whatever you want.
  19. Congratulations and Amen sister, I'm barely two weeks so many of your questions are hitting home right now. its not gonna come easy and its not gonna come without sacrafices but the rewards will be that much sweeter. Thanks for your words of encouragement for many of us!
  20. look forward to reading!
  21. I went to restaurant and had a chicken enchilada no tortilla, beans and sliced avacado. It was nice to dip the chicken in the enchilada sauce. not spicy at all. There will be plenty of things, don't worry enjoy your kids..!
  22. Gerry, I'm 14 days out myself, the pressure is the food, "hitting" our new walls of our "new" stomach I think. Did you take small bites? wait a few minutes inbetween?. its hard especially when we are used to eaten like someone's gonna ****** it out of our hands . Monday I had some beans/avacado, I ate too fast, too big bites, and I was still feeling it today, yesterday it was all liquids. I would just do liquids if I were you, maybe that will help. Apparently when you get stuck, everyone has a different approach, whether it be throwing up, drinking pineapple juice. burping. Good luck!
  23. We all will be going through the moments, but tomorrow is another day, I know I ate too fast yesterday, too big of bites, and I am paying for it now, I feel a heaviness in my chest and had a few sips of tea for breakfast and few spoonfuls of chicken soup for lunch. I feel bad because I went home for lunch and blew up at my hubby because he hadn't put the vaccum cleaner away and it got tangled in my laptop table and everything fell to the ground. My co-worker told me right now Ive been cranky so it's obviously showing. Oh well back to soups today and tomorrow. Good luck and hopefully your wagon passes my way soon!
  24. ohh take it easy on the chow, give time for your tummy to heal. Your dr didn't say clearn liquids only for now?
  25. I remember reading that you should go to as many as you want until you feel comfortable with information given.
