  1. Is it for everyone that has had the surgery or only for their patients? I had my surgery out of state do I don't know if I qualify to come. Do you know?
  2. Hey yall! Still a newbie here only 3 weeks out but I was wondering if there was a local support group in our area. I'm in Trussville, just north of Bham. Thanks!
  3. Hope your swelling goes down super quick! Glad to hear your feeling okay. Welcome to the loser's bench!!
  4. Mine is "Nanner" cause it's banana shaped!
  5. You'll do great! Update us when you feel up to it!
  6. You will do just fine, I am sure!! It really is a life changing experience!! Stay on this board and all the people here will offer you all the support you want....and maybe some you don't want too! Lol!! I am 2 weeks post op now and I am on here daily. I think it's almost an obsession!! Please let me know if I personally can help you in any way!
  7. I found a recipe online for some mock cheesecake and OMG is it good. I used strawberry Jello but you can use any flavor you want. Hope y'all enjoy!! 2c fat free cottage cheese 1 small box of sugar free jello 1/2c boiling Water Mix Gelatin with boiling water until dissolved. Put cottage cheese in blender and add dissolved gelatin to it. Blend until creamy looking. Put in container and chill until firm. That's it!! Sooooo simple! Message me if you need more details!
  8. My ALT levels are pretty much always out of the normal range. A week before surgery mine were at 180. I haven't been back to the doctor for my follow up yet. I go on the 20th for my one month. They think mine is caused by prednisone usage for hives over the last 9 years. Hopefully this surgery will help to bring them down!
  9. Wishing you a super speedy recovery!!!
  10. You will feel the restriction some with creamy liquids but not as much as with puréed food or solids. For me the "full" feeling is kind of a tightening in my chest as though I need to burp. As far as creamy stuff went I am able to get my whole protein shake down but only about 1/2 cup of creamy soups at a time. I think it's a temperature thing. Anyway, hope this helps!! Just take it slow and you'll be fine!
  11. My surgery was 01/20/2012 and I will conquer the couch to 5k program and run in the 5k at my church this fall! Oh, I will also conquer my fear of lights in the bedroom.....
  12. Give it a few more days for the fluids and swelling to go down and you will see the scale moving in the right direction. I too gained weight from surgery am to when I weighed a few days post op. I am now 8 days post op and I have lost 8.6lbs. Keep sipping, keep walking and you'll be fine. I also am getting in all my fluids everyday including two protein shakes so that isn't hurting you! Welcome to the losers bench and also to the forum!!
  13. Thanks Elise!! I didn't even think of that!! I will stay away from those but that strawberry guanabana is sure yummy!
  14. Do you want me to sing you a lullaby? Lol!! Hope you can get to sleep soon!! Glad all went well!
  15. That sucks about your boyfriend but you can celebrate anyway! Try going to a Chinese place and getting some egg drop soup! That way your still going out but your also still staying in the confines of your post op diet. Btw, when do you get to start puréed food?
  16. If you like Ramen noodles you can buy those and just throw the noodles away. The little seasoning packs in those make for some yummy broth! I also use the bouillon cubes for mine cause I don't like the canned stuff either!
  17. Glad to see you are on your way to a smooth recovery now! I still have a week left of liquids and on how I'm longing for some mushies!! Keep up the good work! You are doing awesome!
  18. Have you tried mixing one of the protein shots with your crystal light? I found a liquid whey protein shot at Walmart which has 42gr of protein in a 3 ounce shot. I take half the shot with a 16.9 ounce bottle of water with my favorite crystal light mixed in. My fave shot is the watermelon. It goes great with lemonade crystal light or with plain water. Hope this helps!!
  19. For me? No, this is much better. I have had two c-sections and the pain from this surgery is much less. While I am still sore (muscle wise), I was in much more pain after the birth of my kids. I think it also helps that after this surgery I am not waking up every 2 hours at night, breast feeding a baby and experiencing the baby blues too! Lol!!
  20. I know I am supposed to be drinking 64oz of water per day but I'm wondering what counts towards this "water" number? Does the Vitamin Water Zero, Propel zero and Powerade Zero count towards the water intake? Do my protein shakes count? Or, does it have to be plain old water?
  21. The Premier Protein shakes from Sams are my favorite! They seem to be really popular around the forums too. They are 160 cals, 5 carbs, 1 gram of sugar and 30 grams of protein in 11 ounces. Hope you find one that works!!
  22. Good luck today! You will do great! Please update when you feel up to it!!!
  23. Incredible!! You look awesome! So excited for you!!
  24. Hey everyone! I just had my surgery 7 days ago and am looking for some local buddies to go thru this journey with. I live in the Trussville area now, north of Bham. Anyone out there close?
  25. Great job!! This sleeve is an amazing tool huh?
