Any More Sixties?
There is a forum for the 60 age group but it is not too active. I was banded 12/06 and am 62. I am way healthier than my formerly fat forties. I hope to keep my band... many cant. I also find the night the most challenging... I'm thinking most people do... Greek yogurt or yogurt popsicles are good. I try not to bring other stuff into the house.....

Best Weight Chart
My take is your body kinda decides where it's new set point is. And it wants to stay there. I can get lower but it wants to come back, Even after years of trying! I'll just stay where I am and be happy with a size 12 after all this time.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?
Thanks for the message. I struggle with my band at times. I try to keep it under inflated so as not to irritate it... mostly it lets me keep food down. Sometimes not. It is frustrating at times.... but I am fairly used to it after 10 years. I hope I can keep it. Most do not as you probably know. Congrats on the baby! What a great time. (I loved having my kids, but I got really big and had a yucky first marriage... )my remarriage was fabulous!! I also wonder about the sleeve, but I am 62 so not looking for anymore surgery I hope.... Good luck on your future and thank you for writing

Yes. But I did keep one pair of my biggest pants. Never forget from whence I came!

I'm still here. Alone apparently. Where are the long term bandsters? Few of us must be around

I lost my band / friend today
Wow. Please keep us posted. You were one of the long term veterans I could always count on. Good luck moving forward. Will you try another Wls or see what happens?[emoji93]

Banders #7
We are all here in our own small way, to support each other . I truly value the input here as life changes (illnesses, deaths, divorces, and ok. Weight gains )keep happening and .... We have no choice but to deal with them head on! I send support to all my veteran friends who know how difficult the years get. ( i have a bit of indifference to those boasting about 3 month losses... yet I remember how good it felt to see the weight dropping) THIS is where I go to see the real, everyday struggles and achievements of my tribe. Fondly,

Observation of before and after photos
I also notice how great people look at a higher weight than I would guess. I'm goon think Wls resets the body weight and it is hard to change, so many of us go with it... as opposed to bmi charts or dr goals And we look healthy and happy!! That is the best reward. And truly.... keeping it off is nirvana. (12/06 lapband)

Before and After Mommy Makeover
Wow. You must be happy and healthy!!! Congrats

Regrets anyone?
My take is you are not going to believe how your relationship with food can change. It is possible to not "fight" yourself and or food for long periods of time. No one is perfect! Best of luck for changing your health and life.

Set point
I have just finished a great article that also mentions the notion of Wls recalculating a bodies set point.. (The spot on the scale where your body prefers to stay) It talks about studies that show that Wls resets to a lower number, but often not the lowest number we choose. Furthermore it discusses how it is just as difficult to lower that number, and the body likes to go back to it. Even with exercise diet and due diligence. I found this to be true in my case. The article was studying lap banders in particular and after 10 years , personally, I can adjust that number a bit. I also can attest how hard it is for me to stay at 10 lbs below it. I don't have to mention it is still a daily awareness that keeps me from EVER. Going back to 272!!! I'm wondering if any of us few banders. Or others. Feel this way also??

Lack of support
Indeed. The KEEPING weight off is the true help for me.... years later, I still have to try, but it stays off

Banders #7
I am sending love and support from our cadre of weight warriors to you Liz[emoji173]️ What a setback! Sorry for the loss of immediate plans... Time to regroup I guess no matter how reluctantly... I do believe things will work out.... the disappointment is what hurts I think . Blessings are : Your beau is well ( and supportive as you would be also!). Your grandson is healthy and happy and knows you well .. you have insurance...and a home... I could continue. But you get what I'm saying. Knowing you through this site , I DO believe you are strong. As a support, I will mail to you anything you need to make your recovery better! Products, magazines, cards Let me know. We are a good small support group that has been through a few years of changes together.. hoping for more!!

I feel so guilty
There are some of us further out. It is still work I think. For me! I encourage all of us to think of why we are here !!! Ok. More water and exercise for me today. All I can do is keep trying everyday to make good choices to support my lifestyle. Trying to put together a week of good choices.... all I know is to keep trying. I will not go back to 272 lbs... ever ... I will keep trying... sigh

Liquid diet - weight loss.
My take is not only does the liquid diet help your body for surgery... it helps some of us see how much time and energy went to keeping us full! This can be a lifestyle change if you let it. Some of us need to be shocked into changing our lives... and it is hard work!!

NEWBIE NEEDS SUPPORT....
My take is the swelling from a fill can take a day or two to settle. Please don't irritate it.... mine takes days to settle down. Yogurt and soups seem to help. Good luck. Please update when possible !

Banders #7
Will some people in this group please update how life is treating you? This is a long road..... and it is helpful to have a few that know how the years go on. Spring is here ...liking the weather and flowers starting. Not liking the 5 lbs that dropped by....

For Vets who Gained after Goal, then lost it...HOW did you lose it?
It is a daily and weekly pattern of behavior that I strive for. Never perfect, but I'll take this life over my old one everyday.
