  1. Soda is a big factor in weight loss and gain. It wouldn't seem so with no calories. But it appears to be very addicting. (And lots of very heavy people drink much sugar free pop. ) It is a common post about wanting and giving it up on here... most docs seem to say no. Lots of patients really want it and post here about whether or not to give it up
  2. You should be very happy about changing your life and your health. Big congrats. Don't stop!!! Maintenance requires some vigilance.... but all good things do!
  3. This can be the start of a different way of eating and drinking... most docs seem to say no to soda. It is a prominent issue in obesity And very addictive also apparently Check with your doc, and try a new way for awhile. It can change your life if you let it. And trying everyday seems to be a must. Best of luck
  4. That is a fabulous feeling!!! Normalcy is underrated.... until you do not have it. We are lucky to have a second chance at a good life. Enjoy your slice of time with your daughter. (I am just about underwater here on the california coast!). Hoping for clearer skies.... in all ways.
  5. Please be kind to yourself and try to remember why you wanted to change your life. No fills in your band does mean it is not working the right way yet. For most people. A few don't get fills. Most do. Until we get to a spot that works to eat less and be full, and get a bit more active. It is not easy. But it can be done, (Banded 12/06. Lost and kept off 90 lbs) I have to work on it. But it does work. Nothing is perfect. So I just start over. And so can you! Good luck and keep posting !
  6. I'm reading that exercise can only be responsible for 20% of weight loss. That leaves 80% on the diet.... Sounds about right Banded 12/06 Happy to be at the right weight for 9 years Yes some days are hard No I'm not perfect, but I do get up and try again the next day
  7. Yes they did that with my tt. When the dr " pulls up" the skin from below the waist, it helps a lot! Also a bit of lipo in a few areas. A little scarring but no fold at all in my stomach area.... and tighter skin below.
  8. Yes if possible. Yogurt and sugar free puddings when cleared by doc. They will taste heavenly. Some really like sfree popsicles early on. Good wishes
  9. Congrats for being on the other side of this. I bet it was a bit scary beforehand. The pictures look great.... I always thought so anyway , but glad you are aligned right!!
  10. Part of my battle is won at the market. Thanks for the reminder[emoji486]
  11. My take is it depends where you start from. If you are 400 lbs, 200 may be perfect. If you start at 210.... What size you can live at and maintain is my guess. I go between 10-12 and couldn't be happier! My highest was 272. Never again!!
  12. Now I get no info on people except when they joined. No birthday. Nothing???
  13. There seem to be less and less of us veteran banders , but it is great to hear liz' inspirational story! She has done a great job helping others be "real" about this surgery. I have told her previously about what a great writer she is.... Truly a life change, not a diet! You were clear that you need less info from this site, but I think it is sometimes exciting to see others FINALLY see a different life... and it can last! That is the biggest difference to me.(oh yeah. It still is work!) but it works! Good luck sharpie on your surgery. It took me 8 years post op, but really enjoying having a flat stomach profile and also clothing change for size. Please keep us updated! Something new for us a bit more ahem... mature posters.
  14. None of my subscribed topics are there...
  15. Fabulous dress. Just relax on your big day and know how good 150 pounds lost looks on you! Use whatever is most comfortable!

Although we all choose who our donations go to , it is worth considering it they help your community. I happen to donate to a give back thrift store( $250k back to community organizations thus far) and animal help resale. But I do not choose to donate to some religious charities that are anti GLBT.
  17. I always thought you could not eat or drink before surgery because you could be sick under anesthesia. Operating on your stomach would seem to be a time when you would not want food to be in the operation
  18. I see many young people having Wls. I'm not positive I could have the right outlook and patience that I do at this time in my life. My life is less busy also and the kids are grown. So it helps with keeping groceries healthy and me on track. How do other "mature" adults stay on track for years?
  19. We seem to be compliant vets. I have no beef with anyone here and it is much kinder and less harpy and sexual now that Alex cleaned house. I am thankful.
  20. I believe this happens to many. Weight loss does get a bit tougher in maintenance . It is a daily issue for myself and many. I hope to put great days together and keep within my healthy range . Lots of protein drinks if I am up a bit.(banded 12/06) This is a life long lesson for me. And I keep getting schooled!! Some days are better than others. I am not giving up on this!! Hope you can find a way that works for your body. Sometimes staying a bit over a weight you like is what your body is saying to you. Whether you listen, or choose to battle it is truly up to you ! Good luck and keep posting!
  21. I have had a sharp pain in my port while bending. Thankfully it did subside. I'm also over 10 years out and do NOT want to trade in my band. Please tell us about any follow up
  22. Refried beans and cheese. Very soft. Can work well. Yogurt. Tofu ( some do some don't) Sugar free pudding for a big treat!
  23. I'm big on beans ... refried or just smashed. Lentils, split peas, quinoa. Maybe because it's been cold and I like something simmering? Baked tofu is tasty too (FYI I am not exclusively vegetarian... occasionally I'll eat chicken.) My band has encouraged grain protein far over any other product
  24. Refried. Or just smashed pinto beans helped me with protein and fiber. And helped with some issues of constipation early on.
  25. I'm with you erp! I think I look younger. And I work on it.... lots of options with Botox and fillers .
