  1. Well. For me. Fish is one of the only proteins ( and baked tofu which almost no one likes) that ALWAYS agrees with me. Wish it was chicken at times ...
  2. Really nice to hear from a seasoned vet !! Ya. Some months are very hard. Some procedures are harder than others. But I wouldn't trade it for my past life for anything!
  3. This is one of my hardest lessons. Even years out. I get hungry and proceed too fast. Sometimes it won't stay down. Then I am even hungrier... work in progress
  4. I would not have believed how much I like pre baked teriyaki tofu. Not the block in water kind, but drier... in packages, kind of shrink wrapped I found it in the heath food store. Tastes do change I suppose
  5. I did not own a scale post wls. For years. I weighed at my dr appt. it did me well. in the last year, I have decided every week (or 2) on a Friday morning, I will check in... I'm finding it is what I want to know now.... years later. But only occasionally
  6. I try for every Friday morning... I really have a sense this many years out if my clothes are fitting well and how hard it is to do a decent work out. But I try to keep a baseline
  7. 10 years and 100 lbs. changed my life. Banded 12/06
  8. I did not tell anyone but my spouse 10 years ago. My adult kids were at college The subject rarely comes up now as I seem " normal" sized. I will discuss it if someone is serious about wls, but otherwise it is just how I live my life: high protein... exercise... water... Repeat for years. (Banded 12/06) very thankful Ps. Don't think I don't stumble often like everyone. I do. Life is hard and good choices can be hard some days.sigh
  9. Good news, (and we want to see a pic from the upcoming graduation [emoji310] next month .) Thanks for reminding me to be thankful that 95% of my clothes fit 95% the time. I forget how I used to have such a wide range of sizes because I was such a wide range of body shapes. Sharpie now has a teenagers flat stomach... wow..happy for you..(a bit on the painful side?) . life keeps changing And I hope we keep healing ladies.
  10. I still find it challenging to eat slowly and chew at least 20 times. Yes. 10 Years out and I still have to remind myself.. And I need to keep my personal problem foods out of the house.. Tomorrow is another day Scarlett And I'll try again. I will not go back!!!
  11. Many years out, I can have popcorn occasionally. ( I am a bander) It is not recommended for those tiny sleeve stitches for awhile ... others can probably answer this better. Good luck
  12. Enjoy your new low weight. !! Many of us find there is a bounce range and our original low weight often is difficult to stay and maintain. Maintenance is a bit tricky but is doable. You have changed your life ... and I congratulate you on your victory!
  13. Yes. Eating slowly and chewing well are lessons that hit me in the stomach. Literally. If I don't heed them.. I use a lot of soups and stews this far out. I get liquid and my body doesn't seem to reject it. Beans and split peas. Who would have guessed? Not me ( banded 12/06)
  14. Great to see you again Queen! Some of us are still here... others have moved on for many reasons . I'm 10 years plus bander and still trying! Hope your book did well. Do tell! Ps you look healthy and younger!!
  15. Glad we are all here and get to chat about the twists and turns our lives take. (I think we might be getting older when we chat about dr stuff!) I am recovering from a pelvic injury... had 3 cortisone shots today and so far.... much less pain. Weigh in tomorrow... thinking it won't be where I want it.... so goes another week in banded life. I also hosted Easter JWM [emoji195]with help from the family and am glad I did. The chocolate called my name and I'm thankful it is gone!!
  16. Really not as bad as you might guess.... and refried beans also helped me a lot
  17. The best way I can explain my relationship with food after 10 years post band..... it really doesn't interest me. Amazing coming from someone who shopped and cooked for my family daily Now they are grown and gone..... sort of like my appetite. Shrunk and not coming back!!
  18. You must feel so much healthier and I'm guessing you maneuver in this world much better at your new low weight. Congratulations [emoji324][emoji898][emoji322] you look great. And " normal". Whatever that is I hope we all understand that term in this crazy world!
  19. Unless you want to tell and probably have people focus on wls, I would beg off. It's one charade to move food around and pick at it. I generally get up first and help clear when it is appropriate... (People notice far less than you think) but liquid only is unreasonable to fool people. Hard decision. Tell all and probably discuss it ad nauseum Best of luck with your choice... one of many coming!!
  20. I like extra (fairlife)protein milk... yogurt, eggs, fish, chicken thighs cooked in liquid , ...and I still use bars and occasional home made (inspire )protein drinks. Home made Refried beans are a staple Quinoa does have protein, and soy products have greatly improved ... pre baked and flavored tofu is amazingly good if you lean that way. Frozen yogurt is a treat! (Disclaimer: I'm a bander still working my program 10 years later...maintaining a 95 lb loss) And still I learn new things And wow. Just like everyone, I mess up!!
  21. I LOVE THIS ARTICLE.!! It says it all. Post 10 years wls , I just adore seeing common sense written for us everyday people .
  22. I try to think of "diet programs" as the old way of my life that did NOT help me. Just a long time of protein and water and walking and keeping on. No special diet but extra extra protein. And few carbs. Long term stuff. Not a daily diet deal Best of luck
  23. Most patients seem to dip low and then settle at a bit higher weight. I wouldn't worry until I got close and had problems. It is quite a process Best of luck
  24. I would bring what I was told was ok by the dr. Nuts?. Jerky? protein powder, protein bars, yogurt, string cheese softened, maybe a banana?
