  1. I have seen others suggest 3 days of protein drinks 3x a day to reset your band... Please tell me if this works if you do decide to try it. Best of luck. You've done it twice. You can do it again and get back to where you are comfortable.
  2. I remember the first few days being difficult, but quickly felt better after that. Congrats on starting a new chapter in your life. It truly works... if you do your part also.
  3. Seems so sluggish in this forum. Would those of you with bands please just let readers know you are still around? (Hoping) Thank you. Ps I do understand sleeves far outnumber us on this board .
  4. Congrats. That took much time and work. You look so healthy. Many cannot get as far as you. Be proud of what you have accomplished [emoji93]
  5. Went to schedule a fill... dang, Dr retired... trying to find a new Dr to fill... all are about 45 minutes away. Some do not adjust bands.. Harder task than I thought Back to mixing protein drinks. I swear I am not going backwards... too far ... Harder than I thought. Still apparently have "fat brain " "syndrome. Sigh And I'm trying to track down surgery documents from almost 11 years ago, and my original Doc has retired. Life still goes on. Choices to make every day
  6. Talk to your surgeon. They have some good rules about how long to wait for certain activities... Sitting for a long drive might be problematic... let alone driving and having to react quickly braking. Etc Good luck!
  7. You look great. Much younger with the weight off!! Good job
  8. I need to give up more than a few items. And I'm overdue for a fill.... almost empty right now....still need my crutch apparently... kinda thought I could depend on just me.... not true in my case. About a month or so in, little adds creep in I can do this... again
  9. Well.. I'm wondering about Liz starting Banders #8......
  10. Nice to see you on the boards Reeger is an awesome podcaster... I will look for your interview. Lovely to see some veterans still around! 11 years in December for me ... seems like a lifetime ago.
  11. I think we could make a million bucks if we knew the different ways to not Ever turn to food. !!Especially when the hunger is intense. Many times I'm ok with being a little hungry, but if I wait too long or have poor planning, I don't choose well. It has been many years, but I am still kinda arguing with 10 pounds.... If I keep my routine I seem to do better. Going out to eat... vacationing.... cocktails .. a dessert... those sort of things throw me off track . However. Life is still better at a lower weight!!
  12. And I'll chime in on weight loss averages... vs. weight STAYING off. That , in my opinion is the long Term goal! Even if all your excess weight doesn't come off or completely stay off .... you may have an easier time keeping at a lower weight. Long term!! Thankfully
  13. Glad to see a few posts from the dwindling lap bander group. Some of us are still around. I'm arguing (unsuccessfully) with 10 lbs right now. It is better than 20-30 or 40 lbs, but still...the only times I seem to be at goal is when I have the flu. Oh well... life is still easier to navigate at a "normal" weight.... whatever that is to each of us. Banders.... (especially the readers) please post. It helps to read of others and their banded life.
  14. Lots of bean/ meat combos, baked( not wet and not white)tofu, chicken thighs, refried beans, fish, Eggs, cheese, yogurt, chicken salad, fairlife extra protein milk, some protein shakes and bars for on the go.... that seems to be my shopping list A LOT Good luck and please keep posting
  15. I totally agree. Normalcy is underrated. !! And I understand normalcy is different for everyone . It is something people take for granted and those of us that have been bigger understand the issue. Ignorant people and innocent children seem to be the major culprits. What a great way to educate the kids. The adults..... not sure they can understand the concept Nice job.
  16. That is what the forum is. A mixture of everyone's views. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.... I can see it has only been weeks you have been here and I think you will see that people post their own ideas and experiences. Many people read these and that is why the information needs to be realistic.... Losing 40 lbs in 2 weeks sounds like a tv commercial... and though it was true, 3 days later there was a 12 lb gain. That needs to be clear for others looking into wls results. Imho
  17. Please keep posting your epic weight loss journey.
  18. Once again, for the THOUSANDS that read these posts and are looking into Wls, 40 lbs in 2 weeks is almost unheard of... (and it turned to 28 lbs in 2 weeks and 3 days ). The 28 lb amount seems more realistic for the many who are trying. Even those who lose 5 lbs in a week should be happy . I'm just a 10 year post wls realist who wants many to succeed, but be healthy and realistic of the outcomes.
  19. My take on this is I try to limit my time spent on food exposures. That is: The grocery store , (not many restaurants), hardly any food shows, no perusing cookbooks for fun....(occasionally a wls friendly food prep on here) It seems to be a technique that has helped me the past 10 years post op. I could not believe the time and energy and money spent pre op on thinking about food, shopping, preparing , serving , cleaning.... and repeat . It appears that some of us post op have a sort of laundry list of items and meals that work to keep our weight in check.... Still maintaining, and I still have be a bit vigilant about my habits.... but this life is easier 90 lbs lighter!!
  20. Thank you berry. I'm happy for anyone that sheds weight. It is so difficult in this society . I hope others don't feel it is as easy for them. Most people absolutely cannot lose 28 lbs in 2 weeks... but I am happy you did and you kept going.... nothing good in life is easy as my mom would say Success feels great to everyone. Even if it is 5 pounds![emoji486]
  21. I feel the same about food coming up There is no smell. It is just undigested food still in my throat. And it slides out easily and I feel much better. Please don't worry about the stranger issues that sometimes come.... (both ends can react). The trade off of shedding lots of weight and KEEPING the pounds off really made the it well worth it. Best of luck
  22. Great topic. I'm an oldie lap band. 10 years post wls. Some of us are still around It is still work I am here to tell you. But life is way easier with a 90 lb loss. If I'm unmindful.... I can inch up the scale. Then like Kathy said.....It is back to water and walking and light eating. I am still so thankful for my tool, But I am arguing with 10 lbs right now. Oh well. Life is still good!!
  23. And 12 lbs came back in 3 days. So not quite the loss. I've been at this 10 years post wls. Keep posting and we can see how it goes[emoji486]
  24. Ditto this. Be happy we got healthier. Not just a number!!! I've been at this post wls 10 years. And it is rare to lose it all and keep it all off. Some do. Most of us just do way better than before and it is all relative to where you start
  25. 2 months is what the post should read
