  1. I'm many years out. I do enjoy Halo ice cream as a treat.. I just try to limit the sweet treats that I like sooooo much. However, the 200 calories I Can get from almost a whole pint(!) can fit in my healthy range of calories ... just not too often. And I probably would have some every night if it was in front of me!!! Not perfect ever ... just trying almost all the time.
  2. Some protein bars could agree with you.... also baked tofu. It is much different from white, jiggly containers. Teriyaki is very good. And super firm and dryer. Even some supermarkets ( and health food store) carry it. Fainting is not good. Keep trying other sources of protein : beans. Quinoa etc and ask a nutritionist. Best to you
  3. Yep summerset Those of us who have been here a long while know a few problems with bellablooms eating habits Each to their own, but bad advice is very hard on newcomers. I caution those people!!! Please work YOUR program and be wary of "diet" advice. Some of us many year veterans still listen to the : protein. Exercise. Water and Visit your dr advice! Banded 12/06. Loving my healthy life
  4. Absolutely..... personally this has happened to me... I really did not want to believe it.... and antacids and stomach calmers. Amoxaprole ? Those did help. And settling the issues finally this month will help.... sigh
  5. My doc says liquids and yogurt .... very soft foods for 1-2 days Especially if you have had an irritated band. Hope it all calms down for you.
  6. Just a slight warning: careful of focusing on food too much. It is what brought many of us here to wls land. Personally. I limit my exposure to food ... even 10 years later.... I do not watch commercials. Rarely see a cooking show. Don't wander the aisles of the grocery store... I have a fairly decent sense of the protein and assorted other items I need. It helps me. I hope your cookbook is filled with healthy items for a successful future with less and certainly healthier foods. Good luck with your future. You have a great opportunity many do not get and now is the time to use that just for you!!
  7. Great job. I enjoy your posts because they are so real! Yes there is a lot of hoopla in the beginning and not much fanfare at maintenance .... Just us vets here going through every day trying to manage our life without defaulting to our old nemesis: FOOD. I applaud all your hard work and please keep posting about it!
  8. Following. 10 years post banded and lucky to keep my band .... but you never know what comes next in life. I do, however know that weighing 272 lbs will not happen again! Keeping all options open and anxious to hear of the success and pitfalls of this newest wls. Please update if you have any info about it. Thank you We are all trying for a better healthier life in our own ways!
  9. Sorry to hear that lisacaron. It is very difficult yet honorable to help parents. And the difficulties with your band probably just add to the stress! I've given some thought to what my fall back would be if my band fails..... The newest endoscopic sleeve(done through the mouth/ throat/). Looks promising.... a bit less money and down time than laparoscopically... it is still new so of course I don't have any long term results to look at. But at one point the band was fairly new too. I guess we do the best we can with what we got. Best to you. Please keep posting. I miss your banter !
  10. And I don't see many of those people here. I wish some more veterans would stick around. (Banded in 06) Still maintaining and use this site to check in
  11. Welcome Sam I go to good Sam as there is no bariatric fills that I know of on this side of the hill. What an exciting time of changes for you ! you gotta believe and trust the program I think. I'm 10 years post op ( banded). So different wls. But I'm still working on staying consistent: protein and exercise being my main components. And that 90 lbs never came back thankfully! Keep posting..., it is good to see fresh people overcoming a big life obstacle like obesity....
  12. KEEPING the weight off... that was my issue. It always came back. With a bit more. I needed something long term... I chose banding in 2006. I'm thinking I'm lucky I got to keep my weight off and keep my band. Many cannot for lots of reasons I'm just thankful because in the 10 years since surgery, I'm sure I would have increased my weight from 272. To. ??? Glad I'm where I am. Not perfect ever. But many more good days than bad !
  13. 10 years banded. Maintaining a 90 lb loss And still I work on it daily! Please do not mistake me for someone who thinks they "got this". I think I just get back to my program quicker .
  14. Greetings again Nice to see you posting sunny. I also have an Inamed 4 cc band. From 2006. Currently filled with 1.5. Curious as to your fills. Ive been as high as 3cc. Also have appt on July 24 in San Jose , ca. Please post or message me. I know no one else with the same band !!! Still here. Still working on keeping off the 95 lbs!!
  15. Not bad for an old broad!! 62...
  16. Don't know why this has a different pic. Oh well It shows up as sharpie s photo on mine. All good. We kinda know who each other is[emoji736]
  17. This is just unusual for most of us. Hard , real food can be difficult for the first healing period. Please let us know how it goes[emoji631]
  18. Today was a good day. Had fun at a nice relaxing wedding of a boy I've known since birth!! A chance to wear a dress and go out.., sometimes it is the small things
  19. Wow. What a hard goal! Many of us have to ease into real food again. Let us know how it goes ! Best of luck
  20. Harder to reach a high protein count without bars / shakes for me. Fruit had almost no protein I'm thinking
  21. Ps I think it is normal for some post op people to not crave or want food sometimes. Such a different feeling than before. I'm still amazed 10 years later that I forgot to eat sometimes. ......Of course then the beast returns wanting sugar .... it is a constant balancing act But a different life than 90 lbs ago
  22. I think the swelling that is normal for your feet and such when you fly also irritates the band a bit. I drink more fluid and eat less until I get to my destinations. I got "stuck " Once on a long flight and it was not pleasant. I was much better the next day Now I bring protein bars or some nuts and string cheese to get me there. Bon voyage
  23. Be careful with too tight bands. I used watered down pedialyte until I could get back to my doc for an unfill Let us know how it went please
  24. Sophie That is a tremendous victory. [emoji322] You must feel so much healthier and less tired than before.... not to mention how our society treats larger people ....that makes it even harder for big people to do more things.... in my view . I'm 10 years post band and a size 24 to 12. I like size 12!!! My body does too. So I basically eat protein and work out and try my best to stay that size. Best to you and congrats on hard work
  25. I use regular fairlife. But sparingly. Don't like sugar free or fat free items very much , I really try to eat well instead Mostly it works. But being human, we all have difficult days sometimes
