  1. I'm still trying to upload pictures in my profile and I get error problems each time
  2. Get ready for your life to change! You can now successfully lose weight and KEEP IT OFF. That was the big difference to me. I hope the same for you. Life is hard enough without a lot of extra weight!! Please keep posting!
  3. Well I'm a bander so your mileage may vary... but it is still an everyday project to have the right foods available....daily.... protein... water.... some sort of exercise..... I mix it up with frozen yogurt for a treat. Jerky. Extra Protein milk, baked tofu ( much different than regular). Nuts. Eggs.. chicken thighs...protein bars and shakes for back up. And so goes the week COMPLIANCE. Is my big buzz word. Most of the time.... that is my 10 years out, 95 lbs list and maintained advice.... Some of us vets just keep trying.... I won't go back!!! Ps. I'm having a love affair with whole grains. Split peas. Lentils. Beans. I never would have thought I would crave those....
  4. Revive this old thread with newer people
  5. Keep us posted. !! It is the very few that are maneuvering with our band I truly want to know your progress bayou girl Kathy Hope the reset with bars and drinks helps. It can be brutal!! Just like at the onset
  6. Well I am over 10 years and I have fought regain. I do HAVE TO stick to band rules tho. Protein. Exercise. Water. Repeat ad nauseum I sometimes have to go back to protein drinks and bars for meals. To get back in the lower eating range... I agree with maintaining the lifestyle or a second wls will be in vain. Or short lived Best of luck
  7. My take is just to try fresh everyday. Some days are great. Some not so much. Hope the good days well outnumber the oops days You just have to start sometime.... a short walk and lots of water and a protein drink and bar can help me some days .... I also do not keep bad foods in the house. I sure am not going out in the dark to get anything!! But this is just me and we are all so different... Banded 12/06
  8. I'm thinking you need to start and get maybe 1/2 way to goal to reassess your end weight. No sense worrying about what MIGHT happen later. Just work on today!!
  9. All of us years out and still here get my hero vote ... wls has its own set of issues for everyone Banded life is so changeable.....
  10. Some of us seasoned vets are still here and. .... mostly ignore very ignorant advice from pre ops and recent post ops. Gotta deal with Wls for a year or two ( or 10) to get "it" I'm happy to offer banded advice but there are a very few of us left [emoji182]
  11. How goes it with the band emptied? My take was it was difficult to stay on a banded program of eating. The cravings seem to still be there if I ate just a bit too much. My body wanted more ...
  12. Yep. Lap band school. Big lesson. Ten years and I still have to remind myself to drink water more!! That is a hard lesson for me obviously [emoji171]
  13. Please. No one ask here. What to take to the hospital! When you can drink awful liquids or eat fatty foodstuffs regularly. I'm thankful we have some years under our belt.... and I agree... you do get your lessons in the first year.... Whether you continue them will make a huge difference in your success years out!!
  14. Because she is a fickle bi*•h. I also can eat the same item at the same time the next day and have no success??? Ten years later and I do not have some foods figured out!!!
  15. My take is you need to be ready to change your life. That is a big undertaking. The Wls kinda "guides" you .... however it is truly up to your personal compass how much you intend to stay focused on a different set of behaviors. A long term decision. It is a learning curve to me. Ten years later I still have to try and make good choices. No one is perfect.... and they shouldn't be.... but the willingness to give up the control food has on you is all your decision after the " honeymoon " period. Many are successful... especially compared to just dieting... but be realistic that you have to think and do differently . Hoping for all the best!
  16. Hope the swimming helps treadmiller Can I just say it is so nice to read about working Lapland's? So much negativity elsewhere on these boards. Thus is a nice group that is fortunate to have luck with the band. I do see many others having issues. Hopeful for more years!
  17. Just for today. If you are dehydrated. Perhaps watered down pedialyte Until the dr can advise on Monday. Worked for me
  18. Well ... now there are new people that are becoming Veterans every day... so this can be a safe place to just relax and talk about things that come up years down the road.... I suspect some leave from regains..... Personally that is always challenging for me. Good months. Not so good months. Ps. I do know there was some kerfuffle months back. But I am ignoring it.
  19. WLS seems to require a life long commitment. It almost trains you in the first year. How and when and how much to eat. Then. You get to try to live like that ... for life... 10 years later and I still try everyday. Mostly successful... no one is perfect!!
  20. I'm 62 and am very thankful yo have had Wls at the age of 51. One of the best things I ever did!
  21. I'm not clear that head hunger ever goes away.... especially the bitch that comes late at night!!
  22. Sometimes the band is only expected to take the edge off of eating/drinking/ cycle. I often wish it could do more. That means that you are also going to have to eat like a bandster. You know. The protein first. Chewing a lot. No fluid for x minutes after... your dr usually tells you. Drink a lot of water. And exercise! (The band I have is an ancient 4 ... filled currently w/ 1.5 Maintaining about 95 lb weight loss ) Sorry, I wish I had better news about Lap band living, but I think it just trained me after all these years. It is hard work almost every day.... but I won't go back. Good luck. Please keep posting. (Banded 12/06)
  23. I also can have band issues flying. Usually goes away, but annoying for vacations
  24. Thank goodness. I'm trying to keep my band as long as possible... I'm a bit over 10 years... good days and weeks. And some rejection times.. The weight has stayed off though. Thankfully Please update. And did the er know what to do??
