  1. Simple and often go to foods seem to be a good sign for keeping weight in check for me.... chicken thighs. Cheese sticks. Yogurt ..beans.. some brown rice. Extra protein milk... some protein drinks and bars. Soups. Kinda similar eating patterns helps me maintain Good luck to all of us trying to live our lives years post op of Wls!
  2. Mexico cost for thread IPo can range from 1000-1500 This is what my research told me
  3. Glad to see a group of core vets stick around. I feel like we certainly are available for specific questions. I've been here for years and chose not to participate in sniping....or sexual innuendo... just not me. Happy to come here to read supportive posts... I count on it! It is a major help to me almost daily. I hope others feel that way. And use this site selectively for their information.
  4. This is not an easy stroll. I think it takes a tremendous amount of dedication and mindfulness almost daily( no one is perfect) My take is to try to have the good, healthy days continue in a row .... yes. They get disrupted by life, but in general... I start to try to string together the compliant days. ( banded12/06). The longer I do this. The more it becomes habit I fight some demons at the grocery store. If it is not here. I don't eat it!!! It is still a struggle. Mostly in the evenings. Good luck to all of us trying to maintain a healthy weight. It is not easy most days!!
  5. Welcome. Please take this as a new way of living. It can be so different from past failures. There may be some bumps. But follow your drs advice and change your life! I'm over 10 years banded and am so happy. keep posting!
  6. It is about an hour procedure with threads and a kind of barbed end that pulls your skin upwards a bit. Some bruising. No pain. Results ok thus far. (Only one week) smoother skin w/ less creases is the goal!
  7. Sharpie. How wonderful! I'm glad you are not alone. Widowhood is a lonely road.
  8. Read this full conversation I think. It has some good tips. Getting in and out of bed/ recliner was the most difficult for me for days. Best of luck. I'm very pleased
  9. Well. I jumped in and had one. We will see how happy I am with the results. Hoping for a few years off the facial time clock
  10. My take is it is important to start and get to a healthier weight to decide on a final goal. I let my body decide because when I struggled to get the last 10 off , it came right back. Since it has been 10 years, I kinda get where my body wants to stay and what is comfortable for me Yes I exercise, drink water ( never with meals) and eat a lot of protein. I still occasionally get down those 10 lbs, but they then return in a couple of months. Repeat. I just stay a size 10-12 and am so happy to never see 270+ again! Good luck and let us know how you do
  11. Wondering if anyone had experience with thread lifts... kind of a mini lift. Much improved from older " lunchtime lift" 10 years ago. Very simple and reasonable ... how helpful? And for how long seem to be the big questions.
  12. I enjoy reading nice positive posts about our life and Wls That is helpful to me. Glad to be reading less drama ...
  13. I'm with you JWM. While the concept is good, I cannot deal with another person right now. I will say someone (a nice Atty) flirted me up at a party and it did do an old broad good! Truly not interested ( widowed 2 1/2 years ago) but nice to know a good guy was interested.
  14. Gotta say. I too enjoy the tv show "This is us "... but I think they missed a big opportunity to talk about Wls ( and it's very low mortality rate) on the consultation with her Dr. It appears camp will be her weight loss technique. I believe she has stated she signed a contract to lose weight for the show this season... but not Wls. Well it is a start to see it mentioned on a weekly show.
  15. I second the above advice. (Banded12/06) lost 90 lbs and kept off.... but lots of self work !!! Exercise and protein... and that dang sugar. The less I have the less I crave... but the world isn't perfect and neither are we Smaller fills might help... but not too tight... that is no way to live long term. I know seeing a therapist helped me. Perhaps you want to think about that? This is certainly a huge life style change. And I still make protein drinks or eat a quest bar to keep my protein up. I do drink water and exercise a couple of times a week. I actually split a personal trainer with a pal. I have to show up. I paid!!! They are waiting!! Good luck. Think about why you got your band and recommit yourself if you want things to change!
  16. I think that is a good thing: feeling satisfied but Not hungry... it is a hard concept for me to grasp.
  17. Yes. I believe the secret eating plan is still alive and well. I just don't care for others knowing if I can eat a decent lunch ... or fill up and not eat more that 4 bites. Or worse, have it come up ! I do eat many small meals at home ...
  18. I'm very glad to see some long term vets showing up here. I feel like I need some group support. This is a long and sometimes lonely road. Especially without all those lunch and dinner offers that come up all the time. I can only make about 1/2... Thanks Liz for hanging around. You helped me navigate a bit of Wls with the devastation of widowhood.. Hoping many people with years of experience stick around!! I appreciate you!
  19. I agree Liz... I do have enough going in in my world that I don't particularly care for sniping and sexual innuendos..I think admin did us a service. Just liked to laugh out loud at babbs!!
  20. Sorry to see babbs go. Another one This one was asked to leave by Alex. Along with LLady, dub and littlebill I believe
  21. I'm just the rogue voice saying that the band did and does work for some of us. As intended, you cannot overfill your band , or the real risk of throwing everything up becomes more and more a reality . (I for example, have 1.5 in a max of 4) The longer I go. (Banded12/06)The more I realize this is fairly much on me. Not my band . Takes some of us years to get it!!![emoji122][emoji122] I still try everyday. Gotta go find my water
  22. That is a question only you can answer... every time I've deflated mine, I have gained. (Banded12/06) I am not willing to go back . Yes she is fussy but after my tummy tuck, I don't want to remove it. I have 1.5 in a 4 band. I leave it low and try to make good decisions. I'm following your thread Good luck
  23. Please try flavors before investing. Some sit well with tasters. Some don't. And. Tastes can change Good luck Premier protein seems to go through me these days. Unknown why. Used it for years I do like BariatricPal flavors They sit better with my stomach these days
  24. Good luck with whatever surgery you choose. Please recognize you are going to have to change your patterns of eating behavior in the long run. I know it took me years to "get" it. And there are times I struggle (banded 12/06) But I still try!!
  25. I certainly recall the initial discomfort!!! I laughed when my husband discontinued binding medication. He recalled it as " passing a tennis ball". [emoji462][emoji462]I have heard women on here go so far as to say " passing a pineapple"[emoji531][emoji531] However you put it. It seems to get better and there are many suggestions posted on the boards. Unfortunately... my latest complication is hemorrhoids. Sigh. It is all better than 100 lbs!!! Good luck. Hoping it gets better and smoother soon!
