  2. 40 lbs in 2 months is what your stats say. That is great and realistic !
  3. I think you may find many people fitting those perimeters.... Me too Maintenance is hard. Daily It is a different life! I hope we all get that opportunity ( banded 12/06. Maintaining)
  4. I share a trainer and it sure makes me accountable. I had joined gyms in my past. But never have stuck with it. Now I'm at 10 years post op and training. And I think they go hand in hand. Yes it costs. So does food and health problems. Just my solution so I DO GO 2 x a week ! She kicks my ass. Not too much nutrition talk. Just clean eating
  5. Waiting is harder than healing. You got this. Change your life [emoji93][emoji240]
  6. I have to keep a level of prescription acid blockers in my system. Maybe your doc will try. ? Had to be very consistent to work for me. Good luck (Banded 12/06). Maintaining
  7. My take as a 10 year post wls. Is just get to the starting line. Don't overthink Xmas and the rest of the year.... Just relax and start and do the best you can for your first month. You can always re-evaluate items as they come up ... further down the road. You have to get on the road first .... Don't worry about the exits on the road. Just get prepared and get started and see where you go!! Best of luck
  8. Thank you very much for the great first hand info Best of luck to you and please keep us informed. This site is great for all kinds of info!!
  9. Is the overstitch the newest endoscopic stomach stitching? Following. Seems to be the latest darling of wls. I have my dinosaur of a lapband so I am always checking on what is new and statistics. Very few out yet as it is so new. Any info. Cost. Time. Pain. Besides what you have divulged would be so appreciated. Thanks and good luck[emoji171]
  10. This is one of the most common word issues on here for years... we all kinda know what they mean ...
  11. My take is we are looking to CHANGE our eating and drinking habits for good with surgery.... that does not mean finding a way back to soda ... for me... Doctors routinely advise against the awful ingredients in soda. Some people just want what they Used to do. I encourage patients to Please try to take this huge change in your body... that you may get only once in your life ....by changing a few basic rules: Water. Protein. Exercise.... really. Truly It is hard to see some wanting to return to bad habits.... I don't pretend to have all the answers... but drinking a caustic fluid with no nutritional value cannot be a great part of a healthy new life. Just my 10 year post op thoughts
  12. For me, taking a prescription acid blocker daily has helped tremendously. I did not realize how irritated my stomach was. Daily.... It is better for now. Good luck and please keep posting (Banded 12/06).
  13. Thank you for sharing such a personal story. I have never read if anyone doing their own fills! I'm glad to read you took control over your body and your health. It is a challenge everyday for me. I try and no one is perfect.... but I just get back on program sooner I suppose . I'm thankful to keep my band for over 10 years and maintain a 90 lb weight loss...I wish it was 100 but am glad I'm not arguing with a large chunk of weight . I still have to remind myself of my goals often . Some weeks are better than others!
  14. Glad to see you posting again Andrew. See... people notice when you are absent! I like the people and postings here and check for inspiration occasionally.
  15. Glad to see some current banders support each other. There are few of us still here! ( banded 12/06) Maintaining 90 lb loss. Wishing it was 100, but fine with my body and health!! Thankful
  16. I respect all religions. We all seem to try to help each other... But please people quit asking for prayers for neighbors and strangers... and /or blaming or thanking a deity for gain or loss. You gotta do the work!!
  17. It becomes about you and your habits after the magical year or so. It is hard! It can be done But takes much work and time and commitment... I can't go back! Everyday I try
  18. Good luck on your new , different way of life. Like many say, this is for the long run, not a sprint . I will share I am 10 years plus banded and still working with fills and unfills. It stays the same for years and then , for me, can change. I really caution going slowly. Overfills serve no one and can damage and super irritate your band. Then it can take a long time to calm down. Keep going slowly but surely ...and use your time to really change some basic eating and exercising habits,.... please keep posting!!
  19. Ummm. Some of us are still not so social... for many reasons ... weight can just be one of lots of things that keep some from being social butterflies Age.... widowhood...family... Many factors Youth is a wonderful thing and I believe wls really can improve your outlook early
  20. So happy to see veterans here. Up. Down. Confused. All of us at one point I think I am thankful for the comoderie I find here. Thank you ladies! And since I posted a happy , 10 years post op pic, I thought I would share a glimpse of my old self. Who I do not want to revisit , I remind myself . I was kinda happy. But very unhealthy and that was 15 years ago. Life is better in many ways. Widowhood is not what I wanted. Such is life
  21. Jayne. I'm 1/2 retired. Driving 17 can be a bit of a headache depending on traffic... planning ahead on a Tuesday could be my best bet... vasona park could be nice...??open to ideas
  22. I'm a fan of baked tofu. Not the white jiggly stuff in water. Dry and flavored in a vacuum pack. Safeway has it here. Look a bit harder and it is refrigerated Some softer protein bars... chewed well .. best of luck. Protein is so important. And keeping food down is way important!! Fairlife extra protein milk. Sugar free pudding ?? Refried beans mushy...?Worth a try
  23. I would like to see each other and chat sometime. Not clear on others schedules or place. But San Jose somewhere it sounds like? Let me know if anyone has ideas on how
  24. Also. Carafate has truly helped. We all need each other's help!
